It Gets Better UK is at an exciting moment. Over the past six years, we've grown from a grassroots initiative into a charity reaching millions of LGBTQ+ young people across the UK. Through digital storytelling, educational resources, and community engagement, we're combating isolation and discrimination – ensuring every young person knows their power and worthiness as individuals.
Now we're looking for our next Chair of Trustees to lead us into our next chapter.

Young people tell us our content helped them through their darkest moments – some say we're the reason they're still alive. You'll work with a passionate board and our CEO/Founder Dr Alex Rhys OBE, whose vision, resilience and commitment to the mission has been extraordinary. We need someone who can balance big vision with practical governance, understand charity finance and risk, and chair meetings that drive real decisions while creating space for genuine discussion.

About us
The Work Rights Centre (WoRC) is a frontline charity dedicated to ending precarious work and social exclusion. Since 2016, we have supported thousands of migrants and disadvantaged Britons to recover unpaid wages, fight workplace discrimination, and secure their immigration status. We don’t just handle individual cases; we use our frontline evidence to advocate for systemic change through research and policy engagement. In 2025 alone, we recovered over £170k for exploited workers and supported hundreds in understanding and securing their status in the UK.
What time commitment is expected?
The Board of Trustees meets four times a year. The meetings are held online, typically lasting 90 min. Our annual Vision Day is held in person, with some sessions that Trustees can join remotely. It is a precious opportunity for trustees to join all staff in reviewing key achievements, reflect on the year ahead, and begin formulating strategic objectives. Once a quarter before every main board meeting, a small Resource Committee (including theTreasurer and Deputy CEO) meets to review the charity’s financial position and fundraising targets.
About You
We are looking for a qualified finance professional with:

Charity Finance Experience: A solid understanding of charity SORP, restricted/unrestricted funding, and voluntary sector governance.

We are seeking an individual with extensive experience leading major programmes of IT and digital change, linked to infrastructure planning, capital development, and investment to support organisational growth. This role requires the ability to bring strategic insight into how technology and digital initiatives can transform operations, enhance student and staff (customer) experience, and deliver long-term institutional impact.
Independent Governor – Higher Education Policy & Regulation
We are seeking a candidate with significant experience in higher education policy, regulation, or governance, gained either through work in government, advising government, or supporting the sector through professional and membership organisations.
Candidates could also come from think tanks or policy organisations with expertise in shaping higher education strategy, regulation, and compliance. This role requires an understanding of the wider higher education landscape and the ability to contribute insight into regulatory, policy, and sector developments that affect the University’s strategic objectives.

Carers Support is looking for a new Chair of Trustees to lead our Board and support the next stage of our development. This is an important voluntary role for someone with strong board or senior governance experience who wants to make a real difference to unpaid carers.
About Carers Support
We are an independent charity supporting thousands of unpaid carers of all ages across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We provide advice, information, practical help, emotional support, training, young carers services and more.
About the role
As Chair of Trustees, you will:
- Lead the Board and help set the charity’s strategic direction
- Support and work closely with the Chief Executive
- Make sure the Board fulfils its legal and governance duties
- Encourage a positive, open and inclusive Board culture
- Ensure meetings are well-run and support good discussion and decision-making
- Help the charity respond to the needs and views of unpaid carers
- Ensure risks, finances and performance are monitored effectively

Time commitment
- 4 board meetings per year (2 hours each)

- Identify and explore new, sustainable income streams such as consultancy opportunities, training, corporate partnerships, etc.
- Develop a strategy to grow and diversify income.This will provide financial insight to support EiT’s strategic and budget planning.This will include identifying budgeting for restricted and unrestricted funding.
- Attend relevant networking events and represent EiT at conferences, webinars, trade shows etc with the aim of cultivating financial opportunities.
- Work closely with the Co-Directors and Trustees to align fundraising and business development with EiT’s strategic goals.
Person Specification
Essential
· Relevant Business experience and Donor Development
· Commitment to Equality in Tourism’s mission and values
- Proven track record in fundraising and donor development, with success across income streams, for instance:Trusts/foundations, Corporates, HNWIs, institutional/EU funding.
- Excellent relationship-building and networking abilities, ideally with existing donor or business contacts.
- Business development skills, with experience linking fundraising to long-term financial sustainability.
- Ability to think strategically and translate ideas into action.
- Strong written communication skills.
Desirable
· Trustee experience in a previous role
· Experience in gender equality, women’s rights, international development, or sustainable tourism.
- Financial literacy, including experience with budgets, restricted/unrestricted funding, and financial planning.
- Experience of innovative or entrepreneurial approaches to income generation.

The Hazards Forum is at a pivotal point in its 35-year history. Long respected as a convenor of expert debate on safety and risk, we are now implementing our Strategy to 2030. In addition to hosting discussions, we aim to actively influence national policy and societal outcomes that make people safer.
To deliver this ambition, we are refreshing our Trustee Board and seeking a Public Affairs Trustee to strengthen our political engagement and policy influence.
We operate a “player-coach” model. With no full-time staff, Trustees provide both governance and hands-on leadership, working closely with a small team of contractors and high-calibre volunteers to turn strategy into action.

The Role: Trustee for Public Affairs
Influencing national policy is a core pillar of our Strategy to 2030. While we have strong technical expertise, we are seeking to strengthen our capability in political engagement to ensure our voice is heard consistently and effectively across Whitehall and Westminster.
You will help guide our public affairs approach, supporting constructive, neutral engagement with policymakers and regulators.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support high-level engagement with Civil Servants, MPs, and Select Committees
• Advise on translating complex technical issues into clear, persuasive policy briefings
• Act as a guardian of political neutrality and organisational independence
The Ideal Candidate:
• Professional background in public affairs, government relations, or policy advocacy
• Experience drafting consultation responses and navigating parliamentary processes
• Established contacts within relevant government or regulatory bodies
• Charity sector or trustee experience desirable but not essential
Practicalities
Time Commitment:
• 4 Board meetings per year (hybrid, usually London)
• 1 annual in-person strategy day
• Around 1–2 days per month supporting strategic delivery

• Three-year term, renewable once (maximum six years)

Age UK Hertfordshire (AUKH) is a large charity that every year reaches thousands of older people and their carers, and has a high level of recognition across the County’s statutory authorities, voluntary sector and the public. Our services – some developed and delivered in productive partnerships – include “active ageing” day clubs, help in the home, dementia support, befriending and in-touch telephone support, nutrition and dietetics service, hospital and community “navigation”, information and advice.
To build and grow from our current strong position, we need to expand our Trustee Board - to complement the skills of our present Trustees and broaden our Board’s diversity.
We welcome applications from all age groups and backgrounds, and we are particularly looking for legal skills.
In addition, the following areas of expertise are also welcome:
- fundraising and income generation;
- financial management;
- communications and social media;
- building local stakeholder relationships;
Board and/or senior experience would be a valuable bonus.
Time commitment is one day per month during working hours.
