Chair Duties

The Chair is expected to:

•  Lead and support the Board of Trustees
• Help us to continue in the direction set by our current Chair
• Represent Moneyfacts Research Foundation externally and help build strategic relationships
• Use their knowledge and experience to help the board reach sound decisions.
• Attend Board meetings 3-4 times a year, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions and scrutinise board papers.

Person Specification

We are looking for a leader with:

• Previous experience as a Chair of a charity or Senior Trustee
• Previous experience at board level in the finance sector
• Background in banking and finance with a strong network of contacts in the sector
• Knowledge and understanding of the role of the Bank of England in UK monetary policy
• Ability to lead creatively and strategically
• Ability to work collaboratively as a board member.
• Excellent communication skills
• A commitment to our charity objects.

Terms of Appointment

• This is an appointment for an initial period of two years.
• This has to be an unpaid voluntary position because it is a charity, but all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
• Attend Board meetings 3-4 times a year. Currently meetings are held in person in Norwich.

The Charity’s main activity is the publication of INTEREST, a journal which comes out every 6 weeks to coincide with Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee meetings.

We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to Elf us bring the magic of Christmas to life at our Santa's Grotto in Cardiff's Winter Wonderland.

Whether you're keen to step into Santa's boots or become one of Santa's helpful Elves, you'll play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming and memorable experience for the children and families who visit us.

By volunteering in the grotto, you'll be helping us raise vital funds and awareness to ensure no family in Wales lives their child's short life alone.

Job description

We are looking for one new member with an understanding of grant giving to join the sub-committee.

The role involves attending at least one online meeting per year and liaising as a committee via email and telephone to deal with applications throughout the year.

The role is not remunerated but expenses are reimbursed.

Service Amy’s Place is a partnership between the Amy Winehouse Foundation and Clarion Housing, providing supported living accommodation for young women aged 18-30 in recovery from drugs, alcohol and other addictive behaviours.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and compassionate volunteer with good interpersonal skills, preferably with some mental health awareness training and knowledge of addiction recovery, to teach women interested in enjoying the benefits of physical activity whilst improving their yoga skills.

Location Hackney

Commitment This is a flexible opportunity and volunteering times and frequency will vary depending on the volunteer’s availability and the needs of the residents. It might be every week or fortnight ideally for a minimum of 3 months.

DBS This role will require us to carry out an enhanced check through the disclosure and barring service.

Activities Deliver yoga classes for women interested in enjoying the mental health benefits of physical activity whilst improving their skills. Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small, friendly charity based in Southwark, providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Music Class Volunteer to support our weekly Tuesday sessions (10.30am-12.30pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm), held at St Faith’s Community Centre, Red Post Hill, SE24 9JQ (close to North Dulwich and Herne Hill stations). We do not require applicants to be able to volunteer in both sessions, but the option is there.

Are you comfortable speaking with people? Would you like to gather meaningful data for Shelter while you do so?

Information about the role

In this role, you’ll be phoning people who have previously contacted Shelter for advice. The purpose is to gather feedback from them on their experience with Shelter and how that has impacted upon their housing and general wellbeing. This helps us identify the impacts our service is having, and whether there is anything we should do differently.

Location: Shelter Hub, Norwich

Suggested contribution: One day per week (can be flexible around your commitments).

Availability: Volunteering will take place at a time that suits you, within Monday-Friday, 9am – 5pm

· Asking clients set questions to gather information on their experiences with Shelter and the difference it has made to them.

· Identifying key findings and/or trends and sharing with a relevant team member.

This role fights the housing emergency by identifying the impacts our advice services are having on clients, as well as whether there’s any changes we should make.
