Senior Grant Writer & Proposal Development Specialist

We are seeking a high-level Grant Writer to support the development of compelling, funder-ready proposals for institutional and global funding opportunities.

What You Will Do

Plateful Café works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities in Lewisham. Our commitment is to reach the most vulnerable people in our community and open a pathway to employment for people who have asylum here. Refugees will benefit from workshops, training skills and knowledge relevant for the catering industry. Plateful Cafe are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all volunteers and team members. What will the role involve?

• Looking for partnership opportunities with the private sector.
• Assisting with the development and ongoing work of Businesses Fundraising Action Group.
• Assisting in planning fundraising strategies with local businesses.

Role Purpose

This is a senior volunteer leadership role designed to provide strategic and operational resilience across the department.

The Deputy Head works across both the Ethics Team and the Research Reporting Team, ensuring that ethical standards, research integrity and high‑quality reporting are upheld across all departmental activity.

Core Duties

• Support the Head of Department in delivering strategic and operational leadership.

• Provide continuity, stability and leadership resilience across the department.

• Lead delegated strategic initiatives or operational areas as assigned by the Head of Department.

Role Requirements (Deputy Head)

Given the seniority and responsibility of this volunteer role, the following experience is required:

• A PhD is required, along with postdoctoral research experience, or significant academic or practical research experience at an equivalent level, demonstrating advanced expertise in research design, ethics, governance or reporting.

• Substantial experience in research ethics, research governance or research leadership, ideally across multiple projects or teams.

• Experience in strategic planning, departmental oversight or senior‑level decision‑making, whether in a volunteer, academic or professional context.

• A strong track record of ethical decision‑making, particularly in roles where judgement, integrity and risk assessment were central.

• Experience with research reporting, research communication or academic publication processes is highly beneficial.

• A strong interest in ethical governance, research integrity and maintaining high standards across research projects.

• Familiarity with GDPR and responsible data management practices, or willingness to develop this knowledge quickly.

• Experience working with volunteers or mixed‑experience teams is advantageous.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, confident, and creative Volunteer Senior Social Media Manager to take ownership of Influential Stars’ social media presence across multiple platforms.

This is a hands-on role for someone capable of planning, creating, and scheduling purposeful content that raises awareness, builds community engagement, and supports campaigns across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and grow Influential Stars’ social media presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn

• Plan, create, and schedule consistent content aligned with the organisation’s mission and tone of voice

• Develop content that inspires awareness, connection, and positive action

• Share stories, campaigns, and updates in a sensitive and engaging way

The Plateful Café works to relieve poverty and isolation amongst refugees, asylum seekers and ethnic minorities in Lewisham. Refugees will benefit from workshops, training skills and knowledge relevant for catering industry.

 As a small charity, a modest sum of money raised can enable our projects to take place. As such, the role of volunteer fundraiser is essential.  We are seeking to appoint enthusiastic, well-organised and highly motivated people to assist our Grants and Funding team  with the research and writing of funding applications to secure vitally needed funds for the charity.

The duties will include:

• Conduct research into trusts and foundations 
• Write funding applications
• Attend monthly team meeting
• Supporting the fundraising team in any other ways as required.

Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills in fluent English
• Excellent research skills and ability to work with considerable initiative

About Us

The Women & Families Resource Centre (WFRC) is a Wolverhampton-based charity supporting women and families facing challenging circumstances. Through our charity shop, Baby Bank, and community services, we provide essential support and resources to those in need.

Role Overview

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on IT Support (Onsite Volunteer) to ensure all technical equipment and POS (Point of Sale) systems are fully functional and ready for daily operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, basic IT setup, and being the go-to person for technical support in a busy charity environment.

