Overview of Role

To support the successful running of the group by talking with the older members, helping them join in activities and helping with the provision of light refreshments.

Activity

The aim of social and activity groups is to help improve the quality of life older people who are socially isolated and may only get out to this activity. Volunteers helping in our social groups assist with providing group members with the support they need to join in the activity, including working one to one with an older person to help them enjoy the activity, serve refreshments, and help people with activities. For example some weeks you might help a member enjoy a craft activity, or participate in a board game.

The Netherton Feelgood Factory exists to support local people. We provide activities, services, and a welcoming space for residents of all ages and backgrounds — but none of that happens without a secure financial foundation. As a small charity, we can't rely on grants and donations alone. Sustainable income from venue hire gives us something equally precious: independence. The freedom to plan ahead, to protect the services people rely on, and to say yes to new ideas. As our Venue Hire & Income Generation Volunteer, you won't just be filling a diary. You'll be helping to future-proof a community asset.

Our organisation provides advice and services to all members of our local community from birth to old age.  We help over 5000 people each year with a variety of health-related or social needs.  Our centre is used as a base for counselling, food distribution, health programmes, children’s activities and social groups.  As funding sources have diminished the demand for our services has increased.  We are actively pursuing other ways to generate income.

We're looking for a volunteer with business, sales, or marketing experience to help us make the most of our fantastic building by hiring it out to local businesses, training providers, clubs, and organisations. Whether you've worked in sales, events, marketing, property, or business development — or simply have a talent for spotting an opportunity and making things happen — we'd love to hear from you.

You'll play a key role in identifying potential hirers, promoting our spaces, and helping us price and package our facilities competitively — all while ensuring the centre's core charitable activities remain protected.

• Identify and approach potential hirers, including local businesses, training providers, clubs, and community organisations
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan to promote the building for hire (e.g. flyers, social media, local business networks, online listings)
• Review and help set competitive, sustainable hire rates for different rooms/spaces and time slots
• Create or improve hire packages (e.g. half-day/full-day rates, regular booking discounts, room set-up options)
• Help develop simple hire agreements, terms and conditions, and invoicing processes (with support from staff/trustees)
• Build relationships with regular or repeat hirers to encourage long-term bookings
• Identify opportunities for new income streams connected to venue hire (e.g. catering add-ons, equipment hire)
• Report progress and income performance to the management team/trustees on a regular basis.

This is a genuinely rewarding role. You'll use your real-world skills to help generate vital income that goes straight back into funding the services our community depends on. You'll have the freedom to be creative — developing hire packages, building relationships with local businesses, and finding new ways to fill our spaces and boost our income.

You won't be doing it alone. Our friendly staff and trustee team will support you every step of the way, and you'll have the flexibility to volunteer in a way that suits your schedule.

Make a Difference with Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA)

Are you experienced in finance or accounting and looking for a rewarding way to give back to your local community?

At Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA), we are seeking a Volunteer  to join our charity and help support the important work we do for adults living with dementia, mental health conditions, and other long-term health needs across Essex.

This voluntary role requires approximately 2–3 hours per week and offers the opportunity to use your financial skills to make a real difference.

The Role

• Maintain oversight of the charity's financial records.

• Help keep our accounts up to date and well organised.

• Prepare and review profit and loss reports and other financial information.

• Work alongside the Charity Manager and Board of Trustees to support good financial governance.

• Provide financial guidance where appropriate.

About You

• Experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a similar financial role.

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Confident working with financial information.

• A commitment to supporting a local charity and its values.

A full handover will be provided by our outgoing Treasurer, ensuring you have the support needed to settle into the role.

As a Care Home Support Volunteer you will provide valuable support to the care home team by offering a flexible approach and completing or assisting with tasks as required.

There are so many things to help with, either with residents directly or supporting staff and we would like volunteers to be flexible but also to choose what they are comfortable with. Tasks could vary week to week and include supporting with activities, admin, serving meals and refreshments and more.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a current resident of the UK.
• Must have the legal right to volunteer in the UK.

Purpose

To deliver hot meals directly to the homes of client in Stamford and providing caring social interaction. Working in partnership with Second Helpings, Evergreen volunteers deliver to people who are housebound, socially isolated, or vulnerable and who would benefit from a nutritious meal and seeing a regular friendly face.

Key responsibilitie

Must have access to an insured, roadworthy vehicle, with current MOT / tax, along with a valid driver's licence

Co-drivers typically help deliver the food bags to recipient’s houses, assist with ‘map reading’ on the route, but don’t need to have a car or driver’s license as they are passengers.

Capable of delivering on a route

Engaging positively with members in a friendly, kind, compassionate and caring manner

Can follow all new health and safety meal delivery protocols.

Notify your car insurance company that you are doing volunteer deliveries.

