JOB DESCRIPTION
Why we need your help
We are looking for Ward Support Volunteers to support patients and staff on our busy wards.
You will spend time talking with patients and help them take part in activities which meet their interests and needs – this could be in a group or on an individual basis. You may also be asked to help staff with admin tasks and catering requirements.
What we need you to do
Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks:
- Sit and chat with patients and identify their personal interests
- Plan and offer activities to patients such as reading, card games, board games, crosswords and listening to music
- Have refreshments with the patient (outside of the Ward room where possible)
- Accompany patients to appointments, to the garden or another communal area (where deemed appropriate by the Nurse in Charge)
- Prepare and set out crockery and cutlery before meals and put away afterwards
- Refill patients’ water jugs
- Help with other related tasks as necessary
What skills or experience do you need?
- Able to volunteer as part of a team and on your own without supervision
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Confident and approachable manner
- Positive and flexible attitude

e are excited to recruit for the new KGHP Fellowship to support health systems strengthening across Sierra Leone. We are looking for nine senior Medics, Nurses and Midwives to support the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)-funded Saving Lives Phase III programme in Sierra Leone. The programme aims to support the Government of Sierra Leone to deliver on improving maternal, child and reproductive health outcomes in the country.
KGHP will be leading a Clinical Mentorship programme across six districts in Sierra Leone to support Nurses and Midwives with vital lifesaving skills. Over a 12-month period (June 2024-June 2025), each Fellow will support the development of a hospital education team, underpinned by a continued professional development framework. In partnership with the hospital management team, the Fellow will co-create and deliver a Leadership in Education programme. The Fellow will also support clinical mentoring on the wards and a mentorship cascade system, working with smaller, rural community health centres.

Saint Francis Hospice, rated outstanding by the CQC, specialises in providing care for people in our community with palliative and end of life care needs. We provide care for any person, from any faith or cultural background, who have been diagnosed with a serious illness who are living in Havering, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Brentwood or parts of West Essex. You will be an exceptional influencer and negotiator, with a successful track record of relationship development and collaborative partnership working with a wide and varied range of stakeholders. In addition, you will bring experience in representing organisations on a local, regional, and national scale.

Voluntary Trained Observer Healthwatch Hounslow
What is Healthwatch?
Healthwatch Hounslow is an independent organisation set up to champion the views of health and social care service users. It strives to make sure that health and social care services are meeting local needs and to ensure that the public’s voice is heard regarding how local services are run.
About the Role
Healthwatch services have a statutory function to carry out Enter & View visits to health and care services to review services at the point of delivery. This involves visiting with a team of representatives to observe the service, view the premises, and talk to both staff, patients/residents, carers, and relatives. Visits involve using all the senses and going through questions and surveys. Enter & View visits often take place at care homes but can cover a range of services such as hospital wards, community clinics, and support groups.
You will receive full training on how to perform an Enter & View visit.
Tasks

Visiting and scrutinizing health and care facilities (remotely and in person) through 2–4-hour visits.

Talking with patients, residents, carers, relatives, and staff and gathering their feedback and views through in person interviews, surveys, and questionnaires and gathering these through emails and phone calls

Skills and experience of Enter & View build during each visit. We suggest E&V volunteers are committed to long-term involvement in Healthwatch Hounslow to benefit from what this role has to offer.
Travel Commitment

Visits can happen to services across the borough of Hounslow. You must be willing and able to travel across the borough–sometimes this could be up to 1.5 hours.

New Theatre Royal Portsmouth (NTR) is a beautiful 640-seater Grade II* listed theatre in the heart of Portsmouth. It is situated in one of the most deprived wards in England. The building is owned by Portsmouth City Council and the theatre is run by a registered charity which programmes a vibrant mix of drama, comedy, music, dance and pantomime. The charity undertook a strategic review in 2023 that recognised the need to build stronger links with the community and provide cultural opportunities and services beyond the programming.
NTR has recently appointed a new board and a new Chief Executive at the start of an exciting chapter in the life of the Theatre. We are looking to supplement the board three new trustees.
We are looking for:
- An experienced trustee with a background in education. You may have experience of serving on other boards or reporting directly to them, either way you’ll understand the role of governance and trustees. You will have recent experience of working in a school or college at a senior level (or similar type of role) and understand how the arts can support the national curriculum and offer opportunities to pupils.
- An experienced trustee with a background in business and/or entrepreneurship. You may have experience of serving on other boards or reporting directly to them, either way you’ll understand the role of governance and trustees. You can have worked in any industry and can see opportunities for a business to increase turnover or reduce costs.
- A trustee with experience of conservation of a listed building and property maintenance/management. You don’t need to have experience of working with boards. You’ll bring an understanding of the challenges of managing a Grade II* listed building that is busy with shows and audiences.
As a Trustee, you will ensure good governance and best practice, supporting the organisation in complying with legislative and regulatory requirements; you will support the Chair in setting the overall direction and development of the charity through clear strategic planning; you will act in the best interest of the organisation, its beneficiaries, and future beneficiaries; you will support the promotion of the organisation; and you will ensure sound financial management and that resources are spent in line with the organisation’s strategy.
A full induction and training will be provided.

