At the Poppy Factory, we help armed forces veterans with health conditions to find meaningful and sustainable employment after service. This often means overcoming significant barrier to employment. As an Employment Consultant, you will be assisting veterans across the South East back into work. Based at your home, but with extensive travel, you will help with application materials, overcome challenges, and connect with employers. You will also work alongside professionals in other services such as health or welfare to ensure that the veterans have access to all the support they need to overcome barriers to gain and retain employment.

Your role

This is a very special role to provide holistic health and wellbeing of those who visit our open drop-in at the Vineyard Community Centre in Richmond. To us, they are our guests, not 'clients', 'patients' or users'.

This will include personal health screening, and holistic health support; also to provide health education, and liaison with outside agencies and local surgery. Many of our guests have multiple and complex needs involving, mental health, drug/alcohol dependency and homelessness.

Duties and responsibilities

About the Role:

Victim Support (VS) is the leading independent charity in England and Wales for people who have been affected by crime and traumatic incidents. Understanding the experience and needs of victims and witnesses of crime is central to the charities' aims and vision.

As a Research & Lived Experience Officer you will have the opportunity to capture the voice of victims and promote evidence based recommendations to improve the experience of victims in the criminal justice system. You will be a part of a small but enthusiastic research team, while also having the opportunity to lead your own project.

You will have the opportunity to recruit participants and manage a Lived Experience Engagement Forum, and to regularly engage, build and maintain close relationships with the forum's participants. You will also need to conduct workshops/focus groups to collect feedback and insights from the participants on various products and procedures, and produce summaries of this feedback.

To be successful in the role you will need to have proven experience in recruiting vulnerable people to take part in research activities and conducting workshops or focus groups and interviews. Experience in writing and analysing surveys is an advantage. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently, as well as experience of working in partnership with various stakeholders. Having knowledge of victims of crime is desirable, but not essential.

• Oversee and improve standard operating procedures and forms
• Support the HR & Operations Manager with administration of new and current consultants, volunteers, and interns (recruitment, contract reviews, induction, and compliance training schedules)

Operational Support

• Coordinate the procurement process for items and services including approvals, advertising, tender process, preferred supplier contracts, communication to parties
• Undertake office management tasks including responding to THET mail/ calls; arranging and servicing office meetings; maintaining email distribution lists and email accounts
• Facilitate the purchasing of staff IT and other work equipment in line with budget
• Activate email accounts; coordinate laptops for new staff/leavers; open and close IT accounts for starters, and deactivate these for leavers
• Act as the main point of contact for the outsourced IT supplier.

Health and wellbeing

• Prompt Country Directors to ensure Country risk registers are up-to-date and evacuation/hibernation plans exist

About the role:

As the Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser you will use your core knowledge and skill to reflect on strategy, relationship building and leading our charitable profile and income streams.

You will develop and influence strategy formation with supporters and other stakeholders to identify and actively seek out and engage trusts, foundations, and other funders by writing compelling and comprehensive funding bids, presentations, and applications.

You will work collaboratively with Senior Management Team to enhance stewardship to enable creative, effective, and appropriate activities to promote the development of sustainable engagement with supporters.

About you:

You will have demonstrable knowledge and experience of trusts and grants fundraising in a complex organisation as well as experience of prospecting, writing, and managing the application process. Ability to develop relationships with a broad range of stakeholders is vital.

In this role you will need excellent communication and IT skills together with demonstrable ability to plan, prioritise and work proactively. Understanding of the health/housing sector would be advantageous.

THE ROLE
The Engagement and Communications Officer (ECO) is part of an exciting new ‘Building Capacity Project’ which seeks to develop the skills and capacity of communities on the west coast of Scotland to deliver the aims of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest i.e. protect and restore Scotland’s globally important temperate rainforest. The Woodland Trust has secured funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) for this project's initial two-year ‘development’ phase.

The ECO will support the Project Development Manager, project team members and local staff working in three landscape-scale project ‘hubs’ (in Argyll, Morvern and Torridon). The role will provide opportunities for audiences to connect with Scotland’s rainforest and build the skills and capacity needed to sustainably restore it. This involves working with communities, organisations and specialists to a) raise awareness of Scotland’s rainforest, b) facilitate volunteering, on-the-job training and the sharing of learning about how to restore it, and c) inspire a long-term commitment to look after it.  

