URBAN YOUTH — VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME LEAD / VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Build the volunteer movement powering London’s next generation.
Postcodes shouldn’t be destinies. URBAN YOUTH is a volunteer-powered movement disrupting traditional youth work by delivering high-impact, urban-style scaffolding for young Londoners. No red tape. No waiting lists. No corporate youth centres. Just raw opportunity, dropped directly into the heart of the city.
We will transform empty shops, concrete cages, community centres and street-side studios into pop-up hubs of creativity, culture and skill-building — all delivered for free, all powered by volunteers, all designed to open doors that have been closed for too long.
To make this happen, we need a Volunteer Programme Lead / Volunteer Coordinator who can build an unforgettable volunteer experience — a programme that attracts, energises and retains a diverse community of volunteers who want to be part of something bold, fast, and meaningful.
This is not an admin role. This is culture-building, people-powered, start-up leadership.
If you’ve ever wanted to create a volunteer movement from scratch, this is your moment.
Your Role: Build the Volunteer Destination
As our Volunteer Programme Lead, you will design and deliver the entire volunteer experience at Urban Youth — from recruitment and onboarding to motivation, culture, recognition and long-term engagement.
You will:
-
Build a vibrant, inclusive volunteer programme that feels exciting, modern and meaningful
-
Recruit volunteers who bring energy, creativity and heart to our pop-up youth work
-
Create a smooth, welcoming onboarding journey that sets volunteers up for success
-
Develop a strong volunteer culture rooted in belonging, purpose and street-level impact
-
Coordinate rotas, roles and responsibilities across our pop-up programmes
-
Motivate and support volunteers during sessions, ensuring they feel valued and confident
-
Lead on volunteer communications, updates, recognition and community-building
-
Make Urban Youth a destination to volunteer — a place people are proud to be part of
Your leadership will help ensure every volunteer feels connected, empowered and ready to deliver impact directly to young Londoners.
