Make a difference to the lives of rescue cats! We have a number of roles within our cat rescue based in York. 

Home visitors

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare & quality of life for the cats & kittens in our care.

Our home visit volunteers help us to assess each home environment and a families circumstances to ensure our cats are suitably matched to their new family. This is a vital step in our rehoming process to ensure our cats get the happy ending they deserve.

You can dedicate as much or as little of your free time to this role- picking up outstanding home visits as and when you can.

This role can also be done remotely (from home) if necessary or preferred.

We rely on our fantastic team of dedicated volunteers to continue our work and would love for you to join us.

Fundraising

We are looking for cat loving people with a little free time and lots of ideas to join our fundraising team!
 

This role includes all aspects of fundraising including organising and taking charge of ideas/ events with the support of the wider team and helping out at events. 

We need your help to raise much needed funds to support the work that we do and help give cats and kittens in need a better future. 

Fostering

Join our fantastic volunteer team to help us improve the welfare and quality of life of cats & kittens in our care.

• Do you love cats but unable to commit to one of your own?

• Do you live approx 40 min radius of York?

• If you have pets, do you have a spare room to foster cats/ kittens in need?

• Do you have access to a vehicle?
   

We are looking for people to join our wonderful supportive team of foster carers! 

Caring for cats/ kittens in your home while they undergo rehabilitation and wait to be adopted doesn't cost you a penny. We provide full training & support along the way.

Transport Volunteers

We are always looking for transport volunteers to join our team. This role involves transporting animals, equipment and donations too and from various locations in and around the York area. We may also occasionally need help transporting cats and equipment from further afield. 

Unreal offers support and information to people with lived experience of Depersonalisation and Derealisation (DPDR) - including people experiencing symptoms themselves and their carers, friends and families. We aim to raise awareness of DPDR, provide up-to date clinically-validated information, signpost people to relevant resources, push for policy change, assist in research studies and enable people living with DPDR to speak with others through our flagship Peer Support Programme to help support each other.

We are supported by a dedicated network of volunteers and ambassadors whose expertise and lived experience are central to what we do.

Despite being a small and relatively young charity, officially founded in 2019, we have established ourselves as the leading voice on DPDR in the UK and are proud of what we have achieved.

Unreal enters this next chapter from a position of real strength. We have established ourselves as the leading charity for DPDR in the UK, with a peer support programme that continues to grow in demand, strong relationships with clinicians, policymakers and researchers, and a clear strategic direction.

We have recently set our key priorities for 2026 to 2030, and we are looking for new board members who are excited to help us deliver on that ambition.

This is a significant moment for the charity. We are recruiting for trustees at a time when we have strong foundations, a clear sense of purpose, and real momentum. The people who join us now will help shape the next chapter of Unreal.

At such a pivotal time for the charity, and to help achieve our ambitions, we are looking for enthusiastic and committed individuals to join our Trustees.

Time commitment

• Board meetings: monthly (9 per year), held online

• Full trustee days, held in person: twice a year

• Online Trustee meetings, twice a year

• Additional time required for specific projects or sub-committees

Support for new trustees

Expenses

All reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out your role as a trustee will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy.

We are not looking for a particular type of person. We are looking for the right people. Within our trustees and board, we aim to bring together a range of skills, backgrounds and perspectives.

In addition to the specified roles below, we will also be recruiting more widely, and welcome applications from anyone who fulfils the below general criteria.

We ask all trustees to commit to a term of three to four years. The Chair may be appointed for a term of up to five years.

Before you apply

Trustees of Unreal must meet the following eligibility criteria. Please check these before applying.

You must:

• Be 18 years of age or older

• Not be automatically disqualified under the Charities Act 2011. This includes any person: with undischarged bankruptcy those who has been declared bankrupt; that has entered into an IVA; been disqualified as a company director; or that has certain unspent criminal convictions relating to dishonesty, fraud or contempt of court

• Have no safeguarding restrictions that would prevent you from working with vulnerable people

• Be willing to declare any conflicts of interest and to complete a DBS check

All trustees are expected to uphold Unreal's Code of Conduct for Board Members. A copy will be shared with shortlisted candidates and must be signed on appointment.

Volunteer Ambassador

We are looking for conscientious and proactive Volunteer Ambassadors to help raise the profile of ECI and support fundraising within the community.

Despite being one of Exeter’s oldest charities, many people are still unaware of the work we do. As an Ambassador, you will help share our impact, connect with the community, and support fundraising activity so more people can benefit from our services.

By joining our fundraising and engagement team, you will play an important role in helping ECI continue its work across Exeter and beyond.

What you’ll be doing

• Attend occasional group meetings and community events
• Represent ECI at local events, stands and awareness activities
• Help promote and support fundraising activities and initiatives

Fort Amherst Heritage Trust cares for Fort Amherst in Chatham, Kent, preserving an important historic site and making it available for the benefit, enjoyment and education of the wider community. The Trust relies heavily on volunteers to help maintain, restore, interpret and promote the site for present and future generations.

Role Purpose

Trustees are collectively responsible for the governance, strategic direction and long-term sustainability of Fort Amherst Heritage Trust. As a Trustee, you will help ensure that the charity fulfils its charitable purposes, complies with its legal duties and makes decisions in the best interests of the Trust and the communities it serves.

Key Responsibilities

· Work with fellow Trustees to set and review the Trust’s vision, strategy and priorities.

