We're looking for a minimum of 3 volunteers to fill the role of interim Trustee, who can support our brand new small charity make a big difference during our set up phase. We need volunteers who are passionate about our cause and who are dedicated to SUNSHINE and the role of Trustee for the next 8-12 months.

We're especially interested in filling the roles of Chair and Treasurer too, as well as the Trustee role.

You will work with fellow interim Trustees to;

• Lead and actively participate in quarterly Trustee Meetings held in East or Central London during an agreed evening between 7-9pm and actively take part in discussions and decisions that benefit SUNSHINE and in supporting those who live social isolation, helping us foster connections, enhance wellbeing and transform lives.
• Provide strategic guidance and direction to SUNSHINE, helping us plan for our first 3 years as a charity.
• Support in the registration of SUNSHINE with the Charity Commission.
• Support in the registeration of SUNSHINE with HMRC for Gift Aid.
• Lead on the creation of a Business Plan and a 3 year Strategy for SUNSHINE.
• Lead on and contribute to the development and implementation of organisational policies and procedures.
• Lead on fundraising activities that generate much needed income, including grant writing.
• Support and advise the CEO and SLT, ensuring a good working and professional relationship.
• Manage relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community members.
• Ensure that SUNSHINE has the much needed resources and support it needs to carry out its much needed community work.
• Other Trustee duties relevant for a new start-up charity.

Herts Disability Sports Foundation (HDSF) is looking to develop a New Income Generating Strategy which will ensure we can be a long term player in delivering physical activities for children and adults with physical and learning disabilities. We are seeking an experienced fundraiser who will work with us on this project to support HDSF, using their knowledge and experience in the charity sector.

HDSF is a relatively small charity working to support adults and children in Hertfordshire with physical and/or learning disabilities to participate in recreational sporting activities. Our mission is to “Provide and support opportunities in sports and physical activity that can be accessed by everyone, whether it be through participation, volunteering coaching or education in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.”

We work with a diverse range of partners including Day Services, special schools and community groups to provide a variety of sports/physical activities. These include online sessions, boxercise, water sports, holiday activities (which include siblings) and adapted cycling. Our team is small – just 10 people in a mix of full time and part time roles. What will you be doing?

Our goal is to diversify our income streams and become a more sustainable organisation. HDSF has a successful track record of grant funding and generating earned income from activities, since HDSF was created 10 years ago, but sourcing funding for core costs and new projects has become more difficult in the current climate. 

Using your knowledge and experience of Fundraising at a senior level, we would like you to;

• support HDSF to develop a diverse fundraising strategy,
• identify and prioritise potential types of income streams for short and long term development,
• work with the SMT to develop a Fundraising plan to realise new sources of income. 

We are particularly interested in direct fundraising and corporate partnerships.

Resources 

We will provide you with a range of organisational information and financial data on past performance. You will have time with the SMT, relevant Trustees and the Business Working Group. The key point of contact will be the Chief Operating Officer who will ensure you have access to resources needed to complete the project. 

Timeline 

We anticipate this project will take approximately 3 months but will work with the successful volunteer to agree project milestones and timescales. 

This could be an ongoing voluntary role if this first project is a success for both parties. 

What are we looking for? 

We are looking for a volunteer who is experienced in Charity Fundraising at a strategic level, with practical experience of at least one of the following areas; corporate partnerships, major gifts, individual giving and legacies. The volunteer would have knowledge of fundraising policies and legislation relevant to the UK charity sector. They would be skilled in communicating ideas and strategies, with a professional and ethical approach to their work. 

Lived experience of the disability community would be an advantage, but a real enthusiasm to contribute to the growth of HDSF is essential. 

What difference will you make? 

By securing new funding streams we could expand the range of activities we offer, reach more of our beneficiaries by providing more community based activities - we already have the ideas, we need your help to make them achievable!

The British Red Cross is a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation that helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We enable vulnerable people at home and overseas to prepare for and respond to emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, we help people recover and move on with their lives.

