Job description

Help us build a movement that changes men’s lives — and the culture that powers it.

MINDSET is creating a new kind of men’s wellbeing charity — one built on action, challenge, humour, and real‑world connection. We’re breaking the stigma around men’s mental health by offering hands‑on, practical, enjoyable experiences that help men grow, open up, and thrive.

To bring this vision to life, we’re looking for a founding volunteer who can design, build, and lead our entire volunteer programme from the ground up.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the culture, systems, and spirit of a charity at its very beginning.

What This Role Is About

You’ll be the architect of our volunteer experience — the person who ensures every volunteer feels welcomed, supported, inspired, and part of something meaningful. You’ll create the systems, processes, and culture that keep volunteers engaged, motivated, and proud to be part of MINDSET.

This role is perfect for someone who loves people, thrives in organised chaos, and wants to build something that genuinely matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build the Volunteer Programme from Scratch

  • Design the full volunteer lifecycle: recruitment → onboarding → engagement → retention

  • Create simple, effective systems and processes that make volunteering easy and enjoyable

  • Develop role descriptions, expectations, and pathways for growth

2. Recruit and Onboard Volunteers

  • Lead recruitment campaigns across platforms and communities

  • Interview, select, and place volunteers into roles that suit their strengths

  • Create a warm, inspiring onboarding experience that reflects our values

3. Shape Our People Culture

  • Build a culture rooted in action, humour, belonging, and purpose

  • Ensure volunteers feel seen, appreciated, and part of a movement

  • Create rituals, touchpoints, and traditions that reinforce our identity

4. Keep Volunteers Engaged and Inspired

  • Develop communication rhythms (updates, check‑ins, community spaces)

  • Organise training, development, and wellbeing opportunities

  • Celebrate wins, milestones, and contributions

5. Build the Infrastructure

  • Set up volunteer management systems (databases, processes, policies)

  • Ensure safeguarding, boundaries, and best practice are in place

  • Work closely with the founders to align culture with mission

Who This Role Is Perfect For

Someone who is:

  • Passionate about men’s wellbeing and social change

  • A natural organiser who loves building systems that work

  • Warm, people‑focused, and great at making others feel valued

  • Excited by the idea of shaping a charity’s culture from day one

  • Comfortable leading, planning, and taking initiative

  • Creative, energetic, and aligned with our action‑based approach

What You’ll Get Out of This

  • A founding role in a charity with a bold, needed mission

  • The chance to shape a national movement from the ground up

  • Leadership experience and strategic influence

  • Training, development, and ongoing support

  • A community that values humour, humanity, and purpose

  • The knowledge that your work is directly changing men’s lives

Ready to Build Something That Matters?

If you want to help create a volunteer culture that feels alive, meaningful, and unforgettable, we’d love to hear from you.