· Ensure the Trust carries out its charitable purposes for the public benefit.

· Oversee the responsible management of the Trust’s finances, assets, buildings, grounds and collections.

· Support good governance by complying with the Trust’s governing document, charity law and relevant regulations.

· Monitor risks, policies and procedures, including health and safety, safeguarding, finance, data protection and volunteer management.

· Contribute to discussions and decisions at Board meetings, reading papers in advance and offering constructive challenge and support.

· Act as an ambassador for Fort Amherst, promoting its heritage, community value and volunteer-led work.

Skills and Experience

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is looking for reliable and pro-active individuals to volunteer at Mouth Cancer  Awareness Walk. If you are free between 0900 and 1600 on Saturday 5th  September 2026 and can get to Old Deer Park Twickenham Road, Richmond TW9 2SLthen we need you. There are a variety of roles available.  Duties include lead, middle and rear walking, route marshalling and helping out at the start and finish area setting up the event and signing in the participants.

All volunteers will be provided with lunch and vouchers which can be exchanged for hot and cold drinks.

Mission 44 is a charitable foundation launched by Sir Lewis Hamilton in 2021 to create a fairer, more inclusive future for young people. We work to ensure every young person can thrive in school and access great careers, particularly in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths).

Lewis' own journey to Formula 1 required him to overcome barriers linked to race, class and opportunity. In 2020, he established the Hamilton Commission to understand why motorsport was not representative of wider society. Mission 44 builds on the evidence and recommendations of the Hamilton Commission. While informed by the Commission, its remit extends beyond motorsport, focusing on wider education and employment systems to expand opportunity at scale.

Working across the UK, the US and Brazil, we invest in the organisations closest to young people from underserved communities, and we use our platform to influence the systems that hold too many young people back.

Diversity is at the heart of Mission 44. It is fundamental to how we create change. We therefore see it as essential to bring different ways of thinking to our Board of Trustees, and are now seeking 3-4 new Trustees to join our Board and be part of realising our ambitions to scale opportunities for young people. 

One of these will be a Young Trustee, aged 18 – 30, and we are open to backgrounds.  We will provide you with additional guidance to help you navigate board responsibilities, contribute fully to discussions and develop your governance and leadership skills. For wider Trustee roles, backgrounds will ideally include one of the following areas:

· Safeguarding experience

About the Role

Wear Yellow Day is one of Cystic Fibrosis Trust's flagship fundraising campaigns, bringing people together across the UK to raise awareness and vital funds for everyone affected by cystic fibrosis.

Since launching more than a decade ago, Wear Yellow Day participants have raised over £1 million to support Cystic Fibrosis Trust's work. We're now looking ahead to Wear Yellow Day 2027, taking place on 11 June 2027, and are seeking enthusiastic Champions to help us build on that success.

As a Wear Yellow Day Champion, you'll help spread the word about the campaign through your own networks. Whether that's encouraging colleagues, inspiring friends and family, promoting Wear Yellow Day within a school or community group, or sharing campaign messages online, you'll play an important role in helping make the campaign a success.

By joining us early, you'll also have the opportunity to help shape ideas, build awareness and generate momentum ahead of Wear Yellow Day 2027.

This is a UK based role and a flexible volunteering opportunity that can fit around your existing commitments. Full training, resources and support will be provided.

What You'll Be Doing

You could support us in a variety of ways, including:

• Promoting Wear Yellow Day within your workplace, school, university, community group or local network.
• Encouraging friends, family members, colleagues and community contacts to take part.
• Sharing campaign messages, fundraising ideas and promotional resources.
• Raising awareness through social media and other communication channels.
• Helping people access campaign information and resources.
• Celebrating and sharing the achievements of Wear Yellow Day participants.
• Sharing ideas and feedback to help improve future campaigns.

Sported's Volunteer Consultants lend their professional or lived experience to help make grassroots sports clubs and community groups more resilient, impactful and effective with skills and experiences our groups don’t currently have.

Seeking volunteers with experience in:

This is not an exhaustive list and many of our groups simply benefit from having an experience, external voice to use as a sounding board to help improve the way they run.

Why we want you

As a community engagement volunteer you and your fellow branch members will create a range of activities to help spread the word about SSAFA within your community to ensure that that our Armed Forces community know that SSAFA are here to help and that we need the public’s support to continue offering our services.

This role is diverse and allows for you to focus on the areas that you have skills or interests in. The role has flexibility and can work around your other commitments.

Below are some examples of possible activities you can take on or be a part of as a SSAFA Community Engagement Volunteer.

What you will be doing

• Activity Organisers - Love planning? Help coordinate amazing events like charity dinners, carol concerts, and local fairs.
• Event Champions - Be the friendly face of SSAFA! Help at events, chat with visitors, sell merchandise, and spread the word about our work.
• Promoting SSAFA Services - Help provide a warm, welcoming presence at Veterans Breakfast clubs, cafes or hubs - offering information about SSAFA services and signposting as appropriate.
• SSAFA Storytellers -Deliver engaging talks to organisations and groups, sharing SSAFA’s incredible history and mission.
• Community Connectors - Collaborating with the Community Engagement Manager to establish a local network, promote SSAFA's services, and respond to community opportunities such as gardening projects.
• Fundraising Heroes - Whether it’s rallying local businesses, organising events, or getting creative with unique fundraising ideas, you’ll play a crucial role in keeping SSAFA’s support going strong.