Healthwatch Wandsworth - ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher
Healthwatch Wandsworth is looking for volunteers who are interested in community research and being part of the Enter and View team.
The role of Healthwatch is to work with the local community and users of health and social care services to ensure that these services are responsive to local needs and delivered to a high standard. We plan visits to services and talk directly to clients and users about their experiences. This is fed back to the managers of the service and we follow up on any actions that may be taken in response to our findings.
One of the ways that Healthwatch can contribute is through its' legal powers to `Enter and View` premises such as hospitals, day care centres, or residential homes to observe the quality of care and to speak with patients, service users and carers.
We need volunteers who, through their work, volunteering, or personal experience, understand health and care services. We particularly welcome people who have personal experience of using services and reflect Wandsworth's diverse population.
Healthwatch Wandsworth's authorised representatives on the Enter & View team will be provided with clear guidelines about the premises they are going to visit, the purpose of the visit, and the reporting arrangements. Relevant training and support will also be offered.
As an ‘Enter and View’ Community Researcher you will
· Take part in an induction process.
· Attend training/briefing sessions.
· Visit health and care premises such as hospital wards, GP surgeries or day centres on a pre-arranged basis.
· Talk to the service users and staff that you meet on the premises and document their views.
· Observe and record what you notice.
· Undertake work face to face with members of the public, occasionally it may be over the telephone or an online meeting.
Essential Role Criteria
· Aged 18 or over.
· Knowledge of health and social care services, either through work, volunteering, or personal experience.
· Excellent inter-personal skills, tact and diplomacy.
· The ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.
· Ability to listen to what people are saying and reflect these in notes and reports in a non-judgmental way.

Role Description:
Nova Roots is a new out of hours community space for women 18+ leaving forensic mental health services, open 3 days a week; every Weds, Sat & Sun. We offer a safe, warm, non-judgemental social environment for women to build meaningful connections and have access to free activities and resources.
As a peer volunteer, your role will be to support individuals using a peer approach by co-facilitating peer-led workshops, offering emotional and social support. By doing this, it provides an opportunity for service users to develop and manage meaningful and purposeful choices in an independent and empowered way.
Please be aware that if you are invited to interview you will be asked to complete a self-declaration form covering your criminal record or any information that would make you unsuitable to work with the vulnerable parties associated with this role, i.e. vulnerable adults and/or children and young people.

- Are willing to tap into their lived experiences and use their stories to inspire hope in others when appropriate
- Are comfortable with co-producing and co-facilitating peer led workshops
- To assist the Forensic Project Coordinator in the daily running of the Forensic Women’s hub
- Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities within the Forensic Women’s Hub
Time commitment and expenses:
- Flexible hours (shifts to be confirmed). Evening and Weekend availability is required. We are looking for someone to commit to a minimum of at least 1 day a week: Wed, Sat or Sun.
- We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role

We are looking for reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to be part of our Hub Team. Working in the main hospital atrium you will be the first friendly face people see when they come in to speak to the Charity or to browse our merchandise.
The role will involve chatting to people about the Charity, providing information, handling cash and card transactions and keeping the hub clean and tidy.
This is a regular weekly opportunity working a 2-3 hours shift between 9am-5pm Wednesday to Friday. Suggested shifts:
- Weds: 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-4pm
- Thurs: 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-4pm
- Fri: 9-11am, 11am-1pm, 1pm-4pm
We are particularly keen to find for someone who could volunteer from 1-3pm on a Tuesday or between 11am-2pm on a Wednesday, but any regular time you can give would be very much appreciated and these shifts are flexible.
We are looking for someone who could ideally commit to at least 6 months.
All volunteers have to go through the UHB Trust volunteering registration which includes a DBS check. All training will be provided by your Volunteer Coordinator.
