This is a part-time role in a well-established charity based in Twickenham. This role would suit someone who wants to have the opportunity to work flexibly and build their career in the Charity sector with experience of working in social care.
This is a part-time role, however these is the opportunity for it to be full-time up to end of March 2027. We can discuss this more at the interview stage. The role is due to start early September.
Richmond Carers Centre, a network partner of the Carers Trust, is a registered charity providing information, support, advice and a voice for carers living and caring in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
Helping Carers to Live Well is our organisational aim. We provide a targeted service to young carers, aged 5 – 18 years. Young carers, provide vital emotional and practical support to a family member with a care need including sibling young carers. Their care role can have an impact on their wellbeing, education and social opportunities. We are looking for someone with the skills and ability to offer a coordinated approach in supporting young carers in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames.
As a Young Carers Support Worker, you will be part of a small, dedicated team and take a lead on providing emotional support to young carers and a commitment to enhancing their wellbeing. The role supports in the direct delivery of a range of services to young carers including information and advice, emotional support, a mentoring programme, signposting and referrals to other specialist organisations. As part of the Young Carers Support Team, you will also be involved in the planning and delivery of an extensive programme of leisure break activities for young carers, both term-time and in the school holidays. Part of the role will also aim to improve the identification, recognition and understanding of the needs of young carers, raise the profile of young carers and ensure young carers needs are met. Using all your skills, you will work with the team to deliver, review, and continually develop services for young carers and to use appropriate monitoring and evaluation reports to show our funders what we’ve achieved.
You will be someone:

Main Duties include:
· To provide regular emotional support to young carers and their families through a range of methods, offering appropriate, generic advice
· To provide individual support to young carers, and sibling young carers on a case-by-case basis towards established outcomes through delivery of a mentoring programme
· To be proactive in the identification and registration of young carers, which will include conducting internal assessments of their caring role and responsibilities and identifying support needs
· To support with the planning and participate in the delivery of young carers group activities and events
· To work with schools, voluntary organisations, statutory services, health services and others to raise awareness and identify young carers
· To keep accurate records of group and individual young carer engagement for monitoring and evaluation purposes
· To participate in key events organised by Richmond Carers Centre and other relevant partners to promote services to a wider public

About this key role
Your role will be to provide young person-centred holistic support – including everything from helping clients to understand their own behaviour and its consequences, and promoting change, to helping clients’ families to support them and providing practical help with attending appointments, education, training and employment options, housing, benefits, debt and other aspects of day-to-day living. The digital skills gap is costing the UK economy an estimated £63 billion a year in lost GDP. Ada seeks to fill this skills gap by equipping young with the skills industry actually needs.
Ada was announced by the Prime Minister in December 2014; England’s first new FE College since 1993 and since then we’ve gone from strength to strength including a Good with Outstanding features in our first Ofsted Inspection.
16-19 Provision:
As of 2024, we have 187 16-19 students enrolled. Our most recent results are outstanding; 39% of A level results at A*- B and 74% achieving at least one Distinction or better in their externally assessed Computing BTEC. This makes us the best education institution in the country for this BTEC.
Degree Apprenticeships:
Across our London Victoria and Manchester Ancoats campus, we have 363 apprentices currently enrolled on our Higher and Degree Level Apprenticeships. We specialise in five disciplines at present: software development, data analytics, tech consultancy, cyber security and business analysis, working with a wide range of SMEs and corporate organisations such as PwC, Bank of America, Deloitte, Clearscore, Just Eat, Capita, MHRA, Booking,com and Salesforce.

I. Learner Experience and Inclusion

Our Family Support Programme
We launched our Family Support Programme in September 2025, initially as a three year pilot working with families across Wandsworth, with aims to be able to expand and continue the service beyond this. This service offers flexible, relationship-based support to families facing a range of challenges, helping them navigate systems, strengthen protective factors, and improve outcomes for children. Operating across extended hours, the service is accessible and responsive, with a strong focus on early intervention, collaboration, and building trust with families.
About the role
We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Family Support Worker to join our new Family Support Service, supporting families initially across our partner schools in Wandsworth (with the aim of expanding the service beyond this over time).
This is a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative early help service from the outset, working within a small, dynamic team to make a tangible difference to the lives of children and their families. As a Family Support Worker, you will deliver flexible, hands-on, and therapeutically minded support to families facing multiple and complex challenges.
You will build trusted relationships through home visits, school meetings, and practical support - empowering parents and carers to strengthen routines, manage behaviour, improve attendance, and access services. Your role will be guided by detailed needs assessments and focused on achieving meaningful outcomes with each family.
Working closely with schools, health and social care professionals, and other local partners, you will contribute to effective, joined-up support for families. Using a restorative approach, you will help build resilience and give families the tools they need to make informed decisions and sustain positive change.
This role is ideally suited to someone with experience working in early help, family support, or community-based roles. You will be confident working independently in family homes, committed to safeguarding, and motivated by making a real difference in children’s lives. You'll also benefit from high-quality supervision, therapeutic reflective practice, and a supportive team culture that values learning, collaboration and compassion.
