We’re looking for a Treasurer to provide financial leadership to our charity that supports the VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) sector in Wakefield District through high-impact contracts and grant making.

Nova is a charity that works with charities, community groups and social enterprises to help them thrive and continue their important work across the District. We do this by:

• Providing free specialist support on development and growth
• Ensuring the VCSE sector has a voice in decision-making
• Securing resources and funding for the VCSE sector

We have several opportunities open to join our Board of Trustees, including a Treasurer.

The Treasurer works closely with the Board, CEO, Finance Manager, and accountant to ensure our organisation’s finances are well-managed, transparent, and aligned with strategic goals. This involves:

• Guiding financial decisions
• Helping the Board understand and act on financial information
• Contributing to planning for the future, including budgets, reserves and exploring new incomes streams and enterprising approaches to strengthen Nova’s financial resilience

While previous experience as a Treasurer or Trustee is welcomed, it’s not essential. What matters most is commitment to Nova’s values, financial integrity, and supporting the VCSE sector.

All Family Support Volunteers undergo a comprehensive three half day training programme covering addiction, core counselling skills, the 5-Step Method, bereavement, safeguarding, and self-care. The Role

Although this is currently a volunteer position, Influential Stars is actively working to grow the platform with the long term aim of creating paid roles. While we are unable to provide a timeframe and future opportunities will depend on the organisation’s growth and incoming work, this role offers the chance to be part of that journey from an early stage.

Helping in our shops is a great way to help CHAS and, as well as helping us raise money to fund our vital services, you'll be part of a really great team of volunteers. You'll be meeting new people, using your skills or learning something new, and making sure our customers get a great welcome and all the assistance they need.

It's always great to see our volunteers chatting to customers and telling them about CHAS - and there's so much more to this role too: you could be sorting donations, getting stock ready for the shop floor, wielding a steamer or a duster, processing Gift Aid, operating the till (we will show you how), merchandising and displaying stock - you'll never have a dull moment.

It would be ideal if you could volunteer one shift each week, which is about four hours (but we're also happy to chat about more flexible times). Calling all animal lovers! We're looking for passionate volunteers to join Team Teckels at our charity shop in Stroud.

Teckels rescue, rehabilitate and rehome hundreds of vulnerable cats and dogs every year. Your support in our charity shop will make a massive impact on their lives, helping to raise valuable funds towards their care.

We have customer facing and non-customer facing roles available, so there is something to suit everyone. You could be welcoming customers, helping them with their purchases and putting sales through the till. Or helping out the back preparing donations ready for sale, merchandising, and making sure everything looks its best.

The Say Aphasia charity provides support groups across the UK for people with aphasia; a language and communication disability caused by a brain injury like a stroke. Aphasia affects over 350,000 people in the UK but is little understood or known about by the public. It is the only aphasia charity set up by people with aphasia for people with aphasia; helping them to adapt to their new way of life and regain their independence and confidence.

Aphasia occurs due to injury to the brain such as a stroke. It affects access to language, resulting in difficulties following conversations, speaking, reading and writing.

Volunteers will support the running of the group with communicating, and will have the opportunity to utilise their communication skills and IT knowledge to take a register of attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction and engagement.

Lead Women's Aid Luton as Chair of Trustees. Provide strategic leadership to a specialist charity supporting women and children affected by domestic abuse. Guide our next chapter at a pivotal time, shaping our future and strengthening our impact in the community.

What will you be doing?

The role of the Chair is to provide leadership and direction to the Board of Trustees, enabling the board to fulfil their responsibilities for the overall governance and strategic direction of the organisation. The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the Charity's mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that each trustee fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of the charity.

As Chair, you will help guide the organisation's strategic direction, support the Chief Executive and Board, and ensure Women's Aid in Luton remains resilient, sustainable, and true to its values. You will play a key role in shaping the charity's future and championing its work within the local community.

The Chair will work in partnership with the Board of Management, supporting them to achieve their vision for the organisation. You will establish and build a strong, effective and constructive working relationship with the Chief Executive, ensuring she is held to account for achieving agreed strategic objectives while supporting her and respecting the boundaries which exist between the two roles.

The Chair will act as an ambassador and the public face of the charity in partnership with the Chief Executive, representing the charity at external functions, meetings and events. You will help facilitate change and address any potential conflict with external stakeholders.

The programme creates safe spaces for community members to share, connect, and build resilience through guided group discussions, one-to-one emotional check-ins, and resource sharing.

Role Overview

We are looking for compassionate and committed Charity Outreach Workers to support the delivery of Uplift Circles. You will help facilitate wellbeing sessions, support participants emotionally, and contribute to the smooth running of the programme.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking a UK‑based volunteer with at least three years’ administrative experience, including confident use of Microsoft tools. 

You’ll be organised, detail‑focused and able to manage your own workload. 

You’ll support meetings, maintain online files, update documents, manage data and contact lists, and provide general admin support to the Board, Operations Director and volunteer HR team as needed.

Key responsibilities: Till volunteer

Being a till volunteer includes all the same responsibilities as a shop volunteer, however, when you’re ready, we’ll provide you with additional training to:

• Serve customers on the till in a warm and friendly way.
• Put sales through the till, packing them and thanking the customer for shopping with us.
• Talk to customers about Gift Aid and other fundraising initiatives.

About the role:

As a Shop Volunteer you’ll be joining a friendly, welcoming team of volunteers and staff who support each other and have a lot of fun along the way. We value every volunteer and the unique perspective, skills and energy you bring. 

Whether you’re sorting donations, creating beautiful displays, or chatting to customers, every task you take on helps to build a more inclusive world. 

We value volunteer development, and as part of this role your can develop your skills further by training to become a till user alongside your regular shop volunteer responsibilities, or progressing into a Key volunteer, a role which includes opening, running, and closing the shop in the absence of the manager.

No matter your reason for volunteering – whether it’s to meet new people, build new skills or support Sense’s cause – there’s a place for you in one of our shops. 

Due to the nature of the role, we require all applicants to be aged 16 or over. You must have a UK address to volunteer with Sense.
