Role Overview:

As the Volunteer, Head of HR and Volunteering, you will play a crucial role in leading all our HR and Volunteering functions at Unlock YOUR Potential. This is a remote position, with meetings done via telephone and online via Zoom or other platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership: To formulate and execute strategic plans related to HR and volunteering, aligning these functions with Unlock YOUR Potentials overall goals.
2. Policy Development: To create and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for HR practices and volunteer management.
3. Resource Allocation: To allocate resources (financial, personnel, and technology) to support HR and volunteering initiatives.
4. Stakeholder Engagement: To collaborate with senior management, trustees, and external partners to enhance HR and volunteering programmes.
5. Performance Metrics: Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of HR and volunteering efforts.
6. Leadership Team: To be a member and part of the organisation’s leadership team.

Role Description:

The HR Admin Assistant will be assisting in responding to volunteer applications, updating volunteer policies and documentation, induction of new volunteers and organising interviews. The volunteer should have organisational and communication skills, but further guidance will be given by other volunteers if needed. The HR assistant will be working closely with the Admin Assistants. The volunteer will have further possibilities to develop their skill sets through tasks given. This will further help you to develop your professional development programme (PDP).

The Professional Development Programme with Quilombo UK runs over a period of 16 weeks, is UNPAID and requires a minimum of 12 hours commitment per week across Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday.

Upon successful application, our HR team will contact you to arrange an interview. Following a successful interview, we'll initiate the onboarding process by sending you the necessary documents. Once your onboarding and identification documents are received and verified, you'll be invited to a 6-hour HR and System Induction. Subsequently, you'll meet with your Head of Department or Assistant Manager for your First Day.

Who we are.

Set up in 1994 by local people, BEA/OWLS is a community-based charity with a community interest company called UpBEAt, which runs Bramley Community Shop. In 2011, we set up Older Wiser Local Seniors (OWLS) to provide the Neighbourhood Network Service in Headingley, Burley, Hyde Park and parts of Kirkstall. We currently have around 1,500 members.

With a small staff team and 200 volunteers, we work with a range of partner organisations, both voluntary and statutory, to improve health, increase happiness, and reduce social isolation and loneliness in older people.

At a strategic level, we seek to influence local and city-wide policy development as active members of the community and Leeds’ third sector. We share good practices whilst at the same time learning from others.

Our strategic aims are to:

• Increase membership of the charity and the happiness of our members.
• Be more effective and efficient.

About the roles.

The Chair of the Board will manage Board meetings, support the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board of Trustees is well-inducted, managed and developed to be effective and efficient in its governance responsibilities.

Committee Chairs will bring their HR and Finance experience to strengthen the technical capability of our committees. As well as Chairing the Committee Meetings, Committee Chairs will lead the strategic development of key finance and people issues.

Other people who want to be Trustees, regardless of background, will help to maintain oversight of the financial health and sustainability of the organisation and ensure that our resources are managed in a way that achieves the charity’s objectives.

Who we are looking for.

First and foremost, we are looking for local people committed to helping older people live happy lives in our community. A willingness to invest the time and effort in delivering for local older people is important to us.

Specifically, we are looking for a Chair of the Board who is ambitious for the organisation, is comfortable building a good local profile and can develop influential relationships with partners and other stakeholders. The Chair will run the Board meetings, support and constructively challenge the Chief Executive and continue to drive Board Member engagement and effectiveness.

We are looking for Committee Chairs with specialist backgrounds in finance and HR to lead the Money Committee and People Committee.

Central England Law Centre provides specialist legal support to clients in Coventry and Birmingham. We use our legal expertise to improve the lives of those who are often vulnerable and socially excluded due to poverty, illness or disability.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for up to three Trustees to join our Board. We are seeking applications from individuals who represent a range of backgrounds, and especially those with an interest in how embedding a knowledge of rights within communities can help reduce inequalities and challenge unfair systems, ultimately empowering people to live better lives.

As a member of our Board, your purpose is to work with other Trustees to form an effective governing body which holds the Law Centre senior leadership team to account for its work, providing leadership for all activities and performance of the organisation.

Alongside your fellow Trustees, your responsibilities will consist of:

• Shaping and agreeing the strategic direction of the organisation
• Monitoring and evaluating performance with the objective of fulfilling the Law Centre’s vision, mission and aims
• Safeguarding the Law Centre’s reputation, vision and mission
• Ensuring that the Law Centre remains financially stable, and is managing its assets effectively in pursuance of its objectives
• Overseeing compliance with all relevant legislation including employment, company, charity and health and safety law
• Ensuring all work is conducted within the framework of the Law Centre’s Memorandum and Articles of Association
• Assuming legal responsibility for the Law Centre’s staff and volunteers

ROLE SUMMARY 

The Chief of Staff is a brand new position at Youth Mix and plays a crucial and key role in ensuring the smooth running of operational activities by being the liaison between the volunteers and the CEO on all operational matters.

