Sounds great, what will I be doing?

During the night hours, a key responsibility is ensuring the overall security and safety of both the building and its service users. This involves regular health and safety checks, monitoring emergency alarm systems, CCTV surveillance, and conducting routine patrols throughout the premises. Staff are expected to co-produce risk assessments, crisis plans, and support and safety plans in collaboration with service users, their families, and professionals to reflect individual needs and circumstances. Providing person-centred support is essential, particularly during periods of crisis or mental health relapse, and includes offering intensive help around substance misuse by promoting harm reduction and safe use. Night staff also support service users in achieving outcomes related to health, economic wellbeing, personal safety, and meaningful engagement, while responding effectively to emergencies and ensuring accurate reporting. Additional duties include caretaking responsibilities such as managing housing issues, completing cleaning tasks as outlined in the rota, and conducting flat checks as necessary throughout the night to maintain a safe and supportive environment.

The candidate must be highly motivated, maintaining excellent service delivery and support standards even when managing unpredictable or challenging behaviours. A thorough knowledge of relevant legislation—such as welfare reform, the Care Act, and housing pathways—is essential for supporting clients in crisis. They should be confident in engaging service users in assessments and co-producing, implementing, and reviewing support and safety plans, ensuring all documentation is accurately recorded and regularly audited. Proficiency in MS Office and other case management systems is necessary, as is an understanding of basic building safety and maintenance issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required, as well as the flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Additionally, the candidate must be capable of handling and recording financial transactions, including petty cash, with precision and accountability.

You must be willing to embrace all aspects of the role including, but not limited to, providing support with personal care and domestic tasks, and supporting individuals to access work, education and social opportunities. We value the personal skills and interests you bring to the role and to the lives of the people we support, such as outdoor pursuits, creative arts and culinary skills to name but a few.

You will be required to work in a flexible manner, on a roster basis, which will include evenings and weekends as needed. A minimum of 12 months previous care experience is essential.

Creative Support is seeking committed Female Support Workers for an exciting opportunity to join our team under the Transforming Care Agenda using a Trauma Informed approach. Our Preston Trauma Service provides three single bespoke adapted support living services with Learning Disabilities, Autism, Mental Health needs and Trauma Histories. The Preston Trauma Service operates 24/7 to facilitate the transition and support of three women out of long stay mental health institutions to their own homes in the community.

You will be involved in supporting women with their individual support needs, achieving their goals, giving them control over their care and promoting independence in a calm and quiet environment. You will promote structure, boundaries and routine in the home and in the local community to enforce a safe and nurturing environment. You will also be involved in the effective running of the home, facilitating activities in the home, completing daily household tasks and maintaining the wellbeing of our ladies by offering consistency and predictability. We are seeking compassionate, reliable individuals who are willing to provide a person-centred approach to care.

Experience of working in the care sector is desirable but not essential as we will provide all training necessary for the role. Due to the nature of the service, you will be expected to work across the three services to meet the needs of our ladies to deliver high standards of care and quality of life, working in line with our company policies and following individual support plans.
