Who we are

The Manna Society is an ecumenical Christian organisation and registered Charity. It runs the Manna Day Centre at 12 Melior Street, London, SE1 3QP, the largest day centre working with homeless & vulnerable people in the London Borough of Southwark.

What we do

The Manna Day Centre, a drop-in Centre for homeless and long-term unemployed single men and women, is run by a team of project workers under the Director, who are responsible for its smooth operation. Basic Services offered include food, showers, clothing, housing & welfare advice, medical care, and access to laptops. The Centre opens to the service users 7 days a week, 8.30 a.m. – 1.30 p.m.

The Advice & Welfare team functions centre around finding accommodation, welfare benefits, debt management, sustainment of tenancies and support in becoming “job-ready”. Clients may approach us with other issues, and it will be the Advice & Welfare team’s collective responsibility to decide whether the matter can be managed within the team or requires external input/expertise e.g. immigration issues and refer/signpost accordingly. The focus is on delivering practical solutions to client issues.

Our advice sessions run from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. The sessions offer a mix of appointments and drop-in opportunities for existing users of the Advice & Welfare service and those who are new to the service

Working Hours

The working week for this particular post is Monday to Friday, 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. each day. Annual leave is 25 days plus time in lieu of bank holidays worked. The annual salary for this post ranges from £33,775 to to £41,359. The starting salary will be dependent on your experience.

Reporting

The Manna Society operates in a collegiate manner but ultimately the Director is responsible for all staff matters. The Manna Society is an Equal Opportunities employer. Responsibilities – Advice & Welfare Work

a) Lead and manage other members of the team through supervision, advice & welfare meetings etc in coming to agreement on implementation of policies and procedures tasks and pathways for client cases.

b) To manage a caseload of clients as agreed with the Director and the Advice & Welfare team representing/advocating for the client, as necessary

c) To help develop partnership and networking opportunities to expand our repertoire of providers in housing and other key areas

d) Keep up to date with appropriate legislation and policies. In doing so, attend relevant training to deliver “best advice” and make recommendations/research required training for other members of the Advice & Welfare team

e) Write reports and deliver statistics on your clients as required

f) Maintain confidential records and administrative systems including database, block grants and petty cash systems amongst others

g) Contribute newsletter articles on a quarterly basis

h) Attend team meetings of all staff as required

i) Ensure compliance with all society policies relating to Advice & Welfare and the centre

Responsibilities – Administration

As the senior worker in the team, you will be expected to assume responsibility/provide support in the following areas:

a) Providing statistical analysis and reporting as required by LB Southwark grant which supports the cost of running the Advice & Welfare team in part

b) Providing ad-hoc reports/case studies to support external grant applications on behalf of the society

c) Support the Safeguarding Lead (the Director) in producing the Safeguarding policy and associated materials, ensure that the Advice & Welfare Team have up to date Safeguarding and Prevent training

d) Manage all formal Subject Access requests in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 and support members of the team undertaking SARs on behalf of Advice & Welfare clients

e) Manage and disseminate all private rented property vacancies to the curated list of recipients on a daily basis

f) Assume responsibility for the database to maximise efficiency and ensure that all records are maintained to enable production of reports

g) Maintain all grant spreadsheets for accuracy and in readiness for annual accounts/audits

h) Be responsible for managing regular Advice & Welfare meetings and subsequent actions arising from those meetings

i) Prepare Advice and Welfare presentations for bi-monthly management committee and attend said meetings

These are the principal responsibilities. However, the Director may require staff members to undertake other duties, as and when circumstances dictate – for example, staff/volunteer shortages, holidays, special occasions, etc.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Policy & Projects Officer. Reporting to our Policy & Projects Manager, you will be instrumental in organising and coordinating various initiatives aimed at amplifying the voices of care workers. Your responsibilities will include supporting the management of the national Care Worker Advisory Board and Champions Board, organising monthly online sessions, facilitating roundtables, and arranging conferences in collaboration with the advisory board members and the wider CWC team. Salary: £27,000 - £28,000 per year. 16 months fixed term with the potential for extension based on funding. This is a hybrid role with home working and attending team meetings, events and conferences in London. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with the Policy & Projects Manager to plan and execute advocacy and campaigning projects 

• Create and promote surveys

• Manage project budgets, track expenditure, and ensure financial accountability across advocacy and engagement activities 

• Draft accessible, accurate policy summaries to inform internal stakeholders and care workers of key developments and proposed legislation 

• Coordinate logistics for conferences and events, ensuring smooth execution 

• Engage with care workers to gather insights and feedback on key issues 

• Assist in developing and implementing strategies to promote the rights of care workers 

• Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and team members 

• Responsibility for content for online platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Tik Tok, LinkedIn and Website. Liaison with team regarding scheduling and monitoring. 

• Production of case studies for use on social media and our website

• Monitor online care worker forums. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

• It would be beneficial if you have experience working as a care worker in adult social care in the UK

• Experience of project coordination and working collaboratively within an organisation 

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to negotiate and to build and maintain good working relationships, up to and including senior management level 

• Demonstrated ability in co-production 

• Experience in organising online and offline events 

• Passion for advocating for change in the care sector and advancing care workers' rights

CPSL Mind’s Perinatal service delivers one to one and group support to pregnant women and new mums and dads who are at risk of, or are experiencing, a mental health challenge in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The main purpose of this role is to deliver the support we offer to new parents in our area by providing a collection of tools and techniques to promote positive mental wellbeing through our groups and one to one sessions.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the United Kingdom delivers a range of programming to support migrants, both in the UK and internationally, including projects focusing on labour migration, resettlement, migration and development, migrant protection, human trafficking and modern slavery, and community cohesion.