The Fundraising Events team is looking for an organised, enthusiastic volunteer to help support with multiple events happening this Autumn.

The successful candidate will support the events team in organising, marketing and potentially also attend one of 3 walking events raising money to support the work of the British Red Cross.

This will involve working with multiple teams and outside agencies involved in the event on anything from marketing to admin and data entry.

Placement Volunteers at the British Red Cross are highly valued for the skills and energy they bring. We aim to provide our placement volunteers with an insight into the daily workings of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation. The successful candidate will have access to relevant in-house training and development opportunities during their placement. There may be some ad hoc opportunities to get involved in other areas of activity.

Your role as a placement volunteer will help make a great contribution to the work of the British Red Cross. You will take responsibility for achieving specific objectives that are agreed with you within one of the various departments across the UK. You will have a real responsibility and place in the department, bringing some of your skills and experience to the role; you will also have the chance to develop workplace skills.

While we don’t offer voluntary internships, we are happy for you to describe yourself as an intern on your CV, if you feel that would be helpful.

Fundraising is what makes all of our work possible, and in person events are a wonderful opportunity to let the public know about the amazing things our teams do, why it matters and inspire people to feel involved with the Red Cross. To provide a positive, safe and inspiring experience on the day involves a lot of work, and we're looking for somebody passionate, enthusiastic and sociable to help us create a day to remember for every participant taking part.

Candidates should be computer literate and familiar with Microsite Office, moderate Excel and Word proficiency as a minimum, and have strong attention to detail. Experience communicating with a wide range of audiences, both conversationally and in writing, is an advantage as is a passion and interest in event organisation and logistics, or fundraising.

This placement will last a maximum of 12 weeks volunteering up to 3 days each week.  The volunteering hours are negotiable to balance your needs and what can be achieved in the role.   

The placement start date is 17 June 2024. This can be negotiated.

The successful candidate will be helping the team in the run up to several major in person events, and duties will include but are not limited to:

• communicating with participants
• managing inboxes and responding to queries
• helping pull and organise participant lists
• taking notes in meetings
• supporting with marketing plans
• updating databases

The British Red Cross is a large organisation, meaning also key are interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.

It is preferable, but not mandatory, for participants to also have some knowledge of digital marketing channels, some experience of fundraising, some experience as part of in person events or familiarity with data entry and database use.

Bursary Scheme: The British Red Cross offers a bursary scheme to those placement volunteers from low-income households. Eligibility will be determined through a separate application process open to all short-listed candidates. All British Red Cross volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket reasonable expenses.

For this scheme we are defining low-income households as:

• Inside London: Living with family or partner £25,000 or under. Living independently £22.500 or under
• Outside London: Living with family or partner £18,500 or under. Living independently £16,500 or under

Young People and this role: Our placement volunteer opportunities are open to people at different stages of their career, aged 15 or above. Whether you’re student, a recent graduate or someone with more experience looking for a career change, we would be happy to hear from you.

Anyone can volunteer with the Red Cross from the age of 15. An individual risk assessment, parental consent and safeguarding considerations will be required for those aged 15 – 17. The nature of the activities specific to your intern opportunity may mean that you need to be 18 years or older.

The Countryside Regeneration Trust is seeking new trustees to help to steer the charity forward at a very exciting time. Our plans for the next ten years will involve greater engagement with local communities around our larger farms in Cambridgeshire, Herefordshire, Dorset and south-east England. We are also stepping up agroecological approaches to land management, with nature at the heart of food production. This includes new activities to restore nature where opportunities exist to do so.

Helping to manage a national charity is not for the faint hearted. Trustees must make important decisions, be prepared to face challenges and be confident in overseeing the management of the organisation – its finances, staffing, policies and other work that is vital for delivering the charity’s objectives. As a national charity, the CRT is supported by a team of staff, contractors and tenant farmers who undertake the day-to-day work of the organisation. The Trustees provide essential oversight for them.

