Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role, you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example: 

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 

• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations

• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press  

• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork

● championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

As a team our publicity volunteers collectively keep members of the public informed of the vital and varied ways we help our cats in need. Raising awareness is crucial to us being able to help the thousands of cats and kittens each year that rely on us. A higher profile can help raise funds, raise awareness of adopting a cat, promote neutering and encourage as many people as possible to learn about feline welfare.

Time expectation 

Our publicity team leaders usually spend 3 to 4 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

 OVERALL PURPOSE

This role requires a hands-on communicator who is passionate about profiling service user’s voices and creating opportunities for collaboration. You’ll work with local partners to showcase the impact of WFRC’s projects & initiatives, help generate support for the charity, and profile learning, impact and successes back into the wider community.

For the role to be truly transformational the Volunteer Communications, Engagement & Partnerships manager will need to:

· Build relationships with service users, stakeholders and local partners,

· Generate compelling stories, and support communications strategies that amplify WFRC & its impact in the region.

 OPERATIONAL TASKS

  Communications Strategy Development:

® Co-develop and implement a communications strategy for the WFRC’s projects & initiatives as needed.

Content Creation:

® Generate engaging stories, case studies, and digital content featuring service users, stakeholders and local partners.

® Work with stakeholders to create and share their own content, empowering them to tell their stories.

Digital and Media Engagement:

® Profile local activities and partnerships, creating content and stories for social media and other digital platforms.

® Build relationships with local media to amplify the work of WFRC and its stakeholders.

 Engagement Partner Collaboration:

® Work with the project managers and our local stakeholders to identify opportunities to increase the charity’s profile.

® Attend online and in-person meetings with local partners in Wolverhampton to profile our work.

® Generate partner commitment to WFRC’s campaigns and initiatives.

® Work collaboratively with local stakeholders to deliver communications and engagement strategies that showcase our partnerships and impact.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

· Proven experience of general administrative work, including excellent IT skills (using Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Access).

· Proven experience of team management.

· Ideally, some experience of working in the charity sector.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent attention to detail.

· Leadership and the ability to ‘make things happen’

· Good time management skills and the ability to work pro-actively & meet tight deadlines.

Pregnancy Sickness Support is a registered UK charity working to improve care, treatment and support for those affected by nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (NVP) and the severe form of the condition, Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). For many people this is one of the hardest and loneliest parts of pregnancy. Our social media is often the first place someone finds out they are not alone.

We are looking for a creative  Social Media Volunteer to help us tell that story well. You would help shape warm, accurate and engaging content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X, and, if it interests you, help us explore and launch a presence on TikTok. Most of your creative work would be in Canva, using our templates and brand.

What the role involves

• Creating warm, accurate posts and simple graphics in Canva that share support, information and lived experience across our channels
• Helping plan and schedule content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and X
• Helping us explore and launch a presence on TikTok, if that is something you would enjoy
• Keeping an eye on comments and messages, replying kindly to straightforward ones and passing anything sensitive or distressing to the staff team
• Spotting awareness days, campaigns and moments that matter to our community and suggesting content for them
• Sharing simple updates on what is landing well, so we can learn what our audience values

About you

You do not need to be a marketing professional. We are looking for someone who cares about our cause, writes clearly and warmly, and can handle a sensitive subject with care. You would be comfortable on social media, happy to learn our tools and brand, and able to organise your own time so the volunteering fits around your life.

What we hope you can bring 

• A genuine interest in our cause and a caring, sensitive approach to content about pregnancy, illness, loss and mental health
• Confidence using one or more social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn or X), whether in a personal or work setting
• The ability to write clearly and warmly for a general audience, with good attention to accuracy
• Reliability and the ability to organise your own time around the volunteering
• A willingness to follow our brand, safeguarding and confidentiality guidance, and to check content with the team before posting where needed

Helpful extras 

• Making simple graphics or short videos, for example in Canva (templates and guidance are provided, so this is not essential)
• An interest in or experience of creating TikTok content
• Lived experience of hyperemesis gravidarum or pregnancy sickness, or a close understanding of it. This is valued, not required
• Any experience of content planning, scheduling tools or basic social media insights
• Any experience of volunteering with, or working for, a charity
