We have a maternity cover opportunity available in the team at MASH. As an Outreach & Engagement Worker you will provide gender and trauma-informed support to women who are rough sleeping, begging and/or sex working in Manchester.

MASH is the only organisation in Greater Manchester which exists specifically to support women who sex work. Through our range of services we build trusted relationships with women to keep them safer, healthier and more equipped to take control of their lives.

Purpose of the role

To work with other members of the MASH team to achieve the following outcomes:

• To improve women’s health
• To improve women’s wellbeing
• To increase women’s safety
• To enable women to identify and achieve their goals
• Women who sex work are heard, understood and experience less stigma
• Other agencies and policymakers understand the needs of women who sex work and are more effective at supporting them

Using a gender and trauma-informed approach, the Outreach & Engagement Worker will deliver 2-4 daytime outreach sessions per week in Manchester alongside partners, colleagues and volunteers. They will also attend the Street Engagement Hub weekly to provide specialist support to women attending this multi-agency hub. They will provide brief interventions and casework support to women supporting their needs holistically.

Job Description:

Domestic Abuse Women’s Case Worker

37.5 hours per week based at Stockport Women’s Centre

Salary: £26,225 after competencies complete £28,300

Annual leave: 25 days plus statutory bank holidays

12-month Fixed term contract 12 extension subject to funding

Main Aims of the post:

• To support and work with women from Stockport who are experiencing or experienced domestic abuse which will include safety planning, risk assessment, safeguarding, case management and advocacy.
• To hold and manage a caseload, creating and monitoring personalised support plans.
• To deliver group work to women, relating to domestic abuse awareness.
• To provide a weekly drop-in session to women that are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
• To work collaboratively with our domestic abuse partnership as well as other agencies as appropriate to the case.
• To support the Head of Service as she develops the quality standards for The Women’s Centre.
• as ongoing informal consultation to keep supervisor informed of any changes that require management decisions
• To contribute to the development of the team and to new forms of work or service.
• To maintain an up to date knowledge of and awareness of developments in public policy and legislation regarding women in the criminal justice system and related subjects.

• Must hold a relevant qualification relating to health & social care or have equivalent work experience.

We are looking for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker - Thriving Families, to deliver tailored DA support interventions within a muti-disciplinary team. 

The role
This role will work collaboratively within Manchester City Council's multi-disciplinary Thriving Families Team to support adult victims/survivors of domestic abuse within families where there are safeguarding concerns. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will provide trauma-informed, strengths based and needs led support to help victims/survivors increase safety, reduce risk and improve their emotional wellbeing. Through one-to-one tailored interventions, the role will empower victims/survivors to make informed choices, rebuild confidence and access specialist support services.

The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will work collaboratively with the Domestic Abuse Prevention Worker and partner agencies, ensuring a coordinated, multi-agency, whole-family approach. They will complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments, develop and regularly review individual safety and support plans, provide advocacy, attend multi-agency meetings and ensure the voice of the victim/survivor informs risk management and safety planning.

About you

You'll be confident in delivering direct work with adult victims/survivors of domestic abuse. This will include completing comprehensive risk and needs assessments to develop tailored safety and support plans, alongside providing practical and emotional support that promotes recovery, resilience and increased safety.

You'll have experience of working in a trauma-informed way with individuals experiencing domestic abuse and be confident in providing advocacy, psychoeducation and support around the impact of domestic abuse on adults, children and parenting. You'll have experience of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working.

Above all, you'll have the ability to build trusting relationships with victims/survivors, empowering them to make informed choices while working collaboratively with professionals to achieve positive outcomes for families. You'll bring a compassionate, 

strengths based and solution focused approach. We'd also love to hear from applicants who are fluent in speaking an additional language.

To support the delivery of the community-led violence reduction programme in Salford, working with young people, communities and VCSE partners in Little Hulton. 

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit worked with 10GM, other VCSE providers and local communities to co-design our approach to a community-led violence reduction programme. The programme is one of the Violence Reduction Unit’s flagship projects across Greater Manchester and is in line with the ambitions of the Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Strategy and Public Service Reform programme to involve communities to identify priorities, problem solve and direct investment and interventions accordingly. In Salford, the programme will be delivered within Little Hulton.

Hours: Part-time, 18.75 hours per week.
