Job description

Volunteer Role: Graphic Designer for the Lyonic Scots Society (Remote)

Flexible • Remote • Help Shape the Visual Identity of a Historic Clan Community

About Us

The Lyonic Scots Society is a Scottish clan‑styled community with origins dating back to 1746, formed in the aftermath of Culloden. For nearly three centuries, our members have preserved our identity, traditions, and cultural spirit. Today, as our historic numbers naturally decline, we are entering a new era — transforming into a modern, global organisation with the ambition to grow into a worldwide micronation‑style community.

We are led by our Clan Chief, The Prince of Scots, ‘The Lyon’, supported by the Lyonic Council and Society Committee. As we grow, we are seeking a creative and dedicated volunteer Graphic Designer to help bring our heritage and future vision to life.

The Role

As our volunteer Graphic Designer, you will play a key role in shaping the visual identity of the Lyonic Scots. You will help create materials that reflect our clan heritage, support our global outreach, and strengthen our presence across digital platforms.

This is a remote volunteer role requiring 4–8 hours per month, ideal for someone who enjoys creative work, heritage design, and contributing to a meaningful cultural organisation.

What You’ll Create

Depending on your skills and interests, you may help design:

  • Clan‑styled graphics and heritage‑inspired artwork

  • Social media visuals and promotional materials

  • Event posters, banners, and digital flyers

  • Emblems, insignia, and symbolic clan imagery

  • Membership certificates and official documents

  • Branding elements for our global micronation‑style identity

  • Visual assets for cultural, educational, and community projects

Who We’re Looking For

You do not need Scottish ancestry — only creativity and enthusiasm. We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, especially those who are:

  • Skilled in graphic design (any major software or digital tools)

  • Creative, reliable, and able to work independently

  • Interested in Scottish culture, clans, symbolism, or heritage

  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating with our Council

  • Excited to help shape the visual identity of a growing global community

A portfolio (even a small one) is helpful but not required.

Why Join Us?

  • Play a meaningful creative role in a Society with nearly 280 years of heritage

  • Help shape the visual identity of a rising global clan community

  • Gain experience designing for cultural, heritage, and community projects

  • Work alongside passionate volunteers and heritage enthusiasts

  • Contribute to preserving and revitalising a community born in one of Scotland’s most significant historical moments

Time Commitment

Fexible, remote. Work is project‑based and can be adapted to your availability.

How to Apply

If you feel inspired to help design the future of The Lyonic Scots Society, we would love to hear from you. Please apply through CharityJob with a brief statement about your interest and any examples of your design work (if available).
