For over 15 years, Scotty's Little Soldiers has been supporting children and young people who have been bereaved of a parent who served in the British Armed Forces.  We are about to embark on an exciting journey which will see the charity evolve to support anyone affected by a military-connected bereavement and ultimately empower a community of more than 25,000 bereaved individuals and their families by 2035.

Founded in 2010 by Nikki Scott following the death of her husband, Corporal Lee Scott, the charity currently offers a unique blend of emotional, practical, and educational support to over 750 young people.

Role Mission:

To be at the heart of planning, promoting and delivering diverse, exciting, and high-impact events that will engage supporters, create bonding opportunities for families, and connect our team.

This role will be accountable for:

Supporting the event owner in the successful planning and execution of all events across the charity, including the Families, Supporter and Operations Teams at Scotty's. This will include developing, promoting and delivering a range of events that align with our mission and values, drives supporter engagement, cultivates opportunities for our families to bond, and provides team collaboration.

What are the 3-month goals for this role:

· Can articulate the charity’s goals, culture, and impact, and how the Events Manager role supports this to happen. 

· Has a good understanding of the events plans for each team and the upcoming and year to view calendar of events.

· Establish initial contact with key stakeholders, including team members, partners, and supporters.

What are the 6-month goals for this role:

· Conduct an audit of current event plans and materials and speak with at current partners for feedback and learnings.

· Develop a comprehensive event strategy, outlining key tactics, timelines, and performance metrics.

· Identify and qualify suitable venues for upcoming events, ensuring they align with the charity's mission and values

· Establish success measures and key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse event results, and identify areas for improvement.

What are the 9-month goals for this role:

· Improve specific performance metrics, such as event budget management, event marketing effectiveness, and attendee satisfaction within the first nine months.

· Develop a comprehensive event strategy, outlining key tactics, timelines, and performance metrics.

· Track success measures and key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse event results, and identify areas for improvement.

What are the key responsibilities of this role:

• Develop and implement event plans with clear deadlines, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate with our partners and suppliers, ensuring required service levels are met.
• Identify and secure suitable venues that align with the event's theme and requirements.
• Negotiate with venues to obtain the best deals, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising on quality.
• Arrange catering services that meet the dietary needs and preferences of attendees.
• Book travel and accommodation for team members, families and other guests as needed, ensuring comfort and convenience.
• Assist with communications and marketing efforts to promote events and increase attendance.
• Manage event setup and takedown, ensuring all elements are in place and the venue is left in good condition.
• Oversee the design, sourcing, ordering, and delivery of branded materials (e.g., welcome packs, T-shirts, banners) to enhance the event experience.
• Write accurate risk assessments and ensure event safety, particularly for children, by identifying potential hazards and implementing preventive measures.
• Accountability for health and safety compliance at events, adhering to legal requirements and best practices.
• Implement appropriate safeguarding measures at events attended by families, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Coordinate event activities, ensuring they run smoothly and according to schedule.
• Arrange and facilitate pre- and post-event meetings (e.g., briefings, wash-ups, debriefs) to ensure all team members are informed and any issues are addressed.
• Adhere to budget constraints set by the Event Owner, ensuring all expenses are accounted for and within limits.
• Provide appropriate updates to the Event Owner and team members accordingly.

· Developing and implementing strategies to maximise event attendance and fundraising revenue.

· Knowledge or experience of or with the military community.

School in a Bag Trading Ltd is the wholly owned trading subsidiary of the charity School in a Bag and all profits made by the company are given to the charity to support its work in providing rucksacks full of educational, hygiene, eating and drinking equipment to displaced, deprived and disadvantaged children across the world. 

We operate a flagship three-day music festival, Home Farm festival, which has grown significantly in recent years. 2026 will be Home Farm Festivals 19th year and having started as a small one stage event it has now grown in profile and numbers, attracting nearly 5000 people on site for the weekend with 100’s of local bands performing, supported by nearly 200 volunteers.

Building on this success, we are now looking to diversify and expand our event portfolio to increase income and reach new audiences. The Event Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our events programme, leading on the management of the existing festival and developing, planning, and executing a wider range of events – from concerts and community initiatives to potential new commercial ventures. 

