The difference you will make to cats and people

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising volunteers use their passion for cats and people to raise the vital funds needed to help more cats and kittens in need. As a fundraising volunteer we want to support you to fundraise in whatever way suits you best, whether that’s organising a fundraising event, fundraising online, promoting fundraising activities on social media, completing administration or supporting the development of new fundraising ideas! Whatever your skill set, this could be the role for you!

What we need from you

This is a really flexible role – you can choose what you’d like to get involved with, for example:

• face-to-face fundraising. Organising or helping with fundraising events, running supermarket collections and fundraising stands, monitoring collection tins 
• online fundraising. Setting up online appeals and writing impactful cat case studies that maximise donations
• marketing. Spreading the word about our fundraising activities, for example on social media and with the local press
• completing administration. Processing donations, sorting and recording donated goods, completing Gift Aid paperwork
• championing our work. Getting involved with developing new fundraising ideas and increasing community engagement
• photography. Capturing images of cats in care, cats we are helping, events and all things Cats Protection
• You’ll need to be aged 18+ to volunteer in this role. If you’re aged 16-17, you’ll need to be supervised by a friend, family member, or guardian over the age of 18 in order to carry out any fundraising activity.

Time expectation

This is a flexible role that can fit around your other commitments to suit you. You’ll be part of a team raising vital funds while having fun in the process!

About IRMO

IRMO works to enable the development, agency, and participation of Latin Americans and other Spanish and Portuguese speakers, by responding to both immediate needs and structural inequalities. We do this by offering high-quality information and advice services, opportunities for development and training, and a platform to seek social and systemic change. Our work is organised across three main operational areas - Advice and Casework; Education, Training and Employment; Children and Young People - and a cross-cutting area - Advocacy, Research, Policy Mapping and Campaigning. 

About our Education, Training and Employment Programme

Our comprehensive Education, Training and Employment (ETE) programme runs various activities to improve our beneficiaries' social and cultural integration in the UK. These activities include 12-week English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses for adults and online conversation classes. 

We also deliver one-to-one employment support, mentoring, vocational training, and workshops on a range of topics to support the Latin American community in navigating the UK system. Additionally, our volunteer scheme provides volunteers with valuable work experience to enter London’s competitive job market. As well as being integral to the smooth running of our organisation, the scheme helps volunteers to develop their skills by working in a multicultural, collaborative and inspiring environment.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and organised volunteer to support the ETE Programme Assistant in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the programme. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in administration, programme coordination, and community services.

The volunteer will play a key role in helping the ETE team stay organised, efficient, and responsive to the needs of service users and staff. This role supports the ETE Programme Assistant in delivering high-quality services, contributing to the overall impact and effectiveness of the programme.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Assist with general day-to-day administrative tasks to support the organisation of ESOL classes, level assessments and events

• Communicate with service users, including responding to and monitoring general enquiries via WhatsApp and email

• Send reminder messages for classes, assessments, or events

• Support with data entry as well as managing and updating databases, including attendance registers and service user contact information

• Support outreach activities, including distributing flyers, posters and informative material both online via social media and in-person to key community hubs such as libraries, shops, cafés and churches

• Assist with updating, uploading and printing materials related to ETE activities

• Help with any other tasks requested by the ETE Programme Assistant

We are looking for

• Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken); knowledge of Portuguese is an advantage

• A flexible and enthusiastic person who is confident in working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• Good IT skills, including in using Microsoft and Google suite packages, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and databases

• Good interpersonal and communication skills with attention to detail

• A caring, sensitive and non-judgemental manner

• Knowledge of how to deal with sensitive and confidential information

• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to CRM systems

• Good organisational and time management skills

• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, without constant supervision 

• Interest in education, employment support, or community work

• Understanding of issues facing Latin American migrants in the UK

• Basic DBS Check (completed through IRMO)

• Safeguarding Level 1 certificate (completed through IRMO)

• One month trial period

A little bit about us:

Teach A Man To Fish is an international educational charity with one all-encompassing mission: to empower young people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work and life. We use our school-business model to guide young people and their teachers in the planning and setting up of student-led school businesses that are both educational and profitable. Since 2006, we have supported over 438,000 young people and trained 19,000 teachers through our programmes to set up school businesses which have generated more than $2,000,000 in income! In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic affecting schools worldwide, we launched a new programme: the Enterprise Adventure, a free mobile app for teenagers who want to learn about business and have a positive impact on their community.

The role:

We are looking for one or two volunteers to support the work of our International Programmes team. The ideal candidate will be available to volunteer for 15 hours per week for at least 3 months (ideally more). If you are based in London, you are welcome to volunteer from our office in Finsbury Park, otherwise you may volunteer from home if you prefer. 

