Claremont has been around since 1819 and serves mostly older people through a powerful blend of social prescribing, low-cost psychotherapy and a programme of arts and wellbeing activities.

Claremont is a place of innovation and creativity, underpinned by a Relational Approach which emphasises real listening, self-awareness and an awareness of how we are being in relation to other people. We were the UK’s first Wellbeing Centre long before the term was ubiquitous; and in the 1920s and 30s we ran programmes that became models for the Welfare State.

About the role

The Treasurer is a key member of the Board of Trustees, helping to ensure Claremont’s financial health, sustainability and good governance.

Working closely with the Chair, CEO and bookkeeper, the Treasurer supports the Board in overseeing the charity’s financial affairs and ensuring appropriate financial stewardship.

The Treasurer will:

• Support the Board in fulfilling its financial governance responsibilities.
• Help ensure that effective financial controls and reporting systems are in place.
• Provide oversight and constructive challenge regarding budgets, forecasts and financial planning.
• Assist the Board in understanding Claremont’s financial position and long-term sustainability.
• Support compliance with Charity Commission and Companies House financial requirements.
• Chair or participate in finance-related committee meetings where appropriate.
• Contribute strategically to the future development of the organisation.

As set out by the Charity Commission, Trustees at Claremont are collectively responsible for:

• Advancing the charitable purposes of Claremont and ensuring we carry out our purposes for public benefit.

• Has financial expertise, accountancy qualifications and/or senior financial management experience.
• Understands governance and financial oversight within charities or not-for-profits.

• Brings warmth, emotional intelligence and collaborative working.

Experience in one or more of the following areas would also be valuable:

• Charity finance and fundraising
• Property or buildings management

Time commitment

Quarterly Board meetings (held in the evenings), plus preparation, emails and committee work.

You'll help keep us looking beautiful - maintaining the shop floor, filling up our clothing rails, and using your creativity to help create exciting displays. You'll also be meeting our customers and helping them shop, as well as our kind donors, supporters, and cat-lovers!

Your kindness and hard work will help us care for cats and kittens in the Dorset area, with links to our Ferndown homing centre.

What are we looking for?

Person Specification: What You'll Bring:

• Educated to a degree level
• At least one year of proven experience in bid and tender management, preferably within the healthcare (NHS & private), medical, social care and services, international development, economics, international relations, UN agencies, ege, UNICEF, WHO, etc, or technology sectors.
• End-to-end bid management experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience leading the whole bid process.
• Preferred qualifications include a degree in Business, Communication, Marketing, Creative Writing, English or equivalent.
• APMP Certification is also desirable, but not important.
• Sector versatility: Experience in working with both public and private sector bids in the medical, biotech, biomed, health and social sectors is preferred.
• Industry knowledge: Understanding of contact centres and/or customer experience is essential.
• Commercial acumen: Strong business sense, negotiation skills, and a hands-on approach.

Essential Skills:

Commitment & Flexibility

We require a combined commitment across our core office days: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with online remote workflows on Tuesday and Friday.

As this is an official job-share arrangement, the two Operations Leads will divide and coordinate these days between them to ensure seamless operational cover across the 3 core days.

Trustee Role Description

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Caudwell Youth achieves its core purpose. They oversee the overall management and administration of the charity. They also ensure that we have a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the executive team to enable Caudwell Youth to grow and thrive, and through this, shape young people’s futures.

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

Trustee Duties

• Support and provide advice on Caudwell Youth’s purpose, vision, goals and impact.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of Caudwell Youth, approving strategy and annual plans.
• Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.
• Oversee financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.
• Review and approve Caudwell Youth’s annual report and accounts.
• Provide support and challenge to the CEO and executive team, in accordance with our values.

Terms of Appointment

Terms of Office

• Trustees are appointed for a 3 year term of office, this can be renewed for a second term. (Maximum of 6 years service).
• This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.
   

Time Commitment

• Preparing for, and attending, 4 Board meetings annually. Currently meetings are held 5.30-7.30pm online.
• A strategy day in person in London/Milton Keynes.
• Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

We provide activities, services, and a welcoming space for residents of all ages and backgrounds — but none of that happens without a secure financial foundation. As a small charity, we can't rely on grants and donations alone. Sustainable income from venue hire gives us something equally precious: independence. The freedom to plan ahead, to protect the services people rely on, and to say yes to new ideas. As our Venue Hire & Income Generation Volunteer, you won't just be filling a diary. You'll be helping to future-proof a community asset.