The role requires a creative, entrepreneurial, and commercially minded individual with strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills. We are looking for someone with Event Management experience and excellent team and volunteer engagement knowledge. This is an exciting opportunity to further develop and grow an existing successful event alongside creating new events to raise the profile of the organisation and the charity and to generate further profit to support its work.

The Rise service offers evidence-based individual and group interventions in educational settings for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties, as well as supporting settings to develop their whole school/college approach to mental health.

Practitioners work out of identified schools but can also access The Children's society offices in Newcastle & Gateshead.

Job description 

Overall purpose of role 

The Director of Operations and Finance is a pivotal senior leadership role responsible for ensuring WeProtect Global Alliance has robust and highly effective financial management, operational, governance, and risk infrastructure. The Director will provide strategic financial leadership, act as the primary resource for the Board on governance matters and oversee corporate compliance to enable the impactful delivery of the organisation's strategy to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse online. 

We are seeking a highly experienced operational leader who is a proactive and confident decision-maker. You will be an influential SMT member and a trusted advisor to the Executive Director and the Board. You must be able to think strategically and solve problems, translating complex technical requirements (finance, legal, risk) into clear, pragmatic, and achievable goals. You will operate with high ethical standards and integrity, modelling the Alliance's values of Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment across all internal and external relationships. 

Key Responsibilities 

Corporate Governance, Risk & Compliance  

• Corporate Governance: Ensure Alliance governance is efficient, effective and provides the necessary support and oversight to the team to enable delivery of our mission, leading on review and optimisation of our governance structures and management. Act as a key advisor to the Executive Director and Board on all aspects of governance, legal compliance, and statutory obligations (including Dutch Chamber of Commerce and UK Companies House requirements).

• Risk Management: Senior responsible owner of the strategic risk register and proactively monitor and escalate strategic risks, reporting on high-level mitigation strategies to the Board and Finance, Risk and Audit Committee. Liaising with the Deputy Head who will oversee the day-to-day monitoring and reporting of operational risks. 

• Internal Control & Audit: Set the strategic standard for the internal control environment. Commission, approve the scope for, and receive final reports on all internal or external governance reviews or audits. Approve all final audit recommendations and plans before presentation to the Board. 

• Legal Compliance: Ensure the Alliance is compliant with all relevant UK, Dutch and international laws, managing external legal counsel relationships as needed, including maximising pro-bono support. 

Operations and People Management  

• Operational Oversight: Provide strategic direction for core operational functions, ensuring the Deputy Head of Operations and Finance delivers effective day-to-day operations including procurement, IT infrastructure, and general administration. 

• Human Resources: Lead internal responsibility and the strategic development of the people management function, in liaison with the Executive Director. This includes owning the overarching policy framework, approving major changes to employee benefits, and managing any external HR consultants or support services to ensure all HR policies, recruitment practices, and performance management are compliant. Overseeing the Deputy Head on supporting the implementation of capacity building across the Secretariat.

• Line Management: Directly line manage and mentor the Deputy Head of Operations and Finance, setting clear objectives, managing performance, and supporting professional development. As a member of the SMT, you may also play a key role in matrix managing team members across the organisation.

• Cross-Organisational Leadership: Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and all members of the SMT to foster a culture of high performance, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement across all functions, including implementation of our organisational Diversity, Equity and Inclusion policy and our overall organisational strategy. 

Strategic Financial Management & Leadership  

• Financial Strategy & Planning: Lead the development and own the ultimate approval of the organisation's financial strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability and resource allocation aligns with strategic objectives. Working closely with the Deputy Head of Operations and Finance on setting  the parameters for the annual budgeting cycle and it’s execution.

• Budgeting & Reporting: Produce accurate, timely, and insightful financial reports and analysis for the Executive Director, Senior Management Team (SMT), and the Board/Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, drawing on the preparations of the Deputy Head e.g. forecasting, overseeing annual budgeting cycle and fincnial planning 

• Audit & Statutory Compliance: Take ultimate accountability for the annual statutory audit process, ensuring all financial statements are prepared in compliance with relevant legislation and best practice for the Alliance’s Dutch and UK registered entities. 

