We are looking for volunteers to assist our Shop Managers in our brand new shop in Hemel Hempstead

Key Volunteer Activities:

• Assisting with the donations of stock, by sorting and steaming and preparing for shop floor
• Maintaining good stock rotation and levels at all times
• Helping with visual merchandising when needed
• Greeting customers in a friendly and approachable manner
• Understanding the Charities key standards and Values
• Becoming familiar with our Health and Safety Policies and being able to convey these to other volunteers
• Assisting the Shop Manager on daily tasks such as banking and stock takes, recycling and shop rotas
• Maintaining a clean and tidy work place which encourages a happy environment to work in
• Commitment to being part of a regular rota
• Giving any other assistance in relation to the smooth running of the shop as may requested by the Shop Manager
• We also have some specialist retail volunteering roles in our shops and warehouse e.g. helping with e-commerce
• Our shifts are 4 hours but we have a flexible approach so can work around the hours available to you. Regular sign-up to the rota is appreciated. However, ideally we would like you be able to cover 2 or 3 shifts a week

The Retail Distribution Centre (RDC) is where donations are stored, sorted, cleaned and distributed to the shops. Our volunteers help with household items ranging from crockery, toys, small electrical items, pictures, as well as clothes, shoes and bags. You will become part of the team that will sort, prepare, and recycle donations for resale.

Job Role:

The Social Supermarket Initiative (SSI) is a community-led social enterprise tackling food insecurity and promoting sustainable community growth through our affordable supermarket model, outreach programmes, and ethical partnerships. We are seeking Supporting Directors to join our Board, contributing strategic insight, expertise, and oversight to strengthen SSI’s governance, operations, and long-term impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic guidance and oversight to ensure SSI delivers on its community mission and legal obligations.
• Support the Board in policy-setting, financial accountability, and risk management.
• Contribute specialist expertise (e.g. governance, finance, partnerships, community development, food systems).
• Champion SSI’s values and act as an ambassador, building relationships with partners, funders, and local organisations.
• Monitor progress against strategic goals and ensure decisions align with SSI’s community purpose.

• Ensure SSI acts within its powers and upholds its community interest objectives.
• Exercise reasonable care, skill, and diligence in all Board matters.
• Safeguard SSI’s financial integrity, sustainability, and compliance with relevant regulations.

What you will be doing

• Overseeing an appropriate programme of awareness raising activities so that potential beneficiaries, volunteers and supporters are aware of SSAFA as first in mind for support.
• Building relationships with the regional and national SSAFA team, local voluntary organisations and, if applicable, SSAFA serving community teams, local military establishments, etc.
• Attending events as a key SSAFA representative.
• Providing timely reports and information to SSAFA’s central office
• Overseeing a programme of meetings including an AGM, branch meetings, committee meetings, training etc.
• Working with other volunteers, regional and national team members to attract and recruit new volunteers as required.
• Work closely with the community engagement co-ordinator to recruit, welcome, induct, support, and manage volunteers in line with SSAFA policies, such as the Volunteering Policy, Volunteer Code of Conduct, Data Protection Policy, and Safeguarding Policy.

The Uplift Project is a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing emotional distress and financial hardship. We deliver peer-led mental health support, wellbeing workshops, and emergency aid to communities across the UK.

About the Project

Uplift Circles – Local Emotional Resilience Hubs is a 12-month in-house wellbeing initiative that delivers weekly, non-clinical support sessions across Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. The programme creates safe spaces for community members to share, connect, and build resilience through guided group discussions, one-to-one emotional check-ins, and resource sharing.

Role Overview

We are looking for compassionate and committed Charity Outreach Workers to support the delivery of Uplift Circles. You will help facilitate wellbeing sessions, support participants emotionally, and contribute to the smooth running of the programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Support weekly peer-led wellbeing sessions in local community venues

• Offer one-to-one emotional check-ins and signposting support

• Help distribute self-care and wellbeing resources

• Assist with session set-up, attendance tracking, and reporting

• Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection standards

Ideal Candidate Will Have

• A caring, non-judgmental attitude and strong interpersonal skills

• A genuine interest in mental wellbeing and community support

• Good spoken English and ability to listen with empathy

• Previous experience (formal or informal) supporting people is a plus

Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported. Activities include:

· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection

You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers. You will be supported and guided from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

We're looking for someone with the following:

· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly

Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

What You’ll Do

As our Employability Programme Manager, you will:

• Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of our employability workshops and 1:1 support

• Support volunteers delivering CV sessions, interview prep, job search guidance, and workplace skills

• Ensure all employability activities reflect our trauma‑informed, person‑centred values

• Develop session plans, resources, and simple tools to support consistent, high‑quality delivery

• Work closely with the Volunteer Programme Manager and Head of Service Delivery to schedule sessions and match volunteers to roles

• Build relationships with participants, helping them feel welcomed, supported, and motivated

• Track attendance, progress, and outcomes to support our monitoring and evaluation

• Gather feedback from volunteers and participants to continuously improve the programme

Charity Champion (volunteer) 

As a Volunteer Charity Champion, you will have the opportunity to support the North West Ambulance Charity team achieve their mission in a variety of different ways to suit you. The NWAS charity are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and passionate volunteers wanting to work flexibly and help contribute to the growth of the charity. You will play a key part in a variety of tasks that may include supporting fundraising events, awareness days, collections and community engagement.

Why we want you

The North West Ambulance Charity provides support to the North West Ambulance Service above and beyond what NHS funding can provide. The NWAS Charity is solely reliant upon generous donations and fundraising from the public, businesses, grant funders, staff and volunteers to fund life-saving equipment and other projects to benefit the health, wellbeing and safety of patients, staff, and our communities.

We won’t ask you to do anything you’re uncomfortable with. You may only wish to be involved in volunteering at charity events for example, but you might not be comfortable with bucket collecting. As a Charity Champion you will have the opportunity to choose the area of support you prefer.

• Supporting the Charity with its fundraising and engagement events for example at bucket collections, cheering on runners in challenge events or helping on a stall at a summer fair.
