We are a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing mental wellbeing. Our flagship service is The Teashop, which brings small groups of community members together to foster their mental wellbeing through an enjoyable activity with known mental health benefits, over a cup of tea.

Job Description: 
As a Volunteer Events Assistant, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our mission by supporting in-person Teashop sessions. Each session brings together groups of up to 15 adults experiencing mild-to-moderate mental health symptoms, providing them with an enjoyable activity and an opportunity for connection in a supportive environment. We’ve offered dog therapy, art-making, yoga, and wellness discussions in the past. 

Responsibilities: 
- Create Eventbrite/Facebook/Instagram ads to draw new participants to future sessions. 
- Assist with the setup and logistics of sessions for The Teashop service 
- Travel to and support Teashop sessions by helping with materials, taking photos, and managing sign-in procedures, typically two sessions per month during weekends. 
- Create engaging social media content to promote The Teashop sessions and build community awareness. 
- If required, provide mental health first aid support by signposting and offering assistance to attendees in need. 
- Collect feedback at the end of each session and input it into Excel spreadsheets.

Essential Criteria: 
- 18+ years old
- Completed A-levels or equivalent
- Must possess a valid DBS check or be willing to have it done
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively during sessions
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for engaging with diverse communities
- Availability to volunteer two weekend days per month for in-person sessions
- Ability to travel to session locations within the designated area
- Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and social media management.
 
Desirable criteria:  
- An undergraduate degree (BSc/BA)
- A valid driver's license and licensed vehicle to help transport materials
- Experience in customer service/administrative role
- Experience with working with people with mental health conditions
- Experience in social media and/or graphic design skills

Citizens Advice Exeter and Citizens Advice Torbay are separate and independent charities, with separate Boards of Trustees. For efficiency reasons we share senior staff and have many shared administration functions. We are both looking for new Trustees.

We are looking for volunteers who can help with all our visitor engagement activities, from welcoming people on arrival, to leading events and activities. Our events and activities are aimed at all age ranges from toddlers to families, new to nature and those who are already nature lovers.

You will be responsible for;

• The first point of contact with potential volunteers, including sending out volunteer application packs and responding to application enquiries.
• Evaluate applications, conduct interviews, and analyse candidates’ skills and match them with suitable volunteer positions within SUNSHINE and also perform background checks and review references.
• To collaborate with managers and wider team to identify which departments need volunteers.
• To establish the necessary volunteer numbers and skills, ensuring a smooth coordination between volunteer activities and other roles within SUNSHINE.
• To maintain accurate records of volunteers’ activities and contributions.
• To retain volunteers, creating a positive experience, recognising their efforts, and addressing any concerns they may have.
• To handle administrative tasks related to volunteer scheduling, training, and reporting.
• To ensure that volunteers receive proper orientation, induction and training and that volunteers understand their responsibilities. 
• To coordinate volunteer activities, monitor progress, and address any logistical issues.

Volunteer Van driver needed! – Lewes

Would you like to be a part of your local community? Are you looking for a volunteering opportunity? Do you enjoy driving and would like to make a difference? If any of these resonated with you, then you are in the right place!

The role

We are looking for a Volunteer Van driver to support our van team in our Furniture Now! Lewes store. This role will enable us to maximise the opportunity for furniture collection/deliveries for our charity. We are a donation-based furniture store charity, and donations are vital to the running of our operations. Helping us run the van more often would help us fulfil our mission and make a big difference!

There will always be at least one van assistant (sometimes two) with you on the van. They will support you by directing you to the right location and completing admin work. Full induction and training are provided (some of which you can add to your CV!).

By joining us, you will become part of the Furniture Now! Hailsham store team made up of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver, and van assistants as well as volunteers. Free hot beverages and biscuits are always available on-site and you will be able to join our team events!

Shift patterns

Anytime Monday to Friday. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shift: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

About the Charity

Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! Charity Group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two-tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes, and issuing grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.

We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. This is an exciting time to join our charity as we are also about to open a Community Shed in our Hailsham store to provide the local community with a third space, where people can meet, hang out, and upcycle furniture.

We are looking for a Chair of Trustees who is passionate about the cause but also keen to get involved and help drive the charity’s strategic direction.

Working for a small Muscular Dystrophy family charity, you will work closely with trustees and the charity’s founder and CEO to drive the organisations strategic direction.

Position: Chair of Trustees

Location: Hybrid / South East

The Role

You will work closely with the charity’s founder and CEO but also you will lead the trustees in strategy, good governance, and policy development. As part of this engagement, the Chair will provide support to the CEO, including supporting his wellbeing and ongoing professional development.