The CEO is currently heavily involved with the operational staff and projects. The team is growing, and the work is expanding. Therefore, we are looking for a self-motivated volunteer who is an excellent communicator, is great with people, a good problem solver to support the CEO and be a crucial link and coordinator between the CEO and the rest of the operational team. 

This is a senior role and reports directly to the CEO. In this new exciting role, you will: 

• Act as a liaison between the staff and the CEO regarding the company’s project updates, processes as well as volunteers’ well-being; 

• Meet with the charity's senior team for business updates, supporting with challenges and escalating to CEO as appropriate; 

• Attendance at bi-monthly trustee meetings if required

• Assist, communicate and support volunteers and Young Leaders throughout the decision-making, program management and initiative implementation stages;

• Continuously improve the company’s ongoing processes and develop procedures to ensure compliance, optimal efficiency and productivity;

• Design, review and improve the organisation’s structure (as appropriate) and address or escalate to the CEO ongoing problems 

• Cover reasonable requests from the CEO 

• Build good relationships with volunteers and Young Leaders

• Work with the CEO on succession planning; and 

• Assist with reporting e.g. gathering multiple projects and progress reports and compiling them into one organisational reporting pack.

 Exam Star Learner is an educational charity. We are on a mission to address the lack of access to personalised learning support for underprivileged youth. We aim to deliver personalised and affordable tutorials in Maths, English, Science, and French to underachieving and disadvantaged children and young people. A growing number of parents and guardians are paying for children as young as four to receive additional tuition. Research show that unlike their well-off peers, many children from lower income families are unable to afford the cost of private tuition which averages £25 per hour in London. This exacerbates education inequalities and contributes to widening the attainment gap.

Unlike other tuition organisations, Exam Star Learner’s private tuition is genuinely affordable and personalised. Compassion, equality, and independence are among our core values.

We want to inspire our students and help them gain confidence and self-esteem so that they can maximise their potential and achieve greater success in school and in the workplace. We pair children and young people with tutors, and they learn in weekly personalised online tutorials which cater to their specific learning needs. We are currently in partnership with Southwark Council and the DofE.

About the opportunity

We are on the lookout for ten motivated Volunteer Recruitment Officers to join our team. This is an unpaid and voluntary role. In this shared role, each officer  will work closely together to develop and implement a comprehensive plan to recruit volunteer tutors. The goal is to recruit and retain a pool of at least 200 retired teachers who can dedicate 4 hours to one-on-one and small group tutoring in English, Maths, Science, and/or French for children and young people aged 5-18. These tutorials will be conducted both in person (in Southwark schools) and online. The professionals will be responsible for recruiting, training, supporting, and retaining volunteer tutors to help reduce the education gap and raise the aspirations of underprivileged children and young people.

Detailed Tasks:

1. Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Strategy Document (Candidates 1 & 2):

Candidate 1: Strategy Development

· Collaborate with the charity Director to write a robust volunteer tutor recruitment strategy document.

· Discuss and refine the strategy document with Candidate 2.

Candidate 2: Recruitment Process

· Execute the recruitment strategy developed by Candidate 1.

· Manage all stages of the recruitment process for volunteer tutors, including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding.

2. Training and Development (Candidates 3 & 4):

Candidate 3: Training Design

· Design a training programme for volunteer tutors.

· Collaborate with Candidate 4 to align the training programme with the recruitment strategy and volunteer management system.

Candidate 4: Training Delivery & Development

· Deliver the training programme designed by Candidate 3.

· Develop a system to track volunteer progress and collect feedback on the training programme.

3. Volunteer Management (Candidates 5 & 6):

Candidate 5: Volunteer Support

· Establish effective processes for volunteer management.

· Offer guidance and support to volunteer tutors, addressing any questions or issues that arise.

Candidate 6: Coordination & Updating Systems

· Track and record tutorial attendance and ensure that both students and volunteer tutors attend the sessions.

· Liaise with parents/guardians, school teachers and volunteer tutors as and when required to facilitate tutorials (i.e. provide support around rescheduling missed tutorials, tutorial scheduling issues, payment queries, refunds, lateness, re-sharing video conferencing links, sending reminders about tutorial sessions etc)

· Regularly review and update the volunteer management database to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

4. Retention Strategies, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Marketing (Candidates 7 & 8):

· Write a strategy document to encourage volunteers to remain engaged.

· Monitor the quality of tutorials by gathering feedback success stories from students, parents, and school teachers after each session.

· Establish methods to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the volunteer recruitment and retention strategies.

· Collect feedback and success stories from volunteer tutors to share on social media for marketing purposes.

5. Administrative Support and Tutorial Scheduling (Candidates 9 & 10):

Candidate 9: Administrative Support

·  Liaise with the team and rovide administrative support as and when necessary,  including advertising, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of volunteer tutors, coordinating tutorials and tracking tutorial attendance, record-keeping, scheduling, and documentation etc

Candidate 10: Manage Tutorial scheduling, Update and Manage Tutors and Students Records

· Update and Manage Tutors profiles on our website (ensure all available tutors are accurately listed)

· Update and Manage Students Records to help us monitor number of tutorials delivered.

