The difference you will make to cats and people

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home

We’re looking for a Legacy Marketing Volunteer to work alongside our friendly Legacies Team, helping us innovate and energise how we promote this vital source of income.

What you’ll be doing:

• Bringing new ideas to our annual legacy marketing plans

• Supporting awareness campaigns that inspire supporters
• Assisting with data and reporting

This role will take place at Dorothy House Hospice in Winsley, fortnightly on a Wednesday morning.

As a Key Volunteer you’ll be joining a friendly, welcoming team of volunteers and staff who support each other and have a lot of fun along the way. We value every volunteer and the unique perspective, skills and energy you bring.

We value volunteer development, and as part of this role your can develop your skills further by training to become a till user alongside your regular shop volunteer responsibilities, or progressing into a Key volunteer, a role which includes opening, running, and closing the shop in the absence of the manager.

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.

Key responsibilities: Key volunteer 

Being a Key volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop and till volunteer. However, if you’re interested in taking on additional responsibilities, you can train to become a Key Volunteer, helping the shop manager by:

• Helping supervise the shop and other volunteers.
• Supporting the shop manager to make sure customers have a great experience.
• Opening and closing the shop when needed.
• Cashing up at the end of the day.

We’re looking for a warm, British Sign Language Volunteer to provide in house support to Deaf women living in our refuge. This role is all about connection, inclusion and helping women feel fully involved in day to day life within the service.

As a BSL Volunteer, you’ll support communication between service users and staff, help women engage in activities, and be a friendly, reassuring presence in the house.

What you will be doing

• Providing British Sign Language support to Deaf service users within the refuge
• Supporting women to take part in activities
• Helping women communicate their needs to staff
• Offering support with appointments, as and when needed

About the Role

About CaSE

Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE) exists to advocate for UK R&D, for the benefit of lives and livelihoods.

We are a charity and the leading independent voice for UK R&D, supported by a diverse membership of businesses, universities, professional bodies, research charities and individuals. Our members span discovery research, science, engineering and innovation across the public, private, and charitable sectors. 

We collaborate with our members, partners and the public to lend our expert voice to decisions about R&D and develop non-partisan solutions that can help R&D to thrive. 

CaSE is a small organisation that has a big impact. Recent projects include a horizon-scanning exercise to map the trade-offs facing policymakers and R&D organisations, an innovative campaign to raise political awareness of R&D during the Holyrood and Senedd elections, and a landmark national tracker study to monitor public attitude to R&D. CaSE also maintains an active media presence and hosts events, such as our flagship Annual Lecture.

The opportunity

As Chair, you will be tasked with getting the most out of CaSE’s talented Board members and strategically channelling this to support CaSE’s small but highly productive team.

While the role is not remunerated, trustees can claim reasonable travel expenses.

The appointment would run for three years from November 2026 (when the current Chair reaches the end of their term), with the option of a second term. 

The expected time commitment is ~10 hours per month, including quarterly Board meetings, committee work and external representation.

The role

CaSE is entering an exciting new phase, with plans to further expand its impact, profile and income. The Chair leads the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its fiduciary, statutory, strategic, and advocacy responsibilities. 

While candidates will be expected to have a broad range of relevant skills, the deep expertise and commitment of the wider CaSE Board offers space for in-role development to strengthen any specific skills gaps.

Make a Difference with Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA)

Are you experienced in finance or accounting and looking for a rewarding way to give back to your local community?

At Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA), we are seeking a Volunteer  to join our charity and help support the important work we do for adults living with dementia, mental health conditions, and other long-term health needs across Essex.

This voluntary role requires approximately 2–3 hours per week and offers the opportunity to use your financial skills to make a real difference.

The Role

• Maintain oversight of the charity's financial records.

• Help keep our accounts up to date and well organised.

• Prepare and review profit and loss reports and other financial information.

• Work alongside the Charity Manager and Board of Trustees to support good financial governance.

• Provide financial guidance where appropriate.

• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a similar financial role.

SHASBAH is in need  of a  Volunteer Treasurer to help continue our 60 year old charity and ensure smooth running of the charity finances while providing the  trustee board and staff with appropriate budgetary and financial information on the activities of the charity including organising annual accounts. 

A Treasurer maintains effective governance of the organisations affairs, ensuring its financial viability and ensuring that proper processes and procedures exist for assuring all financial records, decisions and delegations are maintained. Ensuring  our mission statement is being fulfilled. SHASBAH charity has trustees with a range of skills and lots of lived experience and has a small staff team. 

The Treasurer role will include:

•  Ensuring  that all accounts are prepared and disclosed in the form required by funders and the relevant statutory bodies including Charity Commission.

• Providing guidance and reviews of financial grants, loans and investments. 

• Recommending to our trustees and staff appropriate accounting procedures, controls and policies.

• Becoming a joint account holder and signatory. 

•  Working in close partnership with the Director of services in executing their responsibilities and achieving the charity goals.

• Ensuring that appropriate financial policies are in place. 

As a Treasurer you will be required to provide monthly updates on the charity finances to the trustees and attend quarterly meetings via zoom or in person. Approx 8 hours a month in total.  All are welcome to attend any events or meetings. 

Connection Support has a range of services providing support to people at risk of homelessness or on the edge of needing social care. We work with people made vulnerable through debt, mental health issues, substance misuse, learning disability, and physical disabilities.

Volunteers play a key role in the provision of vital services to our clients.

Are you a reliable handyperson who can undertake, upkeep, and repair a range of tasks for our housing support clients?

• Do you have 1-2 hours a week to make basic home improvements to client’s accommodation?
• Are you a dab hand at DIY and want to put your handyperson skills to good use?
• Do you have an interest in motivating people to make positive changes in their lives through acquiring new skills?

No volunteering experience is required however the below skills are essential:

• Practical skills in DIY and/or gardening
• Good listening and communication skills
• Excellent people skills to enable you to work with a range of individuals with complex backgrounds

• Ability to build effective working relationships with clients in a non-patronising way

A Peer Mentor is a volunteer who has experienced similar challenges and experiences as the person they are supporting. Being a peer mentor is seen as a positive and secure way to progress towards education, work, or employment.

Volunteers who take on peer support roles can feel empowered, have a greater confidence and a more positive sense of identity.

Do you have a passion for African and Diaspora history and a vision for empowering communities through knowledge?

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C. is seeking a Volunteer African & Diaspora Book Club Coordinator to join our founding volunteer team. This role focuses on creating a welcoming learning space where community members can explore African and Diaspora history, literature and ideas together.

As Book Club Coordinator, you will organise and facilitate a book club programme that encourages reflection, discussion and shared learning. Working with the Membership Director and Community Engagement team, you will help create meaningful conversations that build knowledge, cultural pride and collective understanding.

This role blends facilitation, coordination and community engagement to support a learning space rooted in respect, curiosity and cultural awareness.

Experience, Qualifications and Requirements

• Knowledge or strong interest in African and Diaspora history, literature, and cultural movements
