We value volunteer development, and as part of this role your can develop your skills further by training to become a till user alongside your regular shop volunteer responsibilities, or progressing into a Key volunteer, a role which includes opening, running, and closing the shop in the absence of the manager.

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service, helping create a wonderful shopping experience.
• Receiving donated items from the public, thanking them for their support.
• Sorting, steaming and preparing donations for sale.

• Keeping the shop floor clean, safe and tidy.
• Talking to customers about Sense and the work we do.

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role for a Financial Director and trustee. The role will ensure that the financial affairs of the Charity are conducted within legal requirements, accounting conventions and good practice and in conjunction with the General Manager to protect and enhance the financial wellbeing of the Charity. 

Reports to:

Board of Trustees

Major Accountabilities:

• To lead in developing financial plans for the Charity with income and expenditure goals which are attainable within the resources available to the Charity 

• To ensure that the Board is aware of its financial responsibilities and options available 

• To ensure suitable systems for budgeting, financial control, risk management, insurance, and accounting records are in place

• To assist the external accountants with processing more complex transactions, recording capex, raising prepayments and accruals at month-ends and to work with them to ensure compliance with HMRC requirements as appropriate

• To keep Trustees informed about Charity’s finances by written report, at least on a quarterly basis. To communicate with relevant department heads and other staff so as to maintain a clear picture of the financial health of the organisation

• To work with the Charity’s external accountants and auditor/independent examiner to meet external reporting requirements, including grant reporting and the annual financial report to members

• To know, abide by and promote the Charity’s values, policies and objectives, including to external parties. To support appropriate communication between the Board and staff, members and stakeholders

OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Using the voluntary working practices, policies, procedures and values set by Alex TLC, work with paid staff to ensure the charity shop business is run accordingly.

Work to the high standards expected at all Alex TLC shop premises according to the requests of the Shop Manager.

Work as a team member, taking full responsibility for all shop duties undertaken.

Participate in all training and legislative checks required by Alex TLC, statutory and specific to role.

CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES (INTERNAL & EXTERNAL)

Maintain excellent levels of customer service (remembering customer service extends to colleagues and service providers, as well as customers), going above and beyond where possible.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Expert knowledge of the safe and correct use of all equipment used in the day to day running of the charity shop, for example the till, steamer, pricing equipment. Training is provided.

OTHER FEATURES OF JOB

Hours of work are according to those agreed between yourself and the Shop Manager.

• Accepting donations from members of the public, speaking to the donors and asking them a few questions..
• Following clear instructions to label donations in order to maximise income.
• This role may include occasionally lifting boxes. We prioritise a safe working environment and provide comprehensive health and safety training to all volunteers.

Cambridgeshire ACRE is looking for a new Trustee & Treasurer to join our Board and help shape the future of rural communities across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

For more than 100 years, Cambridgeshire ACRE has supported rural communities through projects focused on affordable housing, community wellbeing, village halls, environmental action and rural leadership. We work alongside local people and organisations to help communities thrive.

We are seeking someone who can support the Board with strategic financial oversight and help ensure the long-term sustainability of the organisation.

This is not an operational bookkeeping role and we are not necessarily looking for someone with a formal accountancy qualification. We would particularly welcome applications from people who are confident interpreting financial information and contributing to strategic discussions and decision-making.

The Treasurer is a full member of the Board of Trustees and chairs the Finance Committee.

Cats Protection in Poole are looking for a Volunteer Cashier in our charity shop.

Ideally you'll enjoy fashion, and the fun of a charity shop - you'll help shoppers find hidden gems. You'll help keep us looking beautiful - maintaining the shop floor, filling up our clothing rails, and using your creativity to help create exciting displays. You'll also be meeting our customers and helping them shop, as well as our kind donors, supporters, and cat-lovers!

Your kindness and hard work will help us care for cats and kittens in the Dorset area, with links to our Ferndown homing centre.

• Talking to customers about Sense and the work we do.

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.

About the position

The Video Editor Assistant will help coordinate all video and podcast production activities, supporting the design and delivery of high-quality content across various platforms. This role provides flexibility and autonomy, with opportunities for professional growth and development.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare and edit diverse video content for social media, including documentaries, promos and highlight videos.

• Adhere to a clear and comprehensive system for content files and archives.

• Assist in post-production-related tasks as needed.

• Contribute to the creative process of production of videos, by sharing ideas and discussing themes and directions of projects 

• Prepare and edit footage to uphold brand style 

• Find scripts and other source materials for video and podcast projects.

• Maintain a clear and comprehensive system for content files and archives.

• Assist in production-related tasks as needed.

• Monitor post-production processes to ensure accurate completion of details.

• Edit video content for various platforms, including web, social media, and broadcast.

• Collaborate with the creative team to develop and execute the visual style and narrative structure of video projects.

• Apply sound effects, music, graphics, and special effects to enhance the final product.

• Ensure all video content adheres to brand guidelines and quality standards.

• Manage and maintain video and podcast files, ensuring proper storage and organization.

 Essential

• Demonstrate experience with Adobe Premier Pro

• Experience with Final Cut, Da Vinci Resolve  and Avid (not essential, but an advantage).

• Demonstrate some video production experience 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

• Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of tasks 

• Focused, organized and able to prioritize and execute tasks independently 

• Passion in martial arts is preferable, although not a must

• Well-organized, proactive, self-starter, and able to deliver tasks efficiently.

• Good time-management skills.

Desirable

• Bachelor’s degree in film studies, Cinematography, or a related field.

• Experience with colour correction and sound design.

• Familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.

• Experience in a fast-paced production environment.

• Knowledge of podcast production and editing.
