Volunteer and join our Board of Trustees and help strengthen support, awareness and long-term sustainability for people affected by Chronic Granulomatous Disorder (CGD) and their families. Please note this oppurunity to volunteer as a trustee is open to UK residents only. 

A range of backgrounds

It is great if you have skills or experience which you think would beuseful to support our board, but this is by no means a requirement.We’re looking for people who are enthusiastic about us doing good work for the community and committed to helping us see this mission through.

We provide a full induction and training to everyone who joins as a trustee, and we also encourage interested parties to attend a boardmeeting before joining so you can see how we work.

Commitment from you

Being a trustee is an official duty as they have joint legal control of the charity and are ultimately responsibly for making sure it’s doing what it was set up to do. The CGD Society is also a registered company in England & Wales, so our trustees are also directors for the purposes of company law.We expect the following of all of our trustees, committing around one hour of time per week:

1.To attend our board meetings, which occur via video conference every two months. 2.To keep in touch via email, through an official email address that we will provide for you, at a minimum of once per week.

Our board meetings occur 6 times a year, usually on a weekday evening, and we provide an agenda with reading material two weeks in advance. We ask all participants to read this material and come prepared with comments and questions. Every input is welcomed, debates are encouraged, and all views matter.

We try to host one meeting per year - our Annual General Meetingor AGM - in-person at a central location, to provide an opportunity for our team to meet face-to-face. We cover all travel expenses for trustees to attend these in-person if they are able to.

We also encourage our trustees to engage with one of our subcommittees, which are smaller groups overseeing specific areas of our work, such as our nursing service or financial governance.This is optional, as we recognise that not all of our trustees can spare the time to participate.

Tell My Truth and Shame the Devil C.I.C is a pioneering podcast, YouTube channel, and healing membership organisation dedicated to creating a safe platform for survivors and whistleblowers to share lived experiences, expose systemic failures, and promote healing through culturally trauma-informed care.

Our organisation combines healing, education, advocacy, and empowerment through honest storytelling and community transformation. Job Purpose

The Volunteer Whistleblower Relations & Booking Officer will play a vital role in identifying, connecting with, and booking whistleblowers, former insiders, survivors, and experts linked to child abuse and institutional failures for podcast interviews and discussions.

The successful candidate will conduct research, outreach, relationship building, and guest coordination while professionally representing the organisation’s mission and values.

This role requires persistence, emotional intelligence, professionalism, confidence, resilience, and strong communication skills.

Join FARA, a charity with over 30 years of experience and 39 charity shops across London. Our FARA Kensington shop is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Book Volunteer to help our team in researching, valuing, and preparing donated books for sale.

By volunteering with us, you’ll directly support our mission, help promote reuse through donation and recycling, and contribute to a positive experience for our customers and online community.

The Role: 

As a volunteer, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

• Sorting, pricing and organising book donations
• Identifying valuable and collectable books
• Create attractive and engaging book displays
• Assisting with the placement of books on shelves
• Greeting and assisting customers with book enquiries
• Assisting with till operations when needed

The Volunteer: 

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for books and is perhaps in a book club
• Has good attention to detail
• Is friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic
• Is reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Previous experience working with books is a plus, but not essential

Your Time:

As a Grants and Funding Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting our work. You will:

• Identify and apply for funding opportunities through compelling proposals
• Craft engaging campaigns to attract donors and increase awareness
• Develop clear and impactful communication strategies to share our mission and successes with stakeholders, partners, and the public

You'll collaborate closely with the admin team, a small group of volunteers who work behind the scenes to enable our success with our project goals. You'll also liaise with our Project Director to align your work with the trust's aims and objectives.

This role is adaptable to your skills and interests. Whether your expertise lies in campaign writing, digital communications, or event-based fundraising, we’ll work with you to tailor the responsibilities and focus areas to make the most of your time and talents.
