The online marketplace is a fantastic way to support our fundraising efforts and boost vital donations for the Hospice. When selling items online, we take the time to research each item, snap some great photos, set fair prices, and list them on the right platforms. If you enjoy online shopping, have a good eye for detail and a flair for photography, then this could be the perfect role for you!

Ideally, you will commit to a 4 hour shift between 10am and 2pm on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays.

You’ll be comfortable using online marketplace platforms (especially Ebay), confident writing product descriptions, and taking photos with the provided smartphone on a white background. By volunteering as an E-commerce Assistant Volunteer, you’ll not only gain new skills, knowledge, and social networks, you’ll be making a difference in your local community.

Volunteer Lay Members of Chapter

We are seeking three new lay volunteers to join the Chapter, the Cathedral's governing body and board of trustees.

Position: Lay Members of Chapter

Location: Chichester

Contract: Chapter members are appointed for an initial three-year period and may be reappointed for a further three years.

Chapter meets 6 or 7 times a year and these are, ideally, in-person meetings held at the Cathedral though it can usually accommodate online participation. These meetings are generally up to three hours long and members are also required to prepare in advance. One of the six meetings is reserved to include a full day “Away Day” which is usually held at another location.

The Role

These voluntary positions offer an opportunity to help shape the future of the Cathedral, supporting its mission, governance and long-term sustainability. We are particularly interested in individuals who can provide strategic leadership with experience in safeguarding, commercial operations or data protection.

Lay Chapter Members work collaboratively with clergy, employees and fellow trustees to provide oversight, constructive challenge and strategic direction. Chapter normally meets six or seven times each year, and reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

We're seeking communicant members of the Church of England who can think strategically, work collaboratively and contribute positively to the governance of a complex organisation. Successful candidates will be able to analyse information, support sound decision-making and act as ambassadors for the Cathedral.

About You

The Cathedrals Measure requires that Chapter Members are communicant members of the Church of England or of another church which subscribes to the doctrine of the Holy Trinity.

You will have experience in one of the following key areas:

Safeguarding - Significant experience, understanding or professional exposure to safeguarding, risk management, compliance or regulatory frameworks.

Commercial operations - Commercial operations experience in either property, hospitality or retail, ideally obtained within a similar environment.

GDPR - A good understanding of relevant data protection laws, including GDPR, PECR, and their application within a charity setting.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and trustworthy volunteer to support our online sales through Vinted and eBay. If you enjoy spotting valuable items, researching prices, taking photos or have an interest in online selling, this could be a rewarding role for you.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll help us raise extra funds by preparing and listing donated items for sale online.

Tasks may include:

• Identifying suitable donated items for online sale
• Preparing and presenting items for listing
• Taking clear, appealing photographs
• Researching pricing and helping value items
• Creating listings on Vinted and eBay
• Monitoring and assisting with online sales activity
• Packing sold items ready for posting
• Taking parcels to local drop-off points
• Helping maximise income from donated goods

We’re looking for someone who:

As a Volunteer Donor Relationship Co-ordinator, you will play a crucial role in forming and maintaining relationships with our donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated, whilst forming & implementing a strategy to keep them donating. This role would suit someone who is confident, enthusiastic about building strong connections, and passionate about the welfare of refugees & asylum seekers.

Key responsibilities:

• Identify and approach local high net worth individuals/businesses to approach for a regular donation
• Develop a donor relationship strategy aimed at maximising engagement and satisfaction.
• Personally reach out to existing donors to thank them for their contributions (& send seasonal cards/other personalised messages to maintain positive relationships).
• Build relationships by engaging with donors via phone calls and emails to understand their motivations for donating and gather feedback used to improve our efforts.
• Encourage previous donors to continue their support.
• Keep detailed and accurate records of all our donor interactions to ensure we have up-to-date information on our supporters.
• Create and distribute surveys to gain insights into our donors’ needs and expectations.
• Further down the line, host webinars or live Q&A sessions to answer donor questions and provide updates on our work.

Challenge Adventure Group (“CAG” for short and the operating name of CAG Trust) is a voluntary youth organisation for Knowle, Dorridge and beyond aimed at boys aged 10 and above.

As our name suggests, we provide challenging, adventurous and fun activities and the D of E Award for young people in their leisure time. Taking part in fun experiential activities enables members to develop their physical and mental skills and capacities and reach their full potential of becoming positive, active and happy citizens.

Summary

CAG was formed in 2009 and became a charity, CAG Trust, in 2019.  You will be in charge of CAG’s kit which is kept at various locations, most of which is at the base in Bickenhill.  You will be responsible for advising,  sourcing, acquisition and logging of new kit and supplies and will ensure that it is in an excellent condition to be used for our trips and activities. A key responsibility of the Stores & Equipment Manager is to keep track of all inventory: signing it out for trips / activities and then back in when it is returned.  You will also determine how quickly supplies are being used, and when they may need to be replenished. You will also be responsible for ensuring the kit is repaired and is continually available for use. It is up to the quartermaster to understand what the situation may be and know when inventory is likely to be depleted based on any particular set of circumstances. 

Description

Responsibilities:

• Carry out an annual audit of the kit and liaise with the Treasurer and Secretary to ensure that the insurance is up to date.

• Research and advise the committee and leaders on options for new kit / kit replacement.

• Plan the replacement of old kit acquisition of new kit.

• Keep the storeroom secured, organised and in good order by ensuring everything is in the right place.

• Log out any items and keep track of who has them and where.

• Log in any items after they have been used and check them over for damage / wear and tear.

• Buy supplies to mend any broken items.

• Replace any items that are beyond repair.

• Ensure members / leaders to return kit once they have finished with it and it is returned in good order.

• Ensure that any lost / damaged kit is invoiced out to the member / leader.

• Coordinate kit availability with trip plans and funding / grants.

• Visit offsite venues to check kit stored elsewhere.

• Communicate frequently with the Group Leader and CAG Management Committee to keep them up to date.

We are looking for a volunteer who ideally should have / be:

• Commitment to CAG and its ethos.

• Organised and tidy.

• Self-motivated, proactive and good at managing your own time.

• The ability to build and maintain relationships. 

• Drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion. 

• The ability to work as part of a team.

• A willingness to carry out a range of administrative tasks. 

• Excellent budgeting skills.

• Good at practical tasks like mending broken tents and other kit.

• A car driver or have ability to travel to attend events and meetings.

• The post holder must be able to provide a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.

About the location

Where will the volunteer be working?

The volunteer can partially work from home and will also be required to attend weekly Tuesday night club meetings at Bickenhill to run the store room.

Travel Limit

The candidate should also be available for face to face Committee and other meetings.

When will the volunteer be working?

Volunteer availability

• Weekly Tuesday evening club nights.

• You would need to be available to attend Committee meetings which normally take place in the evening.

• Very occasional weekends and evenings to attend events.

Estimate of time commitment

• 0 - 3 hours / week.
