About the volunteer role

Head of Programmes & Events (Volunteer Role)

The Lysene Foundation is a start‑up charitable organisation inspired by the micronation known as the Principality of Lys — a creative community rooted in the classical arts, architecture, and beauty of the French Renaissance, Baroque, Beaux‑Arts, and the age of Humanism and Enlightenment.

We believe in a new Renaissance for Europe and the wider world. Our mission is to bring the cultural and community spirit of Lys to life through accessible public programmes, including community events, educational initiatives, exhibitions, publications, artistic opportunities, and more.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a creative, organised, and visionary Head of Programmes & Events to design and lead the foundation’s cultural and educational activities. This is a senior volunteer role ideal for someone who enjoys shaping meaningful public experiences, curating cultural content, and bringing ideas to life through events and programmes.

You will develop our programme strategy, design a diverse calendar of events and initiatives, and oversee their delivery with the support of volunteers and partner organisations. As we grow, you will build and lead a dedicated programmes and events team.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the cultural output of a new foundation from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the foundation’s global programmes and events strategy.

• Design a varied programme of cultural, educational, and community activities aligned with our mission.

• Oversee planning, coordination, and delivery of events, workshops, exhibitions, talks, and public initiatives.

• Collaborate with artists, educators, cultural partners, and internal teams to create high‑quality programming.

• Establish processes, templates, and best‑practice frameworks for programme delivery.

• Manage programme timelines, budgets (where applicable), and volunteer involvement.

• Evaluate programme impact and continuously refine offerings.

• Build and lead a programmes and events team as the foundation grows.

• Work closely with senior leadership to ensure programmes support organisational goals.

• Ensure all activities reflect the aesthetic and cultural values of the Principality of Lys.

Position Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career development professional to build hands-on experience in community fundraising and operational support. Based in the coastal town of Fort Dauphin, the Junior Fundraising and Operational Support Officer will play a key role in strengthening SEED’s community fundraising and supporting crowdfunding campaigns.

A core part of the role will be providing exceptional care to SEED’s community fundraisers, incoming staff and volunteers ensuring timely and professional communication. The postholder will lead volunteer and staff onboarding, supporting smooth and well-prepared arrivals in country, enhance communications and digital content, and assist with operational systems that underpin SEED’s work. 

The role will build strong relationships with schools, workplaces, running clubs, and community organisations in donor countries, supporting them to raise vital funds and awareness for SEED’s work. This will include identifying and researching new fundraising opportunities, stewarding community fundraising activities (such as bake sales and seasonal campaigns), and supporting fundraisers and volunteers to use third-party platforms effectively. 

Working within a collaborative national and international team, this is an office-based role with occasional field visits with opportunities to gain experience across fundraising, operations, and the realities of working in international development practice in a dynamic, cross-cultural environment. 

Title: Junior Fundraising and Operational Support Officer

Location: Fort Dauphin, Madagascar

Commitment: 12 months; Monday to Friday (35 hours a week)

Salary: Voluntary position, with local monthly stipend towards accommodation and a contribution of £650 towards insurance

The Befriender 'In Home' Volunteer will play an important role by providing companionship to someone we support at our supported living service by spending time with them, visiting them in the home and doing activities they enjoy. These might include chatting over a cup of tea, reading books, playing board games, etc.

Carers Trust Solihull is looking for a First Point of Contact Admin Volunteer who enjoys helping people and keeping things organised. You will welcome new carers, handle enquiries, and make sure every person who joins our service gets a smooth and supportive start.

What you will do
• Record new carer registrations using our simple database.
• Prepare and post welcome packs, including carer ID cards.
• Complete the short 5-question contingency plan with each new carer.
• Answer incoming calls and direct them to the right team.
• Respond to enquiries in a calm and professional way.
• Log actions and update records so carers receive accurate support.
• Signpost carers to Solihull Council services when needed.
• Follow confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection procedures.

• Four to five hours a week, on a day that suits you.
• A steady, organised approach.
• Confidence speaking with people.
