People with mental health issues are more likely to be dependent on benefits, be at risk of homelessness and in debt. We believe that advice relating to benefits, debt and housing can alleviate stress and support better mental health.

Your role in this team is to provide advice but also to be the lead advice worker across the Food Bank team – ensuring compliance with the Advice Quality Mark. You will also have the wider Manchester Mind Advice Team to connect with.

Within this post, you will play a key role in supporting people who are attending local food banks to access their rights and entitlements. You will be part of an experienced team of advice workers who work collaboratively to share skills and knowledge.

Job Title: Lead Benefits, Debt and Housing Caseworker (Food Banks)

Name of Project: Financial Inclusion Project

Salary: £33,289 - £34,273

Responsible To: Advice Service Manager

Working Hours: 35 hours per week for 12 months

(with extension possible dependent on funding)

Location: Victoria House and food banks located across Manchester

The skills and knowledge that are important to us are:

· To advise people with regards to their rights and entitlements in welfare benefits, housing and debt.

· To work in a cooperative and supportive way with staff and volunteers.

· To continuously develop your knowledge and skills.

· To work collaboratively with partners in a way that creates good working relationships.
