Digital events officer volunteer roles
We are seeking new trustees to strengthen our Board and help shape the future of our work. We are also seeking a new Chair of the Board of Trustees.
We are looking for dedicated, creative people, of all ages, with a range of professional and life experience to join the Age UK Stockport Board of Trustees.
Being a trustee or Chair of any charity, including ours, is to be an active volunteer in your community. Like any volunteer involved in our work, our aim is for you to enjoy what you do with us, know how you contribute towards our work and see the positive impact that you have on people’s lives.
But it’s not the easiest volunteering role! It can be challenging, but rewarding, and a big responsibility. Trustees have collective legal responsibilities – you work together for the best interests of Age UK Stockport and for the people in later life we work with across the borough. We will tell you more about these responsibilities elsewhere in the pack.
If you’re passionate about supporting everyone to make the most of their later life, and you have the skills and experience to help shape and guide our organisation to achieve our vision, we’d like to hear from you.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

- Knowledge of charity fundraising, bid writing, and/or other income generation and/or securing funding through creation or leveraging of partnerships and networks (at a national or local level).
- A strategic thinker with an ability to balance risk and opportunity and the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
- Clear communicator with the ability to explain financial information to members of the Board and other stakeholders.
- Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, and liaising with auditors.
In addition, the Treasurer will also have the responsibilities and qualities of all Trustees.
Responsibilities of All Trustees:

Location: London with flexibility
Closing Date: 11 March 2026
Trees for Cities is an independent national charity that empowers people to plant and care for trees in towns and cities, targeting places where they have the greatest impact for people and nature. Through trees, we connect people to nature, enrich lives and create leafy, liveable places for today and future generations. In a world facing unprecedented threats from climate change, biodiversity loss and disconnection from nature, our work has never been more urgent.
Since 1993, Trees for Cities has engaged 260,000 people to plant and care for almost 2 million trees across 100 urban areas in the UK and overseas. We are proud to operate at the intersection of social and environmental justice, focusing on communities with the least access to green space and the benefits it brings. To deepen this work, we have developed a new five-year strategy (2025–2030) with the goal of creating a Movement for Urban Trees and Tree Equity. As we enter this ambitious new strategic phase, the new Chair will play a leading role in overseeing its successful embedding and impact.
This is a rare opportunity to lead the Board of a dynamic, growing charity at a pivotal moment. Our Trustees are recruited for their diverse skills and perspectives, and we are proud of our strong governance practices and healthy Board culture. Together, we provide constructive challenge and meaningful support to the executive team, guided by the organisational values that sit at the heart of how we work. We are seeking an exceptional individual to become our next Chair, continuing this work, offering strategic leadership and robust governance to ensure Trees for Cities continues to thrive and grow in impact.
You will bring Board-level experience, including as a Chair, Vice Chair and/or Trustee/Non-Executive Director, and a proven ability to chair Board or committee meetings effectively. With strategic vision and the confidence to navigate complexity, you will demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, build consensus and manage diverse perspectives. You will bring a supportive and empowering approach, with a coaching style of leadership that empowers and enables others to thrive. Experience in the environmental, sustainability or urban greening sectors is desirable but not essential; what matters most is your ability to lead with integrity, inspire others and drive impact.
We want our Board to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and particularly welcome applications from individuals from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled people, and those with lived experience of environmental or social injustice. Welcome
Thank you for showing interest in Voyage (Voice of Youth & Genuine Empowerment) and the possibility of becoming a Trustee.
Voyage is a London-based social justice charity tackling racial inequality and structural disadvantage. We empower and enrich the lives of diverse young people and transform disadvantaged communities by raising aspiration and attainment. We work with socially disadvantaged and excluded young people, aiming to combat social exclusion, improve educational achievement and build resilient, confident leaders. Our mission is to empower and enrich the lives of young Black people and young people from the global majority, radically transforming educational and employment pathways. You will find more information on our website outlining our mission, programmes, partnerships and impact.
Voyage is led and governed by our committed, majority-diverse Board of Trustees, Youth Advisory Board, CEO and leadership team. Our organisation would not succeed without the dedication of our programme leaders and staff team. We have bold ambitions for Voyage, including completing our transition to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status and deepening our work across three pillars: Education, Access and Youth Voice. To support this next phase, we now need additional skills on our Board. We are specifically looking for people with one or more of the following:
·broad fundraising or income generation experience
·experience in the higher or further education sector
·education product development or commercial/business development experience
·governance and board development
We are open to other skills and experiences too. If you share our passion for social justice and supporting young people from Black and other global majority backgrounds to raise their expectations and fulfil their potential, we would welcome your application. We are especially interested in people currently underrepresented in charity governance.
Sincerely
Siobhan O’Garro (Board Chair)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
About us
Our mission - We ignite and inspire the next generation, building resilience to tackle the UK’s most pressing issues.
Our vision - Every young person can be a voice for change in their community and the world.
Our philosophy - Each One Teach One.
Our values - Empower – Transform – Sustain.
We provide accredited transformational leadership programmes for young people from the global majority. We aim to increase educational attainment, build community resilience and develop empowered young leaders who go on to reach their full potential and often return to Voyage to inspire the next generation.
Our work and plans
Voyage has recently come through a very challenging two year period that has significantly impacted our ability to attract investment and grow and rebuild staff capacity. At the same time, the national rolling back of ESG, DEI and wider CSR agendas has reduced investment in the very communities and young people our work exists to support. Despite this, Voyage remains resilient and is committed to overcoming these challenges. We have developed a business-led approach that places our young people at the centre of reversing this trend demonstrating the essential role that diversity, youth leadership and social justice play in future-focused industries.
We support young people through accredited education offers leading to employment and industry accesswork and opportunities to highlight the voice of our young people. This pathway of empowerment can be seen in our longest-standing strand, rooted in our BTEC level II accredited Safer cities course designed to support young people who are at risk of being marginalized due to challenging behaviour, damaging relationships and poor engagement with school.
A major element of our renewed strategy is our focus on sustainability and climate justice. Our mission helps us connect our diversity agenda to these sectors that are currently under-represented yet abundant with opportunity. Voyage is therefore aligning youth leadership, diversity and green-skills development through:
·our new Young Leaders Course - Sustainable Cities, supporting young people to understand climate resilience, urban change and green career pathways
·our Horizons Youth Programme for the Environment (HyPE), equipping at-risk young people with employability skills, training and entry points into environmental and retrofit careers
Further plans include:
·developing and rolling out a third BTEC accredited course linked to the under-represented but opportunity-rich digital sector - the Smart Cities;
·completing our transition to Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) status to give us more flexible and agile income-generation options;
·growing Youth Voice as both an income-generating and influence-building strand, enabling young people to shape policy, practice and public discourse; and
·position Voyage as a London leader in youth justice, climate equity and youth-led social innovation, with a developing national profile
Our constitution
Trustees provide oversight and scrutiny of Voyage’s management, operations and strategic direction, ensuring compliance with the Charity Commission and alignment with our mission, vision and values.
We are looking for additional skills in:
·governance and board development
·commercial or business development
·strategic fundraising and income generation

Mavar is currently seeking a seasoned networker to join the Mavar Trustee Board as a Trustee with special responsibilities for strengthening our fundraising practice and broadening the charity’s donor base. Working with our Board and CEO, you’ll bring experience, insight and strategic guidance to help develop our fundraising capacity in support of the strategic development of the charity.
Mavar’s Mission
Founded on the belief that everyone has the right to choose their own path in life, Mavar’s central mission is to empower individuals who choose to explore opportunities beyond the strictly orthodox community to fulfil personal goals. Mavar supports our members’ efforts to achieve independence, live authentically and cope with the obstacles they may encounter as they explore options to live, work or study in the secular world – whether or not they choose to leave the Charedi community.
Trustee Role Details
The day-to-day operations of Mavar are conducted by staff and volunteers under the leadership of our CEO and with the overall oversight of the Trustee Board.
Main Duties of the Fundraising Trustee:
- Contribute to the overall governance of the charity as a member of the Board of Trustees.
- Provide advice and support on fundraising strategy, ensuring income generation is planned and executed in alignment with Mavar’s budget framework and objectives.

If you would like to make a formal application, please send a CV and cover letter outlining your qualifications, relevant expertise and interest in Mavar’s mission to the above. Please put your name and the role you are applying for in the subject line.
Context: Mavar’s Service Users
Some men and women who have grown up in the closed world of the Charedi community hold personal and religious values that are not in line with the rest of the community. Attempts to follow their own path often bring them into direct confrontation with family, friends and neighbours who regard expressions of individualism or self-determination as heresy. These individuals fear that the community will ostracise them, leaving them feeling trapped, isolated and helpless.
Some may simply wish to explore options for obtaining a general education or improving their access to employment opportunities whilst wishing to remain within the ultra-orthodox community; others may look to divest themselves of the strictures of ultra-orthodoxy and to lead a more mainstream lifestyle. They all typically lack the everyday life skills to cope with the challenges of the secular world, which appears to them as a confusing, frightening and alien planet. Any effort to integrate with the outside, secular world is hampered by limited English language skills, cultural disorientation, lack of basic education or qualifications and negligible skills for employment.
This role is advertised as part of TPP's Free Giving Back Services. This volunteer advertisement copy has been supplied to TPP and applicants apply direct to the organisation. Please contact the organisation directly if you have any questions about this volunteer role.

Hey! We’re Urban Youth — and we’re just getting started.
We’re so excited to be launching a brand‑new youth work charity created to give young people across inner London the experiences, opportunities, and space they need to discover themselves and the world around them. A place rooted in care, creativity, belonging, and real connection. A community that feels like home.
And now we’re looking for our first Chair — someone who can help us build the foundations of a movement.
Lead the Board that will shape the future of Urban Youth
Urban Youth is all about possibility. We’re building a youth community where young people can explore who they are, try new things, grow in confidence, and feel part of something bigger. To make that happen, we need a Chair who brings passion, leadership, and a collaborative spirit — someone who can guide us through our start‑up phase and help us build a Board that reflects the energy and diversity of London.
This is a rare opportunity to shape a charity at its very beginning. If you’re excited by purpose, energised by people, and ready to help us make a real difference, we’d love to meet you.
The Role: Volunteer Chair of the Board of Trustees

Ensuring good governance, accountability, and a positive, collaborative Board culture
-
Acting as an ambassador for Urban Youth — building relationships, confidence, and momentum
-
Guiding the Board to make decisions that centre young people and community impact
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for someone who is:
-
Passionate about young people, community, and social change
-
Excited by the energy of building something new
-
A natural leader who brings people together and inspires trust
-
Forward‑thinking, strategic, and comfortable in start‑up environments
-
Collaborative, warm, and able to hold space for different voices
-
Driven, organised, and committed to making a real difference
-
Happy to volunteer their time for a cause that matters
You don’t need decades of board experience — what matters most is your leadership, your values, and your willingness to help us build something meaningful.
What you’ll get
-
A defining leadership role in a brand‑new London youth charity
-
The chance to shape our Board, culture, and long‑term direction
-
A collaborative, passionate team who genuinely value your voice
-
The opportunity to create real, lasting impact for young people
-
A role that grows with you — and with the movement you help build

Someone who wants to:
-
Lead with purpose and heart
