Cats are at the centre of everything we do, and our objectives are homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care.

We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, employees and supporters.

A bit about this role... 

Please note - Due to the nature of fundraising roles, our volunteers must be over the age of 18. 

As a charity we can help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations from our supporters. Raising funds is a key role in our charity, helping to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need.

As a fundraising volunteer, we will support you every step of the way to ensure your time at Cats Protection is a positive and rewarding one. Whatever time you can give really does make a big difference We have lots of exciting activities to choose from for example attending a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, handling administrative tasks, or contributing to the development of new fundraising ideas. Whatever your skill set, this role could be perfect for you! 

What can I expect to be doing? 

As a flexible role, you have the choice to be involved in the following: 

• Face-to-face fundraising – organising or helping with our fundraising events, attending supermarket collections or local markets. 

• Distributing collection tins – popping collection tins into local shops and pubs and collecting them when they’re full. 

• Bringing new ideas! - We always love to come up with new ideas to raise funds for cats and we’d love to help bring yours to life. 

• Engaging with your local branches and Fundraising Hub and feeling like an integral part of the team!

You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge though Cats Protection’s learn online system, providing you with the skills to thrive as a fundraiser.  You’ll also have the chance to meet new people and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
Money raised by our volunteers enables us to put cats first. Cats are at the centre of all we do. We care for them, ensure their welfare, and help others to understand and better support them.

How much time is expected of me? 

Our Fundraising Volunteer roles are very flexible, often certain times of the year are busier than others. You can choose your level of involvement to suit your schedule!

Support, guidance and keeping you safe 

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us. 

The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we encounter as part of our activities.

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

We are honoured to be supporting the wonderful Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People to recruit four new Trustees to their Board. 

Rainbows Hospice for Children & Young People is based in Loughborough, Leicestershire, and is the only Hospice across the East Midlands that delivers a comprehensive range of support services, nursing and care for babies, children and young people with life threatening and life limiting conditions and their families.

As a Trustee for Rainbows Hospice your commitment will make a direct difference to the families they support. The work involved in being a Trustee can be demanding but is also immensely rewarding, providing both expected and unexpected opportunities for personal development. You will be joining a multi-skilled and talented Board of Trustees, currently twelve, who have a collective responsibility to govern their work.

The rewards of working with, and learning from, people of different backgrounds and skills will be great. You will help plan and fulfil their strategic future and make policy decisions to ensure they are accountable to the families, supporters, the Charity Commission and the public in general.

The team are looking for four Trustees to join them and have identified the following three skill areas of interest at this time;

Leadership
• Proven leadership experience aligned with organisational values and culture
• Collaborative, compassionate leadership style (non-hierarchical approach)
• Ability to inspire and bring people along
• Strategic oversight experience at board level
• Senior leadership role required (e.g., Director or CEO level)

Business/ Finance
• Strong understanding of charity finance to support the Director of Finance
• Broad commercial acumen beyond just retail
• Senior-level experience with a track record in innovation and growth
• Ability to contribute strategically to financial oversight and decision-making

Strategic Income Generation/ Retail
• Retail experience is essential and currently missing from the board (used to have a retail trustee on the board from Boots)
• Strategic income generation experience is desirable, though partly covered by the CEO
• Ability to challenge and support investment decisions to drive income
• Understanding of both operational and commercial aspects of retail
• Senior-level experience (e.g., Director of Retail at a large national charity like Cancer Research UK Senior Director

TRUSTEE

Are you a committed Christian with a heart for evangelical mission? Do you bring sound judgement and governance insight to board-level decision-making?

Childs Charitable Trust is a long-established Christian grant-making charity, founded in 1962, distributing significant funding to UK-registered charities advancing the Christian gospel in the UK and overseas.

We are seeking up to three Trustees to strengthen and refresh the Board. As a Trustee, you will help steward financial resources drawn from property and investments, discerning where funding will have the greatest Gospel impact. You will review and assess grant applications, engage directly with mission partners, and contribute to strategic oversight, governance and risk management.

This Trustee role offers the privilege of combining faith, wisdom and practical judgement to enable ministries to grow, respond to crisis and reach those who may never otherwise hear the Good News.

Key responsibilities:

• Shape and approve strategic grant-making decisions
• Provide governance oversight, safeguarding integrity and sustainability
• Review and score applications, weighing impact and risk
• Support and appropriately challenge the Chief Executive
• Contribute actively to prayerful, values-led board discussions

Our greatest asset is our dedicated team of staff, volunteers and trustees, who also advocate for lasting policy change both locally and nationally. To help us in our work, we are seeking an additional 3-4 trustees to complete our board and help us lead the charity over our next phase of strategic development.

The role  

We want our board to have a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds and are looking for strategic thinkers with a commitment to good governance and a willingness to work collaboratively and challenge constructively. Previous experience of Citizens Advice, or of being a Trustee (or equivalent), would be advantageous, but the commitment and enthusiasm to help us shape the work and strategic direction of our forward-thinking charity is essential. 

We would be particularly interested to hear from people with experience in HR (especially those with current CIPD membership), Charitable Trust and Foundation fundraising, and change management.

CONTEXT

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a registered charity based in

Wolverhampton which supports, empowers and advocates for women and children.

We aim to actively encourage women to be self-reliant, through empowering them to

identify their own needs, make their own choices and create their own solutions. We

offer a baby bank, a charity shop & various community support services to help

women facing crises or challenging situations.

Wolverhampton Baby Bank is a flagship project run by The Women & Families

Resource Centre, a registered charity supporting families with children aged 0-3.

Through donated essentials and community engagement, we provide much-needed

items such as:

• Essential supplies for babies and toddlers, including nappies, wipes, clothing, toys,

and bedding.

• Support services for new parents, including drop-in groups and befriending for

pregnant women and new mothers.

• Referrals and resources to connect families with additional community services.

Scope and Span

The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative and operational support directly to the Executive Director (Karyne). This role ensures the Executive Director’s time, priorities, communication, and strategic initiatives are well-managed and executed efficiently.

The Executive Assistant acts as a gatekeeper, coordinator, and trusted support partner to enable the Owner to focus on leadership, growth, and strategic decision-making.

Volunteer Guidelines

Thank you for volunteering with The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC). Our work supports and empowers women and families facing challenging circumstances, and your role is essential in helping us provide consistent, reliable, and respectful services. To ensure fairness, sustainability, and high-quality support for the community, all volunteers are expected to follow the structured framework and guidelines below.

• Minimum of 12hrs per week and 4hrs per day

• Attend agreed shifts consistently and provide notice if unable to attend.

• Carry out agreed tasks responsibly, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

• Treat service users, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect and compassion.

• Communicate openly about availability, concerns, or if feeling overwhelmed to prevent burnout and overcommitment.

• Follow agreed scheduling processes to ensure continuity and consistency in service delivery.

• Work collaboratively as part of the team and report any safeguarding concerns immediately.

Your commitment and reliability help us create a stable and supportive environment for the families we serve.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Manage the Owner’s calendar, appointments, and scheduling

• Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document action points

• Screen and prioritize emails and communications

• Draft correspondence and internal communications on behalf of the Owner

• Track key projects and follow up on action items

• Support planning of events, campaigns, or strategic initiatives

• Prepare reports, summaries, and presentations when required

• Liaise with internal managers and external stakeholders

• Maintain confidential records and sensitive information

• Assist with operational oversight when delegated

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, or similar role preferred

• Strong administrative and organizational background

• Comfortable using Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and communication tools

• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

• Highly reliable and detail-oriented
