ABOUT THE ROLE

Team: Delivery/ SWNI

As the Project Officer, you will support schools and Local Authorities across Scotland to increase active travel, such as walking, wheeling and cycling. Your work will help pupils, staff and local communities travel in healthier and more sustainable ways.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver behaviour change and engagement projects that encourage active travel.
• Plan, organise and deliver tools and projects that support partners to encourage more walking, wheeling and cycling.
• Build effective working relationships with schools, community groups and local authorities to support these projects. 

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering multiple projects that engage and support partners with a flexible approach to working independently and in teams.

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.

• 3 years’ work experience including experience working with community groups, which may include voluntary work.
• Knowledge of active travel (walking, wheeling and cycling) and an understanding of the barriers faced by underrepresented or disadvantaged communities.

• Strong organisational, problem-solving and workload management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and deliver across multiple projects to tight deadlines.

How can you help? 

As an Events Team Support Volunteer, you will play an important behind-thescenes role in helping our fundraising events run smoothly. You'll help create a positive experience for our supporters from the moment they sign up through to celebrating their achievements after event day. You may be asked to support with a range of activities, including but not limited to:

• Supporter communications: Making phone calls to wish participants good luck before their event, congratulate them afterwards and thank them for their incredible fundraising efforts, as well as preparing and posting good luck cards and other supporter mailings.
• Participant materials: Preparing fundraising packs, participant welcome materials and certificates, ensuring participants receive everything they need.
• Event preparation: Packing event day materials and organising and assembling cheer packs, including banners, pom-poms, signs and other supporter resources.
• Data and administration: Assisting with data entry, updating supporter records, envelope stuffing, labelling and other general administrative tasks.
• Event and team support: Assisting with event logistics in the lead-up to busy fundraising events and helping to ensure the Events Team workspace is tidy, organised and well-stocked.
• Ad hoc support: Supporting wider Events Team projects and administrative tasks, particularly during busy periods, to help keep things running smoothly.

Location and time commitment

This is an office-based volunteering role. We’re therefore looking for someone who is happy to volunteer at our Fleet, Hampshire office initially, before continuing at our new Woking office from early 2027 onwards.

During our busier spring and autumn seasons, we’re looking for a commitment of approximately two hours per week, ideally on a Wednesday. During the quieter summer and winter seasons, this would reduce to approximately two hours every two weeks. We understand that volunteers have other commitments, so we can offer some flexibility and can tailor your experience around your availability. 

Practical considerations You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from one of the Events team, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Help create magical Christmas memories for children and families this festive season by becoming a Santa's Grotto Volunteer!

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to Elf us bring the magic of Christmas to life at our Santa's Grotto in Cardiff's Winter Wonderland.

Whether you're keen to step into Santa's boots or become one of Santa's helpful Elves, you'll play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming and memorable experience for the children and families who visit us.

By volunteering in the grotto, you'll be helping us raise vital funds and awareness to ensure no family in Wales lives their child's short life alone.

Considerations:

Age requirement: 18+

Location: Santa's Grotto, Cardiff Winter Wonderland, City Hall Lawn, Cardiff CF10 3ND

Commitment: Flexible. Shifts typically last 3–4 hours between 26 November and 23 December.

Open Studio Mental Health Arts group

We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic Volunteer to support our Mental health art group ‘Open Studios’ for adults on Thursday afternoons.

Open Studios is a friendly space where people can paint, draw or create without pressure.

This is a workshop space to work on your own choice of art. It is not a taught session, but guidance is available from our artists. Aimed at those who are experiencing social isolation or who are working towards healthier mental wellbeing.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll work closely with the Magic Carpet Artist practitioner/s to create a safe and welcoming space for group members to explore their creativity.

Tasks may include:

• Setting up tables and chairs ready for the group
• Making teas and coffee
• Getting out art materials and resources
• Supporting group members to decide what they might like to do
• Being ‘alongside’ group members (this may include spending time working on your own artwork)

We’re looking for someone who:

• Enjoys supporting people to improve their mental health and wellbeing
• Believes in art and creativity as a powerful tool for prompting wellbeing
• Is reliable, friendly, and comfortable working with people

Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively. As a prison volunteer you will:

About You

We are seeking new lay members of the Ministries Committee for 2026-27, initially for a term of three years, renewable for a further 3 years if appropriate.

The Role

The Ministries Committee reports to the Connexional Council, the trustee body of the Methodist Church in Great Britain. The Committee is charged with responsibility to keep in constant review the life of the Methodist Church as it relates to Ministries, ordained and lay, to reflect strategically and review ministries related work that will enable the ministry and mission of the Church to be more effective, and to review the formational and support needs of those who exercise lay and ordained ministry on behalf of the Church. 

Working collaboratively with other committee members and with the Mission Committee and Resourcing Committee, you will be experienced in chairing committees and bring a range of circuit experiences and other experiences of the Methodist Church to the work of the Ministries Committee.

In order to ensure a diverse mix of lay and ordained members of the committee, applications are particularly invited from lay members of the Methodist Church in Britain including Local Preachers, Worship Leaders and Local Lay Pastors. • Develop stitchers’ skills and confidence by encouraging them to take responsibility as peer mentors.
• Act as an ambassador for the charity and sharing our vision and values throughout your volunteering.

Creative Arts & Drama Group Volunteer

We are looking for friendly, creative Volunteers to support our weekly arts and drama groups for adults. Sessions run throughout the week and provide a relaxed, inclusive space for people to explore creativity, build confidence and support their mental wellbeing.

These are informal, participant-led groups, and our participants include adults who are:

• Non-verbal or have limited verbal communication
• Blind or visually impaired

• explain to the client how long they might be waiting and what will happen and give out a form for clients to fill in
• type up information from the client form onto a spreadsheet or database
• answer the telephone, reply to emails and post
• help with the day to day running of the Citizens Advice service

How much time do you need to give?

We ask for a commitment of 1 day a week for 12 months at least.

Carers Support is looking for a new Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and support the next stage of our development. This is an important voluntary role for someone with strong board or senior governance experience who wants to make a real difference to unpaid carers.

About Carers Support

We are an independent charity supporting thousands of unpaid carers of all ages across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We provide advice, information, practical help, emotional support, training, young carers services and more.

Our vision is that all carers are recognised, valued and supported. We work closely with the NHS, local authorities and voluntary organisations, and hold the Trusted Charity quality mark

Main duties would include:

As Chair of Trustees, you will:

• Lead the Board and help set the charity’s strategic direction

• Support and work closely with the Chief Executive

• Make sure the Board fulfils its legal and governance duties

• Encourage a positive, open and inclusive Board culture

• Ensure meetings are well-run and support good discussion and decision-making

• Help the charity respond to the needs and views of unpaid carers

• Ensure risks, finances and performance are monitored effectively

You do not need previous chairing experience. We are looking for someone with solid board or committee experience who can guide a group and support strong governance.

Time commitment

• 4 board meetings per year (2 hours each)

• Regular meetings with the Chief Executive

• Occasional committee meetings, events or development sessions

• Additional committee meetings, events or development sessions, as required