Terms of Appointment

• Attendance at least 75% of Board of Trustee meetings, in Central London or Cambridge, (plus online options). These meetings are normally held once per quarter.

• Trustees work collaboratively the CEO and senior leadership team, in working groups and committees. Typically, these committees will meet 4-6 times a year. These meetings are mostly online; new trustees will join two of these committees.

• Occasional further contribution to provide mentoring, advice, and guidance.

• Trustees are elected for a term of three years, which may be renewed for one further three-year term.

TEOM is looking for a director to join our small team, with special responsibility for looking after our finances.

The Expert On Myself (TEOM) is a Community Interest Company in Cambridgeshire, helping people speak and organisations listen. We create opportunities for people to educate professionals about the issues that affect them. Our expertise comes from lived experience.

About the role

We’re looking for someone to join our team of directors. You don’t have to have been a director before for this role.

All directors’ roles are unpaid but there are opportunities for paid work alongside this. 

The hours are very variable, and depend a lot on what you feel able to contribute. At the minimum, we have a director’s meeting at least once every two months (usually more often), and you must come to at least 4 director’s meetings a year. These are usually online, in the early evening.

You would also need to help us with our decisions by following a comms channel (at the moment we use WhatsApp) and contributing your ideas and responses.

The Community Fundraising Team is an integral part of The Charity Fundraising Portfolio and the team consists of Community Fundraisers based across the UK. Our role is to provide fundraising advice & support to our Supporter Groups, Community Organisations, Regional Corporates, Volunteers & Events.

How can you help?

We are recruiting a team of Charity Ambassadors to help develop engagement across each Region, to maximise opportunities to raise funds and increase support from the Community. You will be actively involved with The Charity on the ground and play a key role working alongside the Regional Community Fundraisers, as and when required:

· Identifying various opportunities in your local area to raise awareness of The Charity & our wide range of Fundraising Campaigns. This could anything from contacting your local supermarket’s ‘Community Champion’ and organising an information stand and bucket collection or supporting a Supporter Group meet up in your area.

· Representing The Charity in your area, by undertaking presentations & cheque collections at schools, local companies & community groups

· Helping us to recruit new fundraisers and supporting those who are already signed up for a campaign, in your area. For example, attending a local Twilight Walk or promoting The Big Bake to local companies.

What impact will you have?

By amplifying The Charity's voice in your local area, you'll help increase the impact of fundraising campaigns & help grow funds and support us in accelerating a cure for everyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.

We’re looking for people who are:

· Skilled at spotting new opportunities to raise awareness and funds

Time commitment

Initially, we envisage a minimum of 2 or 3 days per month, depending on the regional focus, and this will also be guided by whether you are researching new awareness raising opportunities in your area, or setting up a school presentation for example. Flexibility if a key part of the role as we are often presented with exciting opportunities to raise awareness or funds, at short notice.

Practical considerations

You will receive training from the Community Fundraising Team and ongoing direction from a Regional Community Fundraiser, who will be your key contact. We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18. We encourage volunteers to claim for any reasonable expenses that are incurred in the course of their volunteering with the Charity.

We are looking for a Social Media Specialist who can strategically identify, and post, engaging content for our social media feeds, which will inspire people to support our work with refugees and asylum seekers in Epirus.

In your role, you will interact with our Instagram and Facebook communities to increase engagement, followers and the quality of their experience. You will also identify key influencers and conversations where we can engage to better showcase our work and expand our reach. You are the person who thinks “this would make a good post” while activities are taking place. More than that, your interest and belief in social media as a force for good should be backed with an interest in data and analytics, using them to influence our social media communication strategy.