· Provide information and guidance to parents/guardians and school teachers regarding  booking tutorials

(i.e handle communications and queries regarding scheduling tutorial sessions through our website, provide information and guidance around booking tutorials)

Volunteer Tutor Recruitment Timeline

The recruitment process for volunteer tutors will commence immediately upon the start of the shared role. The goal is to recruit a pool of at least 200 retired teachers within a timeframe of 6 months. However, the timeline may be subject to adjustments based on the availability and suitability of volunteer tutors.

Work Schedule

This is an unpaid and voluntary role. Each candidate should not work more than 20 hours per week, but there is flexibility to accommodate the needs and schedules of team members.

Qualifications

· Relevant experience in volunteer recruitment or a similar role.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.

· Experience in training and development is beneficial. Familiarity with the charity sector, particularly in education, is advantageous.

As an online “ At Home” Volunteer, you will be working with people from a wide variety of

The Position: We ask Volunteers to contribute a minimum of one hour a month. Within our

Human Resource Division you will be learning to process applicants from around the world,

We are running a rolling recruitment programme, but if you can get us your application by 17th May you will be in time for our first tranche of interviews with shortlisted candidates, w/c 27th May. Following a successful interview you will be invited to attend a Board meeting as an observer. This gives you a chance to get a proper feel for whether being on our Board is for you. If both parties are happy after that, then you can be appointed as one of our new Trustees.

- Keeping our safeguarding policy and procedures up to date and regularly reviewed

- Understanding and assisting with devising and improving the welfare and staff support framework

- Create FAQ documents and guides for both volunteers and clients to refer to when any safeguarding issues arise

- Offer a mental support system for clients and volunteers during challenging cases

We are recruiting several board member roles including Secretary and Treasurer and general Non-Executive Director. All board members share these responsibilities and requirements:

~ Provide governance oversight over our legal and financial duties as a Community Interest Company. 

 ~Guide OSN staff, team leaders and contractors, to deliver our mission and strategy. 

For some responsibilities on the Board i.e.the legal, finance and fundraising, will require a degree of management of our delivery due to these being underdeveloped areas within the organisation.

STAMP Revisited is a small but ambitious charity, which provides advocacy and emotional support to those experiencing mental health difficulties. We support them to access vital services they need that they would not be able to access independently.  We have already supported thousands of the most disadvantaged people to have their voice heard and respected.

We are currently recruiting a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees. As a Trustee of STAMP Revisited, you will play a crucial role in setting the strategic direction of the charity and ensuring good governance.  You will contribute to ensuring that the charity fulfils its mission, operates effectively, and remains accountable to those experiencing mental health issues.

In addition to the general duties as Trustee, as Treasurer you will play a pivotal role in securing the financial integrity and sustainability of our charity. You will ensure that effective and appropriate financial measures are put in place and report to the Board at regular intervals about the financial health of the organisation.

Mid Norfolk Mencap was established since 1977, and every year we provide residential living, social opportunities, and specialised Community Outreach support for more than 100 people with a learning disability in Norfolk. However, with around 16,500 adults in Norfolk with a learning disability, we know we can do so much more.

This is an exciting time for us as we work to grow and strengthen our services. As a trustee you will play a vital role in helping us deliver a stronger and more sustainable organisation for the benefit of our service users, their families, and for the staff who work to deliver those services.

Position: Trustee

Location: Trustee Board meetings and many of our charity’s activities take place in Dereham. In addition, some work may be required remotely using Zoom/ Teams, or in other parts of Norfolk from time to time.

Salary: This position is unpaid but reasonable expenses may be paid.

Responsibilities

This role is suited to candidates who can demonstrate professional or skills-based knowledge of benefit to the charity. We would particularly welcome applications from people with experience in the third sector, PR, fundraising, governance, risk management, management and law, and accountancy.

• You have a proven track record of integrity and respect for confidential and proprietary information.
• You are a keen and respectful listener who can empathise and respectfully challenge.
• You have a commitment to the charity, are approachable for our service users, and are enthused for its vision, mission and aims.
• You understand and accept the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship.
• You are willing to devote the necessary time and effort to their duties as a trustee (c. 2 – 3 hours per week depending on your role and any specific responsibilities within the Board).
• You are willing to participate in frank and open discussion and can work effectively as a member of a team.
• You can analyse proposals and their consequences, have a good level of competence with IT.
• You are willing to be available to provide guidance to the senior management team on an ad hoc basis.

Training

You will be given a basic induction to the charity and opportunities to meet with the senior management team. We also strongly encourage trustees to spend time participating in our services delivery, getting to know our staff and volunteers – and most importantly, our beneficiaries. We will customise a training and familiarisation package for the successful candidate based on prior knowledge and experience.
