About BABCP: The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) is a charity and the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in the UK and Ireland. We are a membership body with around 27,000 members and as a professional organisation we promote, improve and uphold standards of CBT practice, supervision and training. Our CBT Register is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. We were founded over fifty years ago, and have experienced significant growth in recent years, moving from a highly regarded special interest group to a professional association. What we are looking for?: We are looking for one new lay person to join our Board as ‘Lay Trustee Director’, meaning you will be both a trustee of the charity and a director of the company. Our Board is made up of ten Trustee Directors who are elected from within BABCP’s membership and up to three Lay Trustee Directors. We are looking for a Lay Trustee Director with a proven track record of excellence in their field, who can bring fresh perspectives and experience from other professional sectors and walks of life.

You should:

· Be able to take important decisions using sound, objective reasoning and with good attention to detail.

· Be willing to ask questions and constructively challenge the status quo.

· Be able to think creatively and strategically, while being committed to operating with integrity.

· Have the capacity to devote time and effort to the role.

· Understand the responsibilities of the position.

· Not be barred from acting as charity trustee or company director (further eligibility declarations and checks will be required if appointed).

What will you be doing?: As a Trustee Director you will, as part of the wider Board, oversee the organisational structures, systems, policies and resources in place to achieve the charitable objects of the Association. You will help ensure that BABCP exclusively pursues its stated purpose against a defined strategy and in compliance with its governing document and relevant legislation and regulation. You will attend our Board meetings, reviewing all Board papers in advance. You may also be asked to participate in additional committees or working groups focused on specific themes areas, taking into account your areas of expertise and interest where possible.

The role is voluntary and unpaid, though travel and approved out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.

How you will you make a difference?: There are very few in the UK and Ireland who are not affected by the consequences of mental health difficulties. By volunteering your expertise and experience with BABCP, you will ultimately be helping to improve the mental wellbeing of those nations and to protect the public who are directly or indirectly impacted by mental health issues.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a distinctive and values-driven organisation. We are seeking a new Treasurer to join the Board of Trustees and play a crucial role in supporting the organisation’s sustainable future. While prior knowledge of brain injury is not required, the Treasurer is expected to demonstrate an interest in  brain injury, as well as in the Headway community, and to share the organisation’s mission and values.

The Treasurer will lead on the financial strategy, work closely with the Director of Finance, ensuring that financial insight informs the Board’s strategic thinking. This will include thorough pre-review of financial reports ahead of each Board meeting, chairing Finance & Audit Committee meetings, and presenting financial reports to the Board and at the AGM.

This volunteer role supports the smooth running of the Tuesday Breakfast Club, creating a warm, welcoming and safe space for people accessing the service. As a Breakfast Club Volunteer, you help set up the space, greet attendees, support light activities and conversation, and contribute to a positive community atmosphere. You play an important part in helping service users build routine, confidence and connection as part of their recovery journey.

Tasks may include:

• Prepare the breakfast area in line with Food Hygiene regulations (training can be provided) and service guidance.
• Set up equipment, supplies and the environment to ensure the session starts smoothly and clearing up at the end of the session
• Welcome all guests warmly, helping to create a relaxed and inclusive space.
• Keep an accurate register of attendees, ensuring food allergies and dietary needs are recorded appropriately.
• Prepare and serve hot drinks and toast, ensuring hygiene and safety throughout.
• Introduce new customers to the Breakfast Club and explain what they can expect from the session.
• Support introductions among service users to help build confidence and social connection.
• Encourage the use of weekly planners or similar tools to support routine-building and recovery goals.
• Help facilitate informal group conversations and light activities, where appropriate.
• Liaise with the staff member on duty regarding any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns.
• Assist with clearing and cleaning the space at the end of the session.

Role Impact

• Master's degree (MBA, MPA, MSc Finance, or equivalent) is strongly preferred.

Mental Health Program Officer

Role Summary

Obuyisi bw'Omu Initiative is seeking an experienced Remote Mental Health Program Officer to lead and strengthen our Kyogere ("Say It Out") Mental Health Program. This leadership volunteer role is ideal for a mental health professional who is passionate about advancing community mental health, reducing stigma, and supporting youth wellbeing in underserved communities.
Working remotely, you will provide strategic and technical leadership to our mental health programme, helping design impactful initiatives, guide awareness campaigns, strengthen partnerships, and support the development of community-based mental health interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Kyogere Mental Health Program.
• Provide technical guidance on mental health awareness, psychosocial support, and community engagement initiatives.
• Develop programme activities, educational resources, and awareness campaigns.
• Mentor and support volunteers involved in mental health activities.
• Build partnerships with mental health professionals and organisations.
• Monitor programme progress and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate virtually with the programmes team through online meetings and digital collaboration tools.

Requirements

• Professional background in Psychology, Psychiatry, Mental Health, Counselling, Social Work, Public Health, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience designing or managing mental health programmes or community mental health initiatives.
• Strong understanding of mental health promotion, stigma reduction, and psychosocial support.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.

The Crisis Recovery House supports people experiencing a mental health crisis, as an alternative to hospital admission, where appropriate. It also helps individuals discharged from hospital who need a brief period of intensive support.

As an Activities Volunteer, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and engaging environment for service users. You will co-facilitate group sessions, assist with planning and running activities and events, and support the smooth operation of day-to-day service activities.

This role is central to Waythrough’s recovery-focused approach and offers a chance to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Tasks may include:

• Co-facilitate group sessions with service users, ensuring they feel supported and included.
• Help plan and deliver activities such as creative workshops, gentle exercise, social outings, and educational sessions.
• Assist with organising and running events within the service.
• Meet and greet service users, helping them feel comfortable and informed.
• Provide practical support for general day-to-day activities within the service.
• Prepare materials and resources for sessions and events.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with service users in a welcoming and supportive manner.
• Ability to co-facilitate group sessions confidently and inclusively.
