Role Description
The Press/Media Manager will work closely with the Communication Officer to lead on the Pagan Federation's media strategy. You will act as a primary point of contact for journalists, broadcasters, and media outlets working to promote positive coverage of Paganism and to respond appropriately to media interest, engaging in both proactive and reactive.
You will develop and oversee press strategies, prepare statements and press releases, brief spokespersons, and assist the organisation in sensitive communications where required. As this is a council-level role within the Pagan Federation you will be expected to provide regular reports to the Communications Officer and the Council of the Pagan Federation.
This is a voluntary role, and volunteers are expected to work remotely. We have volunteers working across England and Wales. Some travel may be necessary, reasonable expenses will be covered in line with our expenses policy.
Qualifications
- At least two years experience in the field of Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar. (Essential)
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in media engagement. (Essential)
- Strong organizational and communication skills to effectively assist in strategic communications planning and discussions. (Essential)
- Commitment to supporting the mission, values, and inclusiveness of the Pagan Federation. (Essential)
- Prior experience in volunteer or nonprofit organisations. (Desirable)
- Membership of a professional organisation in Media, PR, or Communications (desirable)

- Must be aligned with the PF's mission, be willing to conform to our Code of Conduct, and unreservedly support the charitable objectives of the PF.

We are seeking a Volunteer Editorial Lead to oversee the editorial process, work closely with our investigative journalists, and ensure all content aligns with our mission and quality standards. This role is ideal for someone with editorial experience, a passion for social justice, storytelling, or lived experience in the topics we cover.
As Editorial Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping narratives, mentoring volunteer writers, and maintaining a consistent, professional standard across all publications.
Key Responsibilities:
• Edit, proofread, and fact-check content produced by investigative journalists and contributors.
• Work with the team to develop story ideas and content strategies.
• Ensure all content reflects the organization’s values, mission, and tone.
• Mentor and guide journalists, particularly volunteers and emerging talent, in improving writing and investigative skills.
• Collaborate with other team members to plan content schedules and deadlines.
• Maintain high ethical standards, particularly when handling sensitive topics.
• Support the development of editorial guidelines and best practices for contributors.
Requirements:
• Strong editing and writing skills; attention to detail is essential.
• Experience in journalism, media, publishing, or content production (volunteer or professional).
• Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with issues such as childhood trauma, systemic inequality, and mental health is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.
• Passion for storytelling, social impact, and community empowerment.
• Commitment to volunteer work of at least 10 hours per week.

Mudland is building the climate knowledge infrastructure needed to translate Indigenous and frontline intelligence into decision-ready formats for policymakers, funders, and global institutions.
Global climate policy and finance systems often overlook the structured, community-defined evidence held by Indigenous and frontline regions. This disconnect leads to adaptation funding that is misaligned with reality, treating vulnerable communities as "beneficiaries" rather than knowledge holders. In high-stakes ecosystems like the Himalayas, climate data is often extracted without being translated into the institutional language needed to influence real-world decision-making.
Mudland bridges this divide through its Climate Lab and the Himalayan Climate Watch Network. We train Indigenous researchers and storytellers to document climate indicators, developing frameworks that weave together Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) with modern climate science. By translating local evidence into usable formats for global policy and finance spaces, we ensure that frontline intelligence drives institutional action without being extracted or flattened.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Social Media & Communications Associate to help strengthen Mudland’s digital presence and storytelling across platforms.
The role will support communication around Mudland’s projects, including the Himalayan Climate Watch Network, climate storytelling initiatives, and documentary work connected to the studio.
This is a great opportunity for someone interested in climate communication, media, storytelling, and impact-driven projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Support management of Mudland’s social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.)
• Help develop engaging posts, captions, and visual storytelling
• Assist with announcements and communication around Mudland projects
• Support outreach for initiatives such as the HCWN Indigenous Climate Knowledge Fellowship
• Help grow the online community and engagement around Mudland’s work
• Assist in coordinating social media content with partner organisations
Who This Role Is For

• Has an interest in climate, storytelling, media, or social impact
• Enjoys working with social media and digital communication
• Has a creative eye for visuals and storytelling
• Is organised and comfortable working remotely
• Is proactive and open to experimenting with new ideas
Experience with social media tools or design platforms is helpful but not required.