Other duties will include:

· When necessary, ensure the Chair and Trustees challenge the CEO constructively and only in the best interests of the charity as ‘critical friends’.

· Liaising with the Charity Secretary, and the CEO with drafting agendas and supporting papers for Trustee meetings, ensuring provision of timely information and sharing with all.

· Ensure charity business is covered efficiently and effectively in meetings.

· Undertake a leadership role to ensure that board members fulfil their governance responsibilities and that trustee decisions are acted upon.

· Maintain trustees’ commitment to board renewal, succession planning and trustee performance reviews, in line with the governing document.

· Ensure board and trustee performance is reviewed annually.

· Ensure the performance of the CEO is reviewed annually.

The Chair will also ensure that Trustees make an effective contribution and are engaged, fully involved and invested in the charity in discharging their responsibilities.

Time Commitments

· The time commitment required to fulfil the Chair role will be somewhere between 2-3 days per month

· MHF’s Trustee Board meets virtually once every 2 months, for 2 hours, within the financial year (1st Mar – 29th Feb)

· The Chair & trustees are encouraged to attend and engage with at least one Muscle Dream programme per year

· The Chair will conduct an annual review meeting with each trustee, outside of any other trustee meetings

· The Association of Chairs (AoC) are an independent association of Chairs of social purpose and not-for-profits – formed to help Chairs with their unique task to lead the board in delivering the organisation’s aims – the AoC offer some excellent resources including Chair Training (if required)

Chronically Marvellous has grown quickly in the last 6 months, and our Founder Tash needs an administration expert to handle our office tasks. 

The Administrator/Secretary will work closely with Tash, managing all behind-the-scenes paperwork and organisation. They will often be working remotely, but location close to Twickenham would be an advantage for visits to head office. 

What will you be doing?

Issuing Mobility Aids: You will be keeping accurate records of our inventory, who is assigned stock, and responsible for ensuring that we replace stock when needed.

Customer service: You will be one of the contacts for our service users, whether this be for enquiries, for information about events, or to help with philanthropy.

Governance: We are a CIC with the potential to convert to a CIO, so paperwork within this role may be used to support our application (along with the CEO and trustees support).

Events: You will help us to plan events in the area, including our regular support groups, as well as our one-off fun days and training events.

Secretary: You will be the right-hand-person to Tash, who comes up with brilliant, ambitious ideas 24/7 (sometimes too ambitious!) so you would support her in this, as well as being a voice of reason!

The organisation keeps growing and adapting as we learn what our community needs as well as what we can provide, so this role will inevitably grow and adapt too. We would love to have some on join us who has initiative and can take ownership of certain tasks so that Tash can delegate some from her role.

All roles at Chronically Marvellous are subject to a DBS check.

Who are we looking for?

Organisation: You will be a very organised person, who can make order out of chaos! At the moment, our records are in good shape, and we would love to keep them that way. We'd love a reliable person who we know will ensure the integrity of the administration side of the organisation, and someone with initiative to say when a process isn't working.

Administration: You will have experience in a supporting administrative role, where you know what to expecting working in an office environment, as well as remotely. Our organisation's staff and volunteers are mostly in London, as well as across the UK and abroad, so being able to liaise in various formats will help you in this role.

Secretarial acumen: You will work very closely with Tash, who's mind runs about 100mph on most days. There will be ad-hoc tasks required, but within the remit of an administrator.

Fundraising: This role is not a fundraising one, however, every person involved with Chronically Marvellous is expected to assist with fundraising in some way. This could mean sharing social media posts for crowdfunding, attending our fundraising events and helping out, or by directly helping our fundraising team, if that's something you are interested in. 

This is a voluntary position, so we recognise that any time given to us by a volunteer is precious, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

What difference will you make?

Chronically Marvellous is motivated by making a difference to the lives of people with chronic illnesses. Firstly, this role will greatly help our Founder to have less weight on her shoulders, so that she can focus on partnerships and truly getting to know the community. It will allow us to rely on an individual to keep our records in order, as well as an additional person who can make suggestions on how to improve our organisation. There are always plenty of new services we can provide, so you'll perhaps be able to shed some light on what works and what doesn't.

About the role

With their former Chair stepping down after 3 successful terms, they seek a new Chair to help oversee their governance, prioritise key targets, and drive financial and strategic growth.

The Story Museum is a registered charity with a Board of non-executive trustees who are legally responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the organisation, with day-to-day responsibilities delegated to the CEO and senior leadership team.

The Chair of the Board provides effective leadership by chairing board meetings throughout the year, working closely with the executive leadership team, and scrutinizing the charity’s progress against its strategy and charitable objects.