Key Responsibilities POS System Setup & Maintenance

• Set up and configure POS systems for daily use
• Ensure systems are logged in and ready before opening
• Troubleshoot issues such as payment errors, crashes, or connectivity problems

Equipment Setup & Management

• Install and maintain computers, laptops, printers, and barcode scanners
• Ensure all devices are properly connected and working efficiently

Internet & Connectivity Support

• Maintain stable internet connection for POS and staff usage

Daily Equipment Checks

• Check POS systems, printers, and scanners before operations begin
• Ensure printers are stocked (paper, labels, etc.)
• Report and resolve issues quickly

️ Onsite Technical Support

• Assist staff and volunteers with using systems and equipment
• Provide quick fixes for common technical issues
• Act as the first point of contact for IT-related support

Inventory & Asset Tracking

• Maintain records of all IT equipment and accessories
• Report damaged or missing items

 Workstation Setup

• Set up new stations for staff or volunteers
• Install required tools and ensure systems are ready to use

Troubleshooting & Escalation

• Resolve basic technical issues (restart systems, check connections, etc.)
• Escalate complex problems to management when needed

Help us digitise RAF Museum’s paper-based collections information, to improve its accessibility, searchability and preservation.

What is the role?

The Collection and Research Team at the RAF Museum Midlands holds a significant number of paper-based records on its objects, ranging from provenance information, details of past conservation treatments, the service histories of specific aircraft, and historical correspondence. The Collections Information Digitisation Volunteer will assist our team to digitise these records. While securely stored, digitising these records will produce many benefits, including making them shareable with external researchers, searchable for the Museum’s own team, and helping to ensure their longer-term preservation.

This role sits within the RAF Museum’s Midlands Development Programme which will transform our museum and our impact on the local community through a series of phased projects – engaging audiences who may not obviously identify with the RAF story by finding common interests and histories which link them. As part of this project, we are planning a new learning centre, outdoor spaces, collections hub and major exhibition.

What will I be doing?

• Scanning object history files and museum forms,

• Administrating scans produced within a set file structure,

• Adapting existing digital documentation to make it shareable externally,

• Developing an understanding of information security and GDPR,

• Developing an understanding of museum sector practices and procedures.

This role is perfect for you if you…

· Have good IT Skills, including the Windows OS, Microsoft Word and Outlook,

· Can lift and carry documents, and operate a scanner,

· Can carry out tasks methodically, with good accuracy attention to detail,

· Have an interest in history and/or heritage.

How much time would I need to commit?

One full day or half day, ideally once a week, between 10.00 and 16.00 at the RAF Museum Midlands.

Purpose of the Role

To join the board as a Volunteer Finanical Director, bringing governance knowledge and strategic thinking to strengthen board effectiveness, uphold the CIC's obligations, and ensure all decisions are made in the best interests of the community we serve.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Guide the Board

• Attend two to three board meetings per month, virtual or hybrid, and come prepared to contribute
• Help ensure decisions are made properly, recorded, and followed through
• Review and respond to decisions outside of meetings within 48 to 72 hours
• Support the review of policies and raise questions when something needs attention
• Support the development of projects and programmes by contributing ideas, strategic thinking, critical insight, and creative, innovative approaches, while bringing energy, boldness, and enthusiasm.

• Monitor organisational performance and support the Managing Director in delivery accountability

It would be great if you also have:

• Governance experience such as trustee, governor, or board-level involvement, though this is not essential

• Training and induction will be provided for the right candidate

This role is open to graduate and university students (aged 18+) who are looking to gain real leadership and governance experience. If you are early in your career and passionate about community impact, we want to hear from you. Ongoing support will be provided.

Seed Sowers are a group of volunteers dedicated to supporting the growth of The Green House. The aims of the volunteer group are:

• To help the Green House grow our funding, networks and audience
• Give advice and feedback on fundraising campaigns and strategies
• Lead and support fundraising initiatives
• Make introductions to potential collaborators like business contacts, influencers, public figures
• Represent the charity at events and talks

The role focuses on advancing the charity’s mission through fundraising and networking. The Seed Sowers is an advisory and action-oriented group, focused on proactively amplifying The Green House’s fundraising and communications initiatives and increasing the charity’s income and visibility.

The group will be led by an appointed volunteer Chair, who will coordinate activity and act as the primary point of contact.

About YAUK

Youth Advantage UK is a charitable organization that uses a research-led approach to inform policy work and projects that aim to promote and further the human rights of young people aged 11 to 25 across the United Kingdom.