Our organisation provides advice and services to all members of our local community from birth to old age.  We help over 5000 people each year with a variety of health-related or social needs.  Our centre is used as a base for counselling, food distribution, health programmes, children’s activities and social groups.  As funding sources have diminished the demand for our services has increased.  We are actively pursuing other ways to generate income.

We're looking for a volunteer with business, sales, or marketing experience to help us make the most of our fantastic building by hiring it out to local businesses, training providers, clubs, and organisations. Whether you've worked in sales, events, marketing, property, or business development — or simply have a talent for spotting an opportunity and making things happen — we'd love to hear from you.

You'll play a key role in identifying potential hirers, promoting our spaces, and helping us price and package our facilities competitively — all while ensuring the centre's core charitable activities remain protected.

• Identify and approach potential hirers, including local businesses, training providers, clubs, and community organisations
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan to promote the building for hire (e.g. flyers, social media, local business networks, online listings)
• Review and help set competitive, sustainable hire rates for different rooms/spaces and time slots
• Create or improve hire packages (e.g. half-day/full-day rates, regular booking discounts, room set-up options)
• Help develop simple hire agreements, terms and conditions, and invoicing processes (with support from staff/trustees)
• Build relationships with regular or repeat hirers to encourage long-term bookings
• Identify opportunities for new income streams connected to venue hire (e.g. catering add-ons, equipment hire)
• Report progress and income performance to the management team/trustees on a regular basis.

This is a genuinely rewarding role. You'll use your real-world skills to help generate vital income that goes straight back into funding the services our community depends on. • Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community.
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers.
• Following health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone.

Chair of Trustees - The Family Place Foundation

We are recruiting a new Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and support the next stage of our charity’s development.

Location: Remote, with occasional in‑person trustee meetings (typically once or twice a year) held in the Clyro/Herefordshire area.

Time commitment: Approximately 1–2 days per month. This includes six trustee meetings a year, occasional ad‑hoc discussions and light‑touch support between meetings (for example reviewing policies or responding to emails).

Established in 2020, we are a small, well-established charity with a strong grounding and a clear purpose. We raise funds to provide support to adopted, fostered and kinship care children and their families to improve emotional wellbeing, strengthen relationships, and reduce the impact of early trauma. In collaboration with leading UK practitioners, we support the delivery of a range of services providing essential therapeutic care and family support that isn’t covered by statutory funding. Services offered include Family Activity Days, Specialist Clinical Workshops, Advisory Consultations and Family Respite Camps. We also work to raise awareness of the challenges faced by children who cannot live with their birth families. We are a warm, committed team with a strong reputation for high‑quality support, clear governance, and genuine care for the families we serve.

We are now seeking a Chair of Trustees to help guide the charity through its next stage of development, including shaping our emerging Family Foundations project, a significant new early‑years initiative for the charity, alongside our ongoing portfolio of funded projects delivered through our specialist partner. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated Board and a small operational support team who care deeply about the families we serve and the long‑term sustainability of the organisation.

The charity is currently led by a Board of four trustees, supported by two part‑time operational staff and a small group of volunteers.

As Chair, you will provide leadership to the Board, ensure effective governance, and help the charity continue enabling the delivery of high‑quality, trauma‑informed support. You will work closely with the trustees and operational colleagues to help shape strategy, strengthen partnerships, and ensure the charity remains compliant, resilient, and focused on its mission. You will also play a key role in strengthening the charity’s governance and fundraising, which in turn enables the therapeutic delivery carried out by our specialist partner. 

A supportive handover will be provided to ensure a smooth and confident transition into the role.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who brings:

• Warmth, clarity and good judgement, with a balanced, proportionate approach to governance.

• A genuine commitment to improving the lives of adopted, fostered and kinship care children and an understanding of the challenges faced by families affected by early trauma.

• Confidence in chairing discussions, helping the Board reach clear, well‑considered decisions.

• An understanding of good governance, including risk, safeguarding and compliance (or a willingness to learn).

• The ability to work collaboratively with trustees and our small operational support team, offering encouragement and constructive challenge while supporting the charity’s governance and fundraising role, which enables the specialist delivery work carried out by our partner.

• Strategic thinking, with the ability to help shape the charity’s direction and ensure long‑term sustainability.

• Reliability, integrity and a calm, steady approach, keeping the charity’s purpose at the centre of decision‑making.

• Meets the eligibility requirements to serve as a charity trustee, as set out by the Charity Commission.

Helpful but not essential:

• Experience of chairing a board or committee

• Experience in charity governance, education, social care, therapeutic work, or community leadership would be helpful, but we are open to a wide range of backgrounds.

• Lived or professional experience related to adoption, fostering, trauma or family support.