The Chair acts as an ambassador for The Story Museum, helping to raise its profile, build its network, and provide support to fundraising initiatives. The Board’s governance is strong, and trustees are highly committed and engaged – bringing the necessary energy and scrutiny to meetings. The Chair of the Board is expected to:

• Establish effective partnerships between the Board, the executive, and stakeholders.
• Ensure the Board operates at a high level underpinned by an inclusive atmosphere and active contribution from all members.
• Attend and chair quarterly Board meetings, quarterly committee meetings, the AGM, and an annual inspiration day board meeting.
• Have regular routine meetings with the Museum Director and other senior staff to act as a sounding board, provide additional scrutiny, and assist in response to urgent issues if they arise.
• Act as an ambassador at external events with an eye to secure additional funding.
• Represent the Museum to key stakeholders, including Arts Council England representatives and funders.

Who we are looking for

The Story Museum is seeking a Chair who can demonstrate:

• Corporate leadership experience at a board level (private or public sector)
• Experience in chairing Board meetings with an excellent knowledge of governance.
• Proven ability of helping to define, support and/or drive the strategic direction.
• A proven track record in stakeholder engagement, with a willingness to engage directly with funders, being mindful of TSM’s status as an NPO.
• Ability to listen, to consult and ultimately to be decisive.
• Ability to delegate effectively.
• Experience in monitoring progress against objectives and milestones.
• Experience in building networks and connections with a view to raising funds for charities and good causes across the not-for-profit sector.
• An experience and understanding of charity finance with the ability to monitor and interpret financial data.
• A passion and commitment to the values, purpose and activity of The Story Museum
• Professional or personal experience in one or more of the following: children’s story in its widest forms, publishing, education, media, the museum sector, arts, heritage and culture
• Being within reach of Oxford and Oxfordshire will make fulfilling the role easier.
• Candidates must bring experience of operating at Board level, with previous/current chairs, vice-chairs, and committee chairs especially welcome.
• A passion for the mission is vital, so experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable: children’s stories, publishing, media, the museum sector, arts, heritage, or culture.

Candidates must demonstrate a strong track record of senior strategic leadership experience and have a good understanding of governance oversight in relation to financial and senior management performance.

Our volunteers help us fund lifesaving science to improve the lives of families and loved ones living with heart and circulatory disease. If you can spare a few hours a week, or a couple of hours occasionally, we’d love you to join our volunteer team.

Are you calm, collected and happy to chat on the phone? Join the volunteer team at our new brislington furniture store. With support from the shop team, you will be the first point of contact for customers, helping them with any phone or online enquiries, arranging collections of donations via our local van teams and explaining our Gift Aid scheme. You will also be using our online collections request system to process online collection booking requests. This is a busy front of house role for those who like to be in the thick of it and makes a huge difference in helping us continue to fund lifesaving research.

Typical tasks include:

· Dealing with face-to-face, phone and online enquiries, supported by the team

· Reception and front of house duties, helping around the cashier desk

· Completing administration procedures accurately

· Arranging collections of donations via our local van teams

Role summary

In this role, you will be helping to ensure that much needed meals get to the right people, connecting cooks and diners in your local area, and assisting with collection and distribution.

If you’re eager to get involved in the Nourish Now Project but are not interested in cooking an extra portion of a meal, signing up as a Connector may be for you. 

We’ll provide you with a cool bag, some spare containers and labels. Just leave these out on your doorstep on the agreed day, so people can leave their meals in the bag. You don’t even have to be in! Once you’ve got the meals, we’ll let you know where to drop them, or arrange for someone to collect the meals from you for distribution if you’re unable to deliver them. 

We also offer the opportunity to help collect meals from cooks who are unable to deliver directly themselves and drop these to our diners- all within walking distance of you! The Connector position enables you to connect with cooks and diners alike and to build relationships with those in your community. An integral part of our model is not only fighting food poverty, but also developing stronger community ties. A friendly face and a chat can be just as important to our diners as the meal itself.

About us 

The Act Now Initiative designs simple, sustainable solutions to the problems local communities are facing. In this role, you would be working on our primary project, Nourish Now, under which volunteer cooks make one extra portion of a meal per week, which is then distributed to people in urgent need of a nourishing meal and of social connection. So far, we have facilitated the provision of over 2,500 meals, using no transport, no extra kitchens, and no extra energy.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the collection and distribution of meals.  
• Leave a cool bag out on your doorstep, so people can drop their meals within agreed hours one day a week. 
• Our meal connectors often drop the meals at a local food hub, such as a soup kitchen, to be distributed. However, if this is a barrier to you getting involved, let us know and we can try to find someone who is able to collect the meals from you and distribute them. 
• Support the smooth running of the program in your community.
• Ensure any issues and ideas for improvement are brought to the attention of team leaders.
