About the role:

We are looking for Night Support Assistants to join our dedicated Youth Services team, supporting young people aged 16 and over in Greenwich. Working in a supported accommodation setting, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for at risk young people and young people leaving care, helping them navigate their personal challenges and work towards their goals. Your presence and support at night are crucial to the overall wellbeing and development of the young people we serve.

In this role, you will oversee the overnight operation of our schemes, ensuring that the needs of each young person are met. You will be the first point of contact during the night, responding to incidents, emergencies, and any late-night activities. This responsibility is not only about keeping the service running smoothly but also about making a real difference in the lives of the young people in your care, building important nurturing relationships. Your guidance, compassion, and ability to handle situations calmly will empower them to feel safe and supported at all times.

What will you be doing? 

• To undertake mediation with 10-24 year olds and their parents / main carers (including siblings and other family members) as appropriate across Hertfordshire
• To undertake short & longer term mediation sessions with young people and their families (including siblings and other family members) as appropriate.
• To work closely with hyh’s Advice and Information Workers and other referrers to engage families in the mediation process
• To chair and co-ordinate family meetings alongside the Advice & Information workers and  co-ordinate and  implement focused action plans to encourage families to find their own solutions / prevent family breakdown and homelessness.

Role overview

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced support worker to join our Young People Support Team based in Hackney. You will provide client directed, person centred support to help young people achieve personal goals and aspirations for independent living, training, employment, and education. To provide specialised, holistic support to young people between the age of 18 and 25 who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm and violence, and are being supported within Community services in Torfaen.

All posts are full-time office based and will require flexible working across service areas and interventions and will involve some regular evening and/or weekend work to meet the needs of young people.

What is the overall purpose of the role?

We are looking to appoint a Support Youth Worker to help develop and deliver an innovative and progressive youth programme for our Girls Project, in a safe industrious and supportive environment working primarily with young girls from diverse communities.

The Girls only group (targeting ages 11-19 years) will promote life skills, well-being and female empowerment. Helping girls move forward through the next stage of their lives to become the women who will shape their community in the future. The Girls group will support, provide advice, mentoring and signposting to additional support services.

Responsibilities:

• Support with the research, planning and delivery of an innovative and progressive programme of youth activities in collaboration with young people and the lead worker.
• Carry out financial and administrative procedures related to the Girls Project.
• Support the promotion of the Girls Project including collating and creating content to be used for online and offline marketing and advertising (hard copy, posters, social media posts etc).
• Record all attendances (registers) for all sessions and populate data required for reporting purposes in a timely manner.

Centre 33 is an ambitious and growing charity based across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We offer a range of high-quality services to young people aged up to 25, including information and support on a “drop in” basis, mental health services, counselling, housing and financial advice, sexual health support and support for young carers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our established ‘Someone to Talk to’ service in a Team Lead role.  The Team Lead will manage and oversee a team of staff and volunteers supporting young people across Centre 33’s two hubs in our South Locality – in Cambridge City and Ely. The Team Lead will work closely with the other Team Leads and Heads of Service to jointly ensure our multidisciplinary teams deliver excellent, safe, impactful and responsive services to young people.

We are looking for a highly motivated professional with experience working within a practical support, youth work or mental health role, and with experience of managing people.  The Team Lead will bring strong expertise and leadership to Centre 33’s holistic support offer for young people aged 13-25 years: our open-access drop-in, ongoing support around practical needs such as housing, and flexible mental health support. They will be responsible for providing support with case allocation, case management, reflective practice, risk management and Safeguarding. They will provide day-to-day designated Safeguarding leadership, supported by the Head of Service and Director of Services.  They will develop strong relationships with local organisations to ensure effective joint working and support for young people.  This role may deliver ad hoc case work to support young people with more complex needs but will not hold an ongoing regular case load.

The hours of work for this role are predominantly within core opening hours of 10 to 6pm, with some evening/Saturday working based on a rota. Due to our service delivery, it is important that the Team Lead is available for hub-based work during our core working hours.

Working Pattern – 37.5 hours per week, worked flexibly over five days.  Weekend working will be required.

Salary – £24,700 per annum (£12.67 per hour). 

    25% pay enhancement for all weekend hours worked.

    Sleep-in payment of £100.80 for any sleep shifts worked.

Key Tasks....

• Undertake direct work that is designed to meet the individuals needs as identified within the Person-Centred Plan, enabling them to maximise their full potential. Supporting the individual’s significant relationships and working with families will be a part of this task.
• Develop and maintain a robust awareness of safeguarding and protection issues (POVA), how these fit with positive behaviour support and raise any concerns regarding the individuals with the appropriate people.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records of the work undertaken with the individuals and complete written reports for planning meetings. This will be in consultation with the line manager and be undertaken to a standard commensurate with the professional aims of the service.
• Work pro-actively within a team of skilled and professional specialists to ensure that positive behaviour support as a whole approach is implemented into day-to-day support, the culture of the service with individuals who may present challenging and at times socially unacceptable behaviour.   This is supported by training and ongoing support.

Our Youth and Play Practitioners will play a pivotal role in the Children, Young People and Families team, working as a core team of practitioners to ensure the smooth running of our programmes and services. In this role you will be part of a small and dynamic team which delivers a wide range of programmes and activities, both from Tulse Hill Adventure Playground and within local schools. The work of the Children, Young People and Families team is diverse and varied. Our current services include open access adventure play and youth activities at our Adventure Playground, school holiday programmes with off-site trips and activities, coaching in local schools, a Young Leaders programme offering paid work experience to young people, and working together with our youth partnerships Building Young Brixton and Lambeth Peer Action Collective.

To support our range of children and young people, our team will be made up of specialist Youth Workers and Play Practitioners bringing in relevant skills and experience. Whilst you will work across all of our Children, Young People and Families services you will have a specific focus:

As a Youth Worker you will:

• Focus on supporting our secondary age cohort
• Plan and run appropriate activities
• Provide structured interventions to support vulnerable young people
• Work with referral partners to provide additional support and activities

As a Play Worker you will:

• Focus on our primary age cohort
• Use your knowledge of Playwork Principles to plan and run engaging activities
• Foster relationships with families and local primary schools

Both roles will include an element of mentoring, relevant training will be provided to give you the necessary skills to deliver this.

To be successful in this role, you will act as a trusted practitioner in all our service delivery, advocating for children’s right to play throughout our programmes. You will work as part of the team on the delivery and planning of all sessions, ensuring that the children’s and young people’s ideas are central to the construction of a varied and engaging play environment. You will understand the wide-ranging challenges facing young people and will be flexible in adjusting your practice to meet these needs.
