Purpose of the Role

 To bring senior-level fundraising expertise to the Board of Trustees, advising and supporting Momentum’s income generation strategies and providing constructive challenge and oversight of the charity’s fundraising activities.

 Key Responsibilities

 §  Provide expert advice, guidance and strategic input to the Board and senior leadership on all aspects of fundraising.

§  Support the ongoing development of Momentum’s multi-stream fundraising strategy (including major donors, corporate partnerships, trusts & foundations, events, community fundraising, legacies, and digital fundraising).

Knowledge, experience, and a thorough understanding of the charity sector are essential, alongside a demonstrable commitment to our values. Previous board experience is desirable but not essential. We particularly welcome candidates with lived experience of the issues we are seeking to address, including socioeconomic inequality, mental health, and the asylum process.

The League of Remembrance have supported Armed Forces veterans, and their families for over 100 years. At the outset they supported the widows of those who never returned from the Great War, and, as they developed, extended this support to encompass all veterans who have served with the Forces of the Crown; their widows, spouses, and dependents; retired nursing staff and, more recently, to those suffering from illness or disability in order to aid their recovery. Today, many of their Remembrance Workers deliver varied volunteer services, mainly in Greater London, but with a presence also in Bucks and Essex. This service to the community maintains and improves individual health and wellbeing, offers companionship and social interaction, and provides valuable community support.

The League of Remembrance is seeking to strengthen its Board with the appointment of two new Trustees. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting veterans and those affected by disability, and who can help shape the future of the charity as they continue to grow and evolve.

You’ll be part of a team overseeing and running the replenishment order, with large volumes of stock moving from the warehouse to the Foodbank distribution centre. This is a physical role as you’ll be on your feet a lot and you must be comfortable with some heavy lifting and maintaining a clean and safe warehouse.

By volunteering as a warehouse assistant, you can make a real difference to people’s lives providing vital help and support locally. This role is an essential part of how Brent foodbank operates and without it we would not be able to run all of our weekly sessions.

What you will be doing

• Fulfilling the replenishment requests from our Foodbank shop
• Lifting cardboard and plastic crates in and out of the van in line with current manual handling guidelines
• Keeping warehouse area clean and tidy at all times, ensuring relevant materials are recycled
• Following Health and Safety guidance, manual handling training and the other policies and procedures related to the running of the warehouse
• Undertaking any other duties that may be reasonably expected to fulfil the role
• If applicable, and interested, becoming one of our van drivers (optional)