Volunteers should keep clear records of journeys taken as volunteers, with the mileage, time/date and purpose of journey

Volunteer drivers should wear their Evergreen ID badge for volunteer drivers so that the people they are delivering to can clearly recognise it is an Evergreen volunteer.

Report any concerns to the Volunteer Services Manager or to the Delivery Service Lead Volunteer

Purpose of the Voluntary role:

The Purpose of this role is to provide an older Befriendee (a service user or member who needs social engagement, is lonely or bereaved) with an opportunity to develop a wholesome and mutually caring friendship with a willing partner (Befriender). The Trust believes that honest friendships are a positive way of establishing social value and support for those who may, for any number of reasons, find themselves isolated, alone, or lonely. Evergreen will endeavor to find a match with someone who has a shared interest with you.

Our volunteer Befrienders make a life changing difference to the older people we support.

Key Responsibilities:

Honest and accurate in all record keeping

Maintain appropriate boundaries and knowing the limits of the Befriending role

Raise any concerns with the Befriender Lead

Maintain confidentiality at all times unless given express permission to share information

Safe storage of Befriendee data.

Desirable Skills: Your own transport would be helpful but is not essential.

Training and support required:

Online Safeguarding training is compulsory.

Volunteer Advocate in East Sussex area - Are you passionate about advocacy and want to support others in their personal growth?  This role may be perfect for you!

South West Advocacy Network (SWAN) is a dedicated charity specialising in independent advocacy within the community. Our mission is to empower individuals by helping them express their needs, secure their rights, and access essential services while promoting social inclusion and justice.

We are seeking passionate Volunteers to join our team at SWAN in East Sussex. As a Volunteer, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals to develop essential self-advocacy skills and confidence. Your contributions will help ensure that individuals can voice their needs and receive the assistance they require.

SWAN appreciates that life experience can make you the ideal volunteer for a role such as this. We are keen to hear from people who have lived experience and would like to help empower others.

Do you have the following skills and experience:

• Experience working with people who are described as vulnerable, or who have additional support needs.
• Good communication suitable for a wide variety of people, some of whom may have learning disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health issues or have been assessed as lacking capacity.
• A commitment to the belief that everyone has a right to be heard, have choice and control, to be safe from harm and to live the life they choose.
• Can you commit to giving approximately 3-6 hours per week.

As a Macmillan Information & Advice Hub Volunteer, you’ll get a chance to meet new people and be part of an amazing team of Volunteers. It is really important to us that we provide the practical and emotional assistance required to our clients and that's why both Macmillan and ourselves will give you the support, supervision, volunteer insurance, and training required for the role.

The Hub is a drop in facility aimed at giving advice to local residents living with cancer, their friends and family or even fellow professionals. You will be providing face-to-face assistance which will include giving out high quality Macmillan advice resources or signposting to other service (all with the support of an employed Co-ordinator). You will also be providing emotional support by showing empathy, actively listening, and providing encouragement and reassurance. The Hub is based in Hastings Town Centre (the old Town Hall) and you could volunteer for as little as half a day.

We are currently looking for 1 volunteer for Friday mornings and 1 for Friday afternoons

We’d love you to be part of our Information & Advice Service. As an Information Volunteer Assistant, you could be :

• Welcoming and providing information to visitors

• Ordering leaflets from various sources

• Updating external contacts

• Undertaking general administration

• possibly dealing with straightforward signposting and information.

You’ll enjoy working within a team of volunteers and meeting new people, have great communication skills, are polite and emphatic, understand basic IT systems and updating manual records, and are able or willing to learn to use the internet and Microsoft Office 365.

We are currently looking for someone to volunteer for 3 hours, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays either am or pm.

We will reimburse your out-of-pocket volunteer expenses.

Our shops help raise lots of money for us. It’s always lovely chatting to our customers about the fabulous items we sell and telling them about the fantastic work that we do. As a volunteer you will get the chance to meet new people and make friends, plus be part of an amazing team of volunteers. There’s so much for you to get stuck into when volunteering in our shops. We get lots of donations so you will be rolling up your sleeves in the back room where you will be receiving, sorting, steaming and pricing donations, it's always exciting when one of our volunteers spots a real gem. On the shop floor, as well as welcoming and serving our customers with a smile, you will be using the till (don't worry, we will show you how) and handling money. When people come in to donate items you will also be completing the Gift Aid forms that let their donations help us even more. It’s really important that our window and shop displays look appealing so people keep visiting our shops, so you'll be wielding a duster and vacuum as well as your imagination to make the shop look its best. It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift a week, which is about four hours but we're also happy to have more flexible times. No special skills are needed as we will show you what to do and will provide all the training you need. But if you have any experience or particular interest tell us, it may come in useful.