You will have the opportunity to get involved with a wide variety of tasks depending on your skills, interests and the time of the year. These include but are not limited to:

• Helping to deliver our marketing strategy (e.g. social media content creation, website updates, carrying out research to increase our reach)

• Helping to deliver our communications and engagement strategy to programme participants (liaising with and engaging young people and teachers through newsletters, blog posts, social media, videos and WhatsApp)

• Supporting with designing educational materials and thinking of business quizzes (knowledge-based and trivia-based)

• Supporting with coordinating the review of School Enterprise Challenge, the Enterprise Adventure and the Trash To Cash Challenge submissions and sending feedback and certificates 

• Contributing to the Monitoring & Evaluation of the programmes through data analysis to inform donor reports and programme improvements

• Gathering and analysing feedback from programme participants (for example through surveys and ‘user testing’ sessions on Zoom) 

The successful candidate(s) will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a positive can-do attitude, with lots of initiative. 

In return, Teach A Man To Fish can offer a stimulating environment with plenty of opportunity to learn more about the development sector and the operations of a small international NGO with a large reach. With all our volunteer placements we try to tailor work to the candidates' areas of interest and provide valuable career guidance and advice. Essential:

Terms:

Location: Our office in London (Finsbury Park) or remote.

Hours: Ideally 15 hours per week. You can fit your volunteering around other commitments (e.g. holidays, studies or another job) and choose whether you would prefer to volunteer for 2 or more full days a week, or spread the hours over more weekdays. The time commitment is flexible, so please state your availability in your cover letter.

Length: Minimum 2 months with the possibility of extension. Starting at the end of August/early September. A commitment of 3 months is preferred.

Basis: Voluntary position. Travel allowance will be provided.

These sessions are designed to help children build confidence, resilience, and English language skills, while fostering a sense of belonging and joy in their new environment.

Commitment

Key Responsibilities

• Support lead facilitator in delivering playful, interactive learning activities (such as arts, storytelling, and games) and help with setup and pack-up.

• Build rapport with the children to encourage active participation and maintain a safe, welcoming, and positive environment.

• Support data collection, documentation and evaluation activities. 

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are looking for someone who: 

• Has an academic background in social sciences or education (preferred). 

• Is able to engage children, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds. Experience with refugee or asylum-seeking children is a bonus but not required. 

• Is patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive, with an understanding of the challenges refugee children face as they adapt to a new country. 

• Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with the main facilitator and other team members. 

• Is enthusiastic and reliable, committed to attending sessions every Thursday. 

• Has an enhanced DBS check.

Support Provided

• A structured session plan will be created by the main facilitator for you to follow. 

• Guidance and training on working with vulnerable children will be provided. 

• Reasonable travel expenses covered.

We are now looking for a new Chair to lead our Board at this pivotal moment. Our Chair is responsible for ensuring that the board operates effectively and oversees a clear strategic direction for the charity, providing ambassadorial leadership as needed and constructive, supportive partnership with our CEO, Alex Farrow and our Senior Leadership Team. But critically, they will be a calm voice and fierce advocate as we navigate this rapidly shifting landscape. 

We’re looking for someone familiar navigating complex human rights systems with the ability to foster high performing governance that enables our team to build connections and to recalibrate for best impact. The successful person will have prior Chair or non-executive experience, or at a minimum sustained Director-level board exposure. They will be an enabling, facilitative leader able to foster robust debate and decision-making, they will be comfortable advocating for the rights of LGBTI+ people and supporting our charity to remain financially sustainable and adaptive to evolving risk.

It’s important to us that as a Board, we represent the people that we are working to support. We know that diverse boards are the most effective, they can think creatively and hold each other to account, therefore we are particularly looking for applications from trans people, women, People of the Global Majority, people without a degree, working class people and people of faith.

This is a voluntary, hybrid position requiring attendance at several board meetings per year at Kaleidoscope’s London offices, several online sub-committee meetings, with wider remote advisory support totalling 10-15 days per year. Housing Rights Support Volunteer Merseyside

Information about the role

You’ll be supporting our Housing Rights Workers to help people who are currently experiencing the housing emergency. This is a varied role, with tasks including gathering information from clients, keeping clients updated on their cases, completing research, data entry and other admin tasks. 

Location: Holy Trinity Church, Richmond Park, Liverpool, Merseyside

Suggested contribution: One day per week (can be flexible around your commitments).

Availability: Volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

Can you help the Bristol Oxfam Online Shop raise money to support and empower some of the world’s most vulnerable communities?

We are looking for people with an eye for detail to help us research, prepare, photograph, describe and dispatch our homewares on Oxfam’s bespoke online shop. Our specialist online shop sells an eclectic range of clothing, accessories, books, music, film and homewares, sourced from our generous donors at Oxfam shops across the area.

We have had some very interesting homewares donations over the years, from antique postal scales to vintage bears and Wedgwood tea sets. If you know your homewares and can help us identify, price, list and photograph our stock your help will be invaluable! You will receive full training and support from our friendly and knowledgeable team.