• Systems and Controls: Own and strategically evolve the financial control framework, ensuring robust policies, procedures, and systems are in place. Champion organisation-wide adherence to these standards, working closely with the Deputy Head who will oversee daily compliance and financial reporting accuracy. 

• Grant Financial Management: Work with our Head of Development to oversee the financial management and reporting for all restricted and unrestricted grants, ensuring full compliance with donor requirements. Contribute to the organisation’s investment strategy and diversification by assessing financial viability of new funding sources or income models. 

Person Specification 

Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Skills 

• Sector Experience: Proven senior leadership experience (Head of or equivalent) within a non-profit, charity, or international NGO setting. 

• Governance & Risk: Extensive experience in developing, implementing and managing corporate governance frameworks, statutory compliance, and organisation-wide risk management in the non-profit sector. 

• Legal Expertise: Demonstrable deep experience and knowledge of relevant legal frameworks and regulation relating to the non-profit sector in the UK and Netherlands.

• Financial Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of relevant financial regulations, statutory accounts and audit processes, with proven experience setting the financial strategy and controls framework for an organisation. 

• Leadership & Management: Demonstrable track record of successfully leading, managing, and developing a multi-disciplinary team, including the management of senior direct reports. 

• Strategic & Communication Skills: Excellent strategic thinking, with the ability to translate complex financial and governance information into clear, accessible reports and advice for senior stakeholders (Executive Director, Policy Board, Finance, Risk and Audit Committee).

• Experience as a Company Secretary or equivalent governance role.

As a Pause Practitioner, you will be responsible for implementing a range of interventions and support measures as part of an integrated package of health, therapeutic and social support. Pause is specifically designed to address the complex needs of women, through intensive support, to enable change in their lives, and ultimately reduce the numbers of children being removed into care. You will work systemically in delivering a relationship-based programme where frequency, tenacity and creativity are central.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

· Project management: Plan and manage projects from start to finish, making sure deadlines are met and everyone delivers on their part.

· Meetings and follow-up: Organise and run management meetings, keep notes, and make sure agreed actions happen.

· Governance: Oversee compliance and act as Company Secretary, keeping records accurate and up to date.

· Finance: Use Xero and work with accountants/bookkeepers to oversee budgets, accounts, and financial reports so the numbers are always clear.

· Fundraising and business development: Support funding applications, proposals, and relationships with partners to bring in new opportunities.

· Operations: Keep the day-to-day running smoothly — from diary management and HR basics to coordinating contractors.

· Communications: Maintain simple but effective comms, updating the website and keeping social media active.

SKILLS & QUALITIES

· Strong organisational and project management skills

· An excellent writer, whether contracts, bids or public facing materials

· Experience of operations, governance, and finance oversight in a small organisation, ideally a social enterprise or startup

· Confidence managing budgets and financial reporting (not a finance role, but able to keep track)

Sitting in the Community and Events Team, the Digital Events Team is responsible for securing an annual income of £2.1 million from online fundraising activities. This role is key within the team and leads on the development and longer-term growth of the organisation's digital fundraising activities so to increase funds, engagement, and awareness. The post holder will be responsible for a team of 3 and have strategic oversight of the busy calendar of events that they manage. They will manage the organisation’s digital fundraising activities, explore and test new products and channels as they emerge, deliver exceptional behavioural supporter journeys, ensure income targets are achieved and make certain that the organisation continues to reach and retain new supporters.

They are looking for someone with a demonstrable track record of planning and managing digital fundraising activities, and demonstrate innovation and ambition in a challenging, competitive and fast-paced environment. They are looking for a candidate with demonstrable digital and social media skills with experience of producing and delivering advertising campaigns using a range of social media platforms, as well as experience of delivering world-class stewardship programmes for events. The ideal candidate will have empathy with the organisation’s aims and be comfortable working within a bereavement environment and talking to bereaved people.

The Team

IPS Grow is a national programme designed to support the expansion of Individual Placement and Support (IPS) services in mental health, primary care, and drug and alcohol teams across England.

The Role

This role sits within the IPS Grow Operational Support function and will play a key part in supporting the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Salesforce-based CRM system. You will work closely with colleagues across IPS Grow and Social Finance’s Data and Digital Community of Practice to ensure tools meet the needs of frontline teams and stakeholders.

About You
