We’re looking for an ambitious and strategic Head of Fundraising to lead the acceleration of Lift Schools’ comprehensive fundraising strategy and scale a proven fundraising income stream that supports our ambitious mission and long-term growth.

CAFOD has an ambition to be digital first in our marketing and communications, to stay ahead of emerging trends and make the most of what digital technology can offer to strengthen our relationships with our supporters and in our ways of working across the organisation. Digital technology has already transformed our communications and will continue to do so. This senior communications and marketing role will be responsible for steering the ongoing digital transformation of CAFODs work, primarily in the supporter programme and also across the wider organisation.
This role encompasses overall responsibility for the brand, digital marketing, messaging, proactive and reactive media relations, with a core focus on digital transformation across all platforms. This post will play a key role in guiding our digital shop fronts and marketing efforts, evolving supporter journeys, steering our email programme and leading on the digital infrastructure to enable delivery of our supporter programme. This role will drive innovation and data-informed insight across the full spectrum of communications and wider organisation functions. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development, direction setting and delivery of an ambitious, insight-led digital-first communications strategy that enhances supporter journeys, increases engagement and drives measurable growth in support of our supporter programme, especially our parishioner-first fundraising strategy.
- Act as CAFODs senior expert on communications, advising the Executive team, across departments and influencing strategic decision-making, including on digital direction and development, at the highest level.

Job Description
This is an exciting and varied role, and we are looking for a proactive post holder who will manage three key aspects of CARA’s service provision:
- Manage new referrals into our service, overseeing the work of our team of First Contact Navigators and our Information and Referrals Co-ordinator.
- Manage our counselling waiting lists and the allocation of clients to a counsellor, overseeing the work of our Allocations Team.
- Act as the main lead and point of contact for managing CARA’s client database and resolving any data queries.
This role will lead a talented and committed team of six, supporting their work and assisting them to develop their key roles. As well as overseeing day-to-day operations of the team, the post holder will be part of CARA’s management team and will have the opportunity to play a key role in CARA’s wider development, working closely with CARA’s Senior Leadership Team and Team Managers.
The First Contact Navigator project is a shared project with our sister centres, SERICC and SOS Rape Crisis, so the post holder will liaise closely with colleagues in those centres.
Main Responsibilities
Line management and team support
· To line manage CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators and Allocations Co-ordinators, providing day-to-day support, monitoring performance and identifying training and development needs. This will include keeping up to date notes of line management meetings and conducting and recording annual staff appraisals.
· To support CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators and Allocations Co-ordinators, working alongside them where necessary, and covering these roles during annual leave and other absences.
· To work with CARA’s Head of Operations to recruit and train new staff and volunteers, as required.
· To liaise with CARA’s other teams and more widely with Synergy East teams, resolving problems and ensuring good communication and mutual understanding of respective roles and ways of operating.

Service development
· To work with CARA’s Information and Referrals Co-ordinator, First Contact Navigators, Allocations Co-ordinators, Head of Operations, CEO, and our four team Managers to refine and develop CARA’s referrals and allocations processes.
· To oversee and update CARA’s counselling waiting lists, working with the Allocations Co-ordinators, and leading regular meetings to review waiting times, pushing forwards actions to reduce these wherever possible.
· To oversee and update the CARA map of service delivery ensuring we have an accurate picture of client sessions across our therapy teams.
· To develop expertise in our purpose-designed client database, ensuring the team are fully trained in its use and working with the Senior Leadership Team and Synergy Partners to ensure client data is kept up to date.
· Working with the CEO, Head of Operations and Information and Referrals Co-ordinator to represent CARA at meetings, making presentations about our work.
General
· To work flexible hours, including some evening work and occasional weekends.

Key role requirements
- This is a fully remote role.

About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious and experienced practitioner to join Become’s Care Advice Service. They will respond to enquiries to our independent national Care Advice Line (CAL), advising children and young people in and leaving care, and professionals and caregivers supporting them, so that young people understand and access their rights, are signposted to specialist support, and feel less alone as they navigate care. They will deliver workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands, advising care experienced young people and care leavers to understand their rights.
Location
We are currently hybrid working: our team primarily works from home with in-person attendance and meetings generally expected once or twice per month, usually at our central hot-desking location in Old Street, London. For non-London based staff we will consider hot-desking options near you, if required. This role will deliver regular in-person workshops and advice surgeries in the West Midlands. As such Become is unable to meet the cost of travel for this from other regions, or the accumulation of TOIL for travelling to or from the region. However, any travel required within the West Midlands region for work purposes and required travel to our London office will be reimbursed by Become, as London is not the specified location for this role. Contract and hours: Fixed term contract until 21st August 2026. Full time. We offer flexible hours with 9.30-4 as core hours. A full working week is 37.5 hours.
Duties and responsibilities
Safer recruitment for staff and volunteer tutors
- Responsible for ensuring staff and volunteer tutor safer recruitment records and related checks are up date and complete.
- Collecting references and ensuring they meet our standard requirements.
- Conducting ID calls for volunteer tutor DBS checks.
- Processing DBS checks and DBS update service checks.
Safeguarding
- Undertaking an initial triage of safeguarding concerns and incidents raised by members of the team and referring to senior staff as necessary.
- Maintaining and overseeing the tutor safeguarding refresher training using a dashboard
- Compiling safeguarding data into termly reports for the team and board.
HR
- Supporting the Head of People and Culture with recruitment processes. This will include preparing paperwork relating to the selection process and offers of employment and following up with applicants and the hiring manager to ensure both sides have a quality hiring experience.

Qualifications criteria:
- Experience in safer recruitment practice and working within relevant procedures and guidelines.
- Experience in HR administration.
- Right to work in the UK.
