Every GLF board member plays a direct role in the success and sustainability of the organisation.

• Fundraising Commitment:
  Every board member must actively participate in fundraising campaigns, donor outreach, and sponsorship drives.
  Each member is required to make a personal monthly donation to the organisation (amount optional but meaningful).

• Time Commitment:
  Minimum of 20 hours per month, including board meetings, subcommittee work, fundraising events, and strategic planning.

Position: Board of Director - Socially Connected Ambassador (Unpaid Volunteer Role)

Reports to: Board Chairperson

Location: Hybrid (remote + in-person events as needed)

Purpose: To leverage personal and professional networks to expand GLF’s reach and influence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent GLF at social, political, and business networking events.

• Connect GLF with potential partners, donors, and sponsors.

• Support awareness campaigns through social media and public engagement.

• Advocate for youth and family issues in community forums.

Join our amazing volunteer team to make a real difference to people living with sight loss. You’ll be Supporting blind and partially sighted people and family members in our Edinburgh Community Equipment and Advice centre. Whatever the task we want our customers to have access to the same Technology as their sighted peers and ensuring they can live life as independently as possible.

What you’ll be doing
• Meeting and greeting community members on arrival.
• Assist customers with items such as tablets and phones in order for customers to make the best use of them.
• Downloading the latest apps, helping customers with visual enhancements or spending time with customers to learn voice over.
• Providing a warm atmosphere in order to enhance the learning experience.

• Taking part in and sharing information about specific campaigns and initiatives to help remove barriers to blind and partially sighted people.
• Delivering talks on behalf of RNIB’s Social Action Team.

What skills and experience are needed?

• • Lived experience of issues affecting blind and partially sighted people. • Be comfortable speaking to different audiences to share your story, or a willingness to try with our support. • Effective communication skills. • An outgoing friendly approach to meeting new people. • Confidence in using a smart phone and email and engaging in meetings via video calls.

Every week you can find our environmental experts at Snipe Park Wood in Harworth & Bircotes, a lovely green space! We maintain it for the enjoyment of the community and wildlife.

In 2024 we tackled the persistent flood problems in the area, by removing overgrown vegetation, digging out blocked drains. To launch the improved area, we hosted free children’s play groups for pre-school age children to engage with nature and discover the joys of outdoors play.

We are currently working on a wide range of improvements, including improving pathways, creating wildlife habitats, implementing a wildflower meadow, small construction tasks like building fences, litter picking, and much more.

You can be part of it! We are looking for volunteers who can help us. We are there every Monday 9am – 2pm and you can choose to come ad-hoc or regularly.

As a Volunteer Donor Relationship Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in forming and maintaining relationships with our donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, whilst forming & implementing a strategy to keep them donating. This role would suit someone who is confident, enthusiastic about building strong connections, and passionate about the welfare of refugees & asylum seekers.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and approach local high net worth individuals/businesses to approach for a regular donation
• Develop a donor relationship strategy aimed at maximising engagement and satisfaction.
• Personally reach out to existing donors to thank them for their contributions (& send seasonal cards/other personalised messages to maintain positive relationships).
• Build relationships by engaging with donors via phone calls and emails to understand their motivations for donating and gather feedback used to improve our efforts.
• Encourage previous donors to continue their support.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all our donor interactions to ensure we have up-to-date information on our supporters.
• Create and distribute surveys to gain insights into our donors’ needs and expectations.
• Further down the line, host webinars or live Q&A sessions to answer donor questions and provide updates on our work.

Requirements:

• Strong communication abilities
• Proficiency with google docs/sheets
• Excellent organisational skills
• A confident individual who is comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people
• Pro-active approach and work with minimum supervision
• Can commit a minimum of 2 hours per week

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second-hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as incredible advocates for the rights of children both in the UK and around the world.

Volunteering in the shop

Mary's Living & Giving for Save the Children is unique - a vibrant result of the generous gifts of local individuals and companies being turned around by the skills and passions of volunteer teams, to create a destination retail experience. Selling womenswear, menswear, shoes, and bags to household goods, our shops can be found in the London villages and bring in vital funds for Save the Children.

Our Little Venice Shop Volunteers are in the middle of it all, and there’s plenty to get involved with. You might be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating fantastic window displays or keeping our shop floor looking organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. We have volunteers who support for a couple of hours a week and some do more. Many people volunteer either a morning or an afternoon each week - this is something that will be discussed at the selection stage, after you’ve applied.

We are seeking a volunteer who has experience in Marketing and Communications. We need our storyteller, a creative, visually minded, and highly driven volunteer to amplify our voice, build our digital footprint, raise our profile, and help us paint London yellow with positivity and human connection!

What You’ll Do

• Own the Story: Create and lead on our social media content calendar and bring it to life across Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook and others.
• Guard the Vibe: Coordinate with our volunteer graphic designers to ensure all templates, quote cards, and digital assets match our signature high-vibrancy brand identity.
• Drive Engagement: Write punchy, encouraging copy that inspires lonely residents to take the brave step of showing up to our socials, and motivates local creatives to join our behind-the-scenes squad, or our frontline volunteer team.
• Animate the Grid: Turn raw photos and smartphone footage captured by our frontline team at the "SUNSHINE Programmes" into joyful Reels, TikToks, and posts that showcase our real-world impact.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

What we need from you

You’ll be:

· supporting and encouraging a team of fundraising volunteers

· planning fundraising events and activities with your team

· allocating tasks before and during fundraising events

· keeping financial records from fundraising events

· encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection 

· following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events

Time expectation

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