What you can do at the shop:

We believe in empowering our volunteers so, depending on your interests and what you would like to get out of the role, you can get involved with any of the following aspects of running the online shop (and more!):

· Researching rare and valuable stock

· Selection, preparation and presentation of stock

· Photography and editing

· Creating accurate and engaging online listings

· Creating engaging content for the shop's social media platforms

· Packaging and dispatching items

Quilombo UK is looking to recruit a Legal Assistant who helps organization in various legal matters.

The role provides you flexibility and autonomy at work. Where necessary specific training will also be provided to help you develop and grow your skill set.

Main Responsibilities

• We are looking for an experienced lawyer to assist the organisation in overlooking projects, ensuring they are compliant with relevant and up to date legislation and regulations.

• The legal assistant will be responsible for making sure all contracts, legislations and documents are treated within correct legal standards. They are to make sure that all activities are being performed in line with contracts and the law. 

• The Legal Assistant will work closely with the HR department in overlooking the volunteer forms, legislations and documents. They should also assist the different departments within the organisation(Marketing, Funding, HR, Finance) in upholding the legal requirements needed to run the tasks that they do. 

• Provide written reports as and when required. To undertake additional duties as required for the role.

General tasks

Role Overview

As a Production Assistant, you will support the Video Production Manager and team in all stages of video production, focusing primarily on the pre and production phase. Your role will be crucial in ensuring that our video projects are well-planned and executed smoothly. You will be involved in tasks ranging from script writing to stage setting, ensuring that all necessary preparations are in place for successful video production.
 

Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Video Production Manager to develop and refine scripts for various video projects, conducting research to gather relevant information and insights to inform script content and invite guests when necessary.

• Assist in planning and setting up stages for video shoots, including arranging props, lighting, and other necessary equipment, and coordinate with the production team to ensure all stage elements are in place.

• Work with the Video Production Manager to create detailed production schedules and timelines, and coordinate with cast, crew, and other stakeholders to ensure everyone is informed of shoot dates and times.

• Assist in identifying and securing suitable locations for video shoots, conducting site visits to assess the suitability of locations and addressing any logistical considerations.

• Organize and manage all production materials and resources, including scripts, shot lists, and production notes, ensuring all necessary permits and permissions are obtained for filming locations.

• Act as a point of contact between the pre/production team and other departments, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration, and provide regular updates to the Video Production Manager on the progress of pr/production tasks.

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK and QMC Capoeira School runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

About the position

The IT support role is vital to the organisation, as they will have the responsibility for the maintenance of the technical appliances used in the organisation. The IT support will not be required to come in on a weekly basis, but upon request as for when it is needed. The main tasks for the IT support will be reassuring all technical appliances are updates, responding to potential breakdowns and assuring electrical safety. Technical skills are required, in addition to flexibility, as they would need to quickly respond to potential breakdowns etc.

Our comprehensive Education, Training and Employment (ETE) programme runs various activities to improve our beneficiaries' social and cultural integration in the UK. These activities include 12-week English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses for adults and online conversation classes. 

We also deliver one-to-one employment support, mentoring, vocational training, and workshops on a range of topics to support the Latin American community in navigating the UK system. Additionally, our volunteer scheme provides volunteers with valuable work experience to enter London’s competitive job market. As well as being integral to the smooth running of our organisation, the scheme helps volunteers to develop their skills by working in a multicultural, collaborative and inspiring environment.

About the role

We are looking for a motivated ESOL Teaching Assistant to support the smooth delivery of our ESOL classes at Pre-Entry and Entry 1 levels for Latin American migrants and refugees. You will assist the ESOL Teacher with classroom delivery following our pre-prepared syllabus and teaching materials, along with a variety of audio-visual aids to improve learners’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in English.

As an ESOL Teaching Assistant, you will encourage learners to communicate using the structures and vocabulary they have learnt, with a strong emphasis on dialogue and role-playing, alongside more formal exercises and language games.

We are seeking a volunteer holding either a formal teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, CertESOL or similar) or prior experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Support with the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality ESOL lessons in a community setting

• Mark and provide appropriate feedback on oral and written work

• Guide the class according to the syllabus and learning outcomes as instructed

• Ensure learners participation during class and monitor attendance

• Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, identify gaps and adapt activities to learners’ needs

• Provide one-to-one learner support in class as required, to ensure needs relating to learning difficulties and disabilities are met

• Prepare and set exercises, materials and examination papers as necessary

• Undertake administrative tasks, such as keeping student registers and attendance records

• Provide logistical support with arranging the room, setting out refreshments and class tidy upContribute towards outcome and impact measurement for learners at the end of each term

We are looking for

• A recognised ESOL qualification, such as those listed on the TESOL website, is essential (e.g. TEFL or CELTA) or equivalent experience

• Verbal and written communication skills in English and either Spanish and/or Portuguese

• A flexible and enthusiastic person who is confident working in a multicultural and multilingual environment

• An empathetic approach to working with beneficiaries whose needs may vary or change over time

• Ability to work resourcefully and in collaboration with others