The ECO will plan and deliver communications and engagement activities during the project's development phase, and support the Project Development Manager to create a comprehensive activity plan for the delivery phase.  This includes surveying audiences to benchmark attitudes; managing a launch event; using existing (or establishing new) local and regional communication channels to reach audiences and share progress; co-developing with partners a series of meaningful engagement opportunities; supporting project ‘hubs’ to develop their own communications and engagement plans and monitoring the impact of project activities.

This is an 18-month fixed-term position. Should our funding bid for the subsequent five-year ‘delivery’ phase be successful, we hope the ECO will remain in post to support the delivery of these plans. 

THE CANDIDATE
You will have experience building relationships with a range of stakeholders including community organisations and are comfortable collaborating and engaging effectively for different outcomes e.g. learning, consultation or facilitation. 

You will be able to confidently organise and deliver a range of events from online webinars to community gatherings; have working knowledge of using social media for marketing, capturing interesting content and writing engaging stories, and you’ll be happy self-managing a diverse and varied workload. 

Plus you’ll have experience working as part of a project team, supporting funding bids, budgeting for, and reporting on the impact of your activity. Oh and have a genuine interest in Scotland’s rainforest of course!

A full UK driving licence is required so you can travel across the west coast when required. Access to your own vehicle would be ideal.

Office Location – Wendover, Bucks.

Salary - Up to £30,000 (FTE)

About the Role 

The Events Fundraiser will support the charity’s aim to provide all life-limited children, their families, and carers, within their hospice, emotional support through the power and pleasure of nature. The post holder will be responsible for generating income through the management of a range of fundraising events, as well as supporting individuals organising their own fundraising activities within their community and/or corporate environment. 

You will ensure efficient event management and administration as well as provide excellent supporter care. 

The Event Fundraiser will:

• Project manage a range of events, including planning, marketing, and supporter stewardship, through to event delivery and evaluation. 
• Effectively manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver and schedule events, on time, within budget, meeting fundraising goals. 
• Deliver exceptional supporter care to those who support the work of the charity. 
• Plan and deliver events, including logistics, briefing of stakeholders and volunteers, compiling risk assessments and any other tasks relevant to ensuring an excellent supporter experience. 
• Ensure the supporter database is accurate and up to date, as well as follow all relevant financial processes to ensure event income and expenditure are accurately recorded. 
• Report fortnightly to the Director of Fundraising & Communications on agreed fundraising targets and activity. 
• Be responsible for ensuring relevant community and events pages, news, and forms on the Greenfingers website are accurate and up to date. 
• Work collaboratively with the team.
• Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required.
• Work in line with the Fundraising Regulator and Charity Commission guidelines, and other relevant codes of conduct.

Working as an integral part of the Fundraising & Communications Team, you will be:

• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Our mission is to help children and young people have a fair chance to be who they want to be. We do this by providing a safe home, increasing life skills and self-confidence, and improving emotional wellbeing and mental health.

You will be working as part of the West Sussex night team providing mobile support to our 24-hour services, ensuring that our transitional properties are safe, secure, and welcoming through the night. You will be based at the Horsham Y Centre and will support the static night worker there during the night as well as undertaking your mobile duties. You will regularly complete building checks and monitor CCTV upkeeping health and safety regulations in accordance with YMCA DLG's policies and procedures. You will work to prevent any anti-social behaviour from impacting our neighbours and other residents. You will help to contribute to a great working environment, with a calm, yet assertive manner, being able to handle potentially difficult situations.

In addition, you will work alongside other support staff to maximise the wellbeing of residents by completing one to one interventions with young people who may be experiencing mental health crisis and/or who may need medical assistance.

This is a mobile role, requiring all applicants to have a full valid, UK Driving Licence. You will also be lone working as part of the role, so you will need to be comfortable with decision making and following procedures.

You will work on four nights on, four nights off rota. Although these are long shifts, you will get four days off after, which can provide a great work life balance.