In the framework of the “Safe Migration of Seasonal Workers from Central Asia to the UK” project, IOM plans to develop self-help resources for migrants from Central Asia to the UK under the Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS).

This activity has been proposed in recognition of some of the challenges and risks faced by migrant workers during the migration cycle as it relates to scamming – from recruitment, to being in the UK and on return – so as to provide migrant workers with practical information and resources/ appeal documents that help them to better protect and advocate for themselves.

The self-help resources for migrant workers will complement ongoing pre-departure orientation (PDO) sessions provided to prospective workers in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan before they come to the UK, in which they are provided with information about life in the UK, cultural and work practices, working and living conditions, gender norms, etc. By providing additional self-help resources before departure and while in the UK, migrant workers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will have further targeted information about key scamming risks identified and guidance for ways to protect themselves or seek support.

Catch22 are excited to be recruiting for a specialist Women & Girls Case worker for our new Home Office Funded County Lines Support and Rescue Service.

The Case Worker role will undertake 121 work with young people under 25yrs old and will specialise in working with female young people within the service.

County Lines Support Service A specialist support service for under 25’s and their families who are criminally exploited through county lines in London, the West Midlands, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Rescue Service a rescue service with out of hours capacity to facilitate the safe return home, at a critical teachable moment, of under 25’s from London, the West Midlands, Merseyside and Greater Manchester where they are identified outside of their home police force area in connection with county lines.

Some of your day-to-day tasks will be:

Provide one to one, end to end, appropriate support, and interventions to a pre-defined case load of female young people involved in County Lines activity (and their families where appropriate) who are referred by means of effective assessment, care planning and risk management
Act as the single point of contact and specialist in the region for women and girls involved in County Lines activity. Attend multi-agency meetings and engage with key stakeholders to raise awareness of the distinct needs and circumstances of women and girls and how the service can support them.  Act as point of contact in the region for our partners, providing gender based training, awareness and developing a differentiated offer to improve the impact and effectiveness of services for women and girls involved in County Lines Activity.
Proactively and continually assess and manage risk of caseload, using internal and external safeguarding procedures for escalation and where necessary and adapting case management frequency and methodology to reflect the individual needs and circumstances of young people.
To ensure that the diverse needs and aspirations of all groups of service users are considered in service planning and delivery and to enable all service users to fulfil their potential.
Liaise effectively with local partner organisations and other relevant agencies to ensure effective referrals, care and risk management as well as ease of transition and referral for young people and to promote the continued joint work of the service and other partners. Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a related field such as youth work, community work, health & social care, or a similar discipline.

Experience working directly with young people (aged 8–25) and their families, particularly those identified as vulnerable or with complex needs.

A strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by young women and girls affected by exploitation and County Lines activity.

Proven experience of multi-agency working, ideally with Children’s Services, Youth Justice, or other statutory and voluntary organisations.

Knowledge of risk and vulnerability issues affecting young people, and the ability to assess and manage these risks appropriately.

Ability to deliver one-to-one and group interventions, and to adapt engagement strategies to meet individual needs.

Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to maintain accurate records using data management systems.

Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of an on-call rota.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

About the Role

As a Night Young People Case Worker, you will work under the direction, guidance and support of a Service Manager and an Assistant Area Director you will work as part of a team covering the night shift hours delivering an assessment, support and move on service to vulnerable clients in supported accommodation.

About the role

Your focus will be to deliver high quality housing advice and advocacy in line with the hub’s local community projects, working alongside people who are experiencing homelessness and bad housing to identify issues facing local communities.  You will plan and deliver casework to individuals and communities to resolve their housing situation and engage with community groups, local organisations and individuals to understand local housing issues and raise awareness of people’s housing rights.

You will also work in local community settings and with community groups to deliver advice and rights awareness workshops and make sure that people with lived experience of homelessness have opportunities to share their story, give their opinions and participate in the design and delivery of Shelter services. Offering day to day support to volunteers, providing learning, shadowing and mentoring and being a consistent role model for our values are also key aspects of the role.

About you

You are able to listen to, engage and work with individuals and communities and with all stakeholders, including people with lived experience of homelessness. You will have experience, knowledge of and/or proven ability in housing and homelessness advice and advocacy and are able to progress to specialist level knowledge, as well as the ability to carry out casework related interviews, maintain detailed case records, advise and support clients to make informed decisions. An enthusiasm for delivering group workshops and presentations is essential, as is a collaborative, flexible and professional approach to your work.

International Care Network is a Christian charity whose aim is to help to rebuild the lives of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants. We are looking for two experienced support workers to support individuals and families under all relevant Government resettlement schemes (predominantly Afghan, but not limited to), who have been resettled in Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and Dorset. This post specifically will offer support through the Housing First approach, offering access to a home, alongside intensive support. Working within a harm reduction ethos prioritising women’s safety and wellbeing, the intensive personalized supported will help women to access other services making appropriate referrals for women who wish to make changes, including exiting/transitioning out of sex work. You will be responsible for ensuring that women with varying needs are supported effectively throughout their pathway of support with Basis and partners, advocating for and with the women you are working with including where necessary challenging stigma and judgement women face. This post will work in close partnership with the Tenancy Management Support worker employed by Turning Lives Around.

Our services in Leeds provide support to adult women (and those identifying as women/non- binary) involved in all aspects of the sex industry or who are experiencing exploitation. The postholder will provide support to women identified as requiring or accessing intensive support. The team work to Basis’ organisational values, taking a rights-based approach and provide evidence-based services to enable and empower women to make informed choices. The team have an established reputation for providing high quality, effective safety advice, information and support, enabling safer working practices. Services are provided within the community, on evening outreach and at venues as women determine.
