Global Health Access Trust is inviting expressions of interest from experienced philanthropists, entrepreneurs, family-office professionals and senior business leaders who may be suited to joining the GHAT Strategic Philanthropy & Impact Council.
The Council is a selective advisory pathway for people who can bring experience, relationships and strategic thinking to GHAT’s long-term public-benefit work — and, where they choose, help open doors or contribute resources.
Global Health Access Trust (GHAT) develops, funds and coordinates defined projects that advance health, relieve illness and preserve life for the public benefit. Our work brings together professional and clinical expertise, human capability, responsible technology, essential infrastructure, trusted local relationships and accountable funding.
What you could contribute
• Offer strategic perspective on impact, growth and long-term sustainability
• Share relevant experience of building, funding or supporting serious organisations and initiatives
• Help GHAT think critically about philanthropy, partnerships and sustainable public-benefit funding

Who this could suit
We welcome expressions of interest from philanthropists, founders, entrepreneurs, investors, family-office and private-client professionals, and senior business leaders with an interest in health access and sustainable public benefit.
This is not a routine volunteering role. Council involvement is selective and designed for people able to contribute high-level judgement, experience or relationships periodically rather than undertake regular operational tasks.
The opportunity can usually be undertaken remotely from any country.
Expressing an interest does not confer Council membership. Membership is selective and follows review and appropriate due diligence by Global Health Access Trust.
The opportunity is voluntary and unpaid. There is no salary, fee, employment benefit or entitlement to expenses.

Become Treasurer of Bristol Historic Buildings Trust - help put a Grade I landmark on a sustainable footing
Bristol Historic Buildings Trust (BHBT) is looking for a Treasurer to join our Board as we bring Ashton Court Mansion back into full public life.
Ashton Court Mansion is a Grade I listed manor house with origins in the 14th century, set within an 850-acre estate on the edge of Bristol. Around three quarters of the building remains derelict. We are working with Bristol City Council to take a 125-year lease and regenerate the Mansion as a living civic place where heritage, creativity and public life meet.
This is a real moment of transition. We are already in the building under a tenancy at will, have refurbished the first rooms and begun taking event bookings. We are converting to a Charitable Community Benefit Society and preparing to launch a Community Share Offer shortly, raising community investment towards the lease and the first phase of works. Restoration of the whole building is a multi-decade, grant-led programme of significant scale.
Our vision is a building that works as a place of celebration, incubation and education, programmed around five areas: food, culture and arts, skills, nature and outdoors, and heritage.
The Treasurer will be central to how credibly we make that case.
What we are looking for
•A qualified accountant, or equivalent senior finance experience
•Confidence with charity finance, or solid general finance experience and the appetite to pick up the charity-specific parts with us
•Experience overseeing budgets, management accounts and cashflow in an organisation moving from small to substantially larger
•Comfort scrutinising a multi-year financial model and its assumptions, and explaining the numbers plainly to fellow trustees, funders and the public
•Ideally, exposure to community shares, social investment or capital fundraising - though this is not essential
What the role involves
•Leading Board-level financial oversight: budget approval, management accounts, annual accounts, reserves and risk
•Helping us stand behind the financial disclosures in our lease case and share offer documents
•4 quarterly board meetings per year (March, June, September, December), approx. 2 hours each, plus Finance and Audit Committee meetings
•An annual strategy day
•Terms of up to 3 years (renewable)
•The role is unremunerated; reasonable expenses are reimbursed

The Chair of the Oaklea Board of Trustees will:
- Ensure the Board functions effectively
- Guide Oaklea Trust’s strategic direction
- Ensure governance oversight
- Represent Oaklea Trust internally and externally
- Evaluate and support the Chief Executive
- Champion the leadership of Committees
We are seeking a new Chair of Trustees who can bring the following experience and capabilities to the role. We recognise that lived experience can offer valuable insights that greatly enhance a role like this, especially when combined with professional expertise.
Experience/Background:
- Experience of strategic leadership and governance within an organisation of equivalent size and complexity to Oaklea Trust, ideally within a Group structure.
- A track record of driving growth and innovation, with the ability to apply insight to support the achievement of Oaklea Trust’s strategic objectives.
- Understanding of the challenges associated with leading and delivering regulated services and the management of the associated risks.
- Ability to constructively challenge and hold space for compassionate and constructive conversations.
- Financial and commercial acumen, including experience in financial planning, oversight, risk management, and the establishment and monitoring of systems of control and accountability.
- Ability to scrutinise and manage financial risk, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and safeguarding against fraud.
- Ability to open doors, build networks and maximise opportunities with a range of stakeholders, funders and partner organisations.
- Previous trustee and/or Chair/Vice Chair experience is desirable.