Skills Required:

• Strong written and spoken English skills

• Demonstrable ability to manage a Facebook, Twitter or Instagram feed in a professional capacity
• Ability to demonstrate your success at creating and delivering social media strategies for specific projects

Your responsibilities:

• Regularly post and schedule content on Second Tree’s social media feeds.
• Work with the wider Second Tree team to ensure that all content on our social media feeds aligns with organisational, and specific project strategies.
• Work with Second Tree team to moderate and respond to comments and interact with followers to best develop our online communities.
• Produce regular reports on social media performance.
• Use Google Analytics (or similar) to produce reports on referrals to the Second Tree website and conversions attributable to social content.
• Advise colleagues and help them to develop content strategies based on previous reports and insights
• Develop social media strategies to expand our reach and impact through social media channels
• Identify key social influencers who we can engage with
• Maintain a strong knowledge of developments, innovations, and new tech in social media and identify any that may be of benefit/interest to Second Tree

We have two volunteer houses that can host up to nine people where long-term volunteers are accommodated. Some volunteers choose to rent their own accommodation. In certain periods of the year, demand is extremely high, and the volunteer houses might be full. If you have the means to pay for your own accommodation, please let us know. We would still be happy to host you if space is available. However, in a situation where the volunteer houses are full, this would allow us to offer a volunteering opportunity to someone that cannot afford to pay rent.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to join us on the ground and immerse themselves in our work. Your participation could take on many forms, from support in the education programs to activities in the kindergarten to the delivery of workshops and expeditions with the Youth Scouts – we look forward to hearing your ideas on how best to apply your skills in this context. By coming here, you would gain a first-hand experience of the situation on the ground, working in a grassroots organization with a small but dedicated team. This immersion will give you a solid sense of our work, our mission and our approach – which would facilitate your ability to attract supporters.

Do you have experience writing grant applications from the National Lottery Community Fund (previously The Big Lottery Fund) Awards for All, Reaching Communities, Partnerships, #iwil Fund, The UK Fund, and the Climate Action Fund in the UK, Heritage Fund and Arts Council? You will be responsible for the overall administration and management support of the Lottery-funded projects and actively contribute to preparing new Lottery project proposals.

Duties and Responsibilities

Proposal Writing

• Mapping of the Lottery Funding
• Conducting research, analysis and documentation.
• Design the Lottery Fund and projects.
• Partnership recruitment for the Lottery funding applications.
• Writing the Lottery fund projects including budgeting, deliverables, and planning.
• Submission of the Lottery Fund project application forms.

Required Skills and Experience

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Lottery Fund policy and decisions about health, education, climate change, social issues, human rights, democracy, technology, environment, territorial cooperation etc.
• Responsibility, consistency, and adherence to strict deadlines.
• Proven track record in drafting, writing, and implementing Lottery-funded projects, for at least 2 years experience in writing lottery grant applications.
• Intercultural awareness and sensitivity.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise and work on own initiative.
• A drive to achieve quality in all aspects of the role

• Fluency in office software, email, web-based applications, and databases.
• Command of social media.

Seable Holidays organise holidays for blind and partially sighted people. Blind and partially sighted people are widely underrepresented and under serviced. They are often isolated and without the confidence to make new friends, try new activities or get out of their comfort zone. There are over 1 million visually impaired people in the UK only and there is a lack of a proper tailored offer in the holiday sector. Seable Holidays offer holidays that stimulate independency, self-esteem and reduce isolation for blind and partially sighted people. We are the only tour operator to offer "chaperone assistance" - a local professional friend that ensures the holiday is safe and enjoyable.

They have a range of tailored and group holidays to suit the needs of all visually impaired people. The tailored offers are for people less confident and requiring 1:1 assistance, couples wanting a romantic break or families in need of assistance to have a well deserved relaxing holiday. Their group holidays are for people that need to make new friends and want to socialise. All the activities are tailored and tested for and by visually impaired people, from skiing holidays to tasting sessions and sporting holidays

They involve visually impaired people in every step of the way, their office staff is visually impaired as well as 25% of the board of directors. Their social impact report from people that have travelled with us in 2023 have shown the following results: 100% increased their confidence, 45% Have reduced isolation and made new friends, 25% have started a new hobby (from an activity tried on a holiday), 5% have looked for a job.

• Volunteer 0-1 hours per week remotely for 6+ months ��
