In this role, you will be:
• Delivering talks to groups of sighted people about your lived experience of sight loss to challenge their perceptions and behaviours. Audiences will vary but may include local businesses, community, faith and voluntary groups.
• Making links with your own existing groups and networks in your local community that may want to be involved in reducing barriers to blind and partially sighted people.
• Building relationships with people or local businesses you know.
• Taking part in and sharing information about specific campaigns and initiatives to help remove barriers to blind and partially sighted people.
• Delivering talks on behalf of RNIB’s Social Action Team.

We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join our network of Sooty Box collectors. In this flexible role, you’ll help place new boxes and collect and bank donations from Sooty Boxes in local shops, cafés and other businesses in your area. We offer a lifelong befriending service for adults with learning disabilities. Matching the skills and interests of passionate visitors with the specific hobbies and interests of the people we visit. Visitors visit six times a year to create a 1-2-1 connection, offer companionship, encourage people to do the things they enjoy and check-in on their wellbeing. In many cases, the visitor is the only person in someone’s life who isn’t paid to be there for them.
We are looking for a patient and caring volunteer to visit a man in his early 60s who lives in a supported living home in central Coventry. He enjoys going to watch the football, woodwork and crafts, gentle walks, and watching sports and films.
Out and About Role
This is an Out and about visit role which means your visits are likely to be longer, very active and the person you visit will often take an active part in planning your outings and activities in the community. Your volunteer manager will be happy to help you with ideas and suggestions for things you can do. Visits will vary in length but tends to be around a couple of hours, sometimes shorter or longer, depending on what you plan to do.
In this role you will spend quality time with the person you visit and could do a range of different activities like:
- Sitting and having a chat
- Checking in on their well- being
- Going out to a local café/pub for a meal/drink
- Take part on community activities like visiting a place of interest, go shopping etc.

The Emergency Responder programme includes: - A knowledge workbook to work through at your own pace before the course, supported by members of your network, -16 hours of self-directed e-learning, done alongside the workbook and, - 48 hours of in-person training sessions spread over 6 days. Those with a Level 3 qualification or higher in First Responder on Scene (FROS) or First Responder Emergency Care (FREC) already will only have to complete 16 hours of in-person training sessions.

Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs) are at the heart of the cadet experience. As a CFAV, you will guide and support young people, lead or assist in training sessions, and help create a safe, supportive and rewarding environment. You can volunteer as a uniformed or non-uniformed instructor - no military experience is required, all training will be provided.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support, mentor and encourage cadets, helping them build confidence and life skills
- Assist with planning and delivering training sessions, including subjects such as; first aid, map reading and navigation, fieldcraft, drill and turnout, expedition and adventure training, leadership tasks and teamwork
- Participate in community events, remembrance parades, competitions and weekend activities and residential camps.
- Help with cadet development, assessments and progression as set out in the Army Cadet Syllabus.
- Promote safeguarding, inclusion and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with other volunteers and staff to deliver a varied and engaging programme

About the role

Time commitment and flexibility
This is a fully remote volunteering role, which we ideally hope can be completed within around three months. Can you help a visually impaired adult experience the joys and freedoms of cycling?
We’re looking for people to volunteer as front riders for our Two’s Company group rides!
About this role
As a volunteer front rider, you’ll assist our visually impaired back riders by piloting a tandem bicycle on cycle paths and the countryside around Bristol.
Many of the participants cannot ride a bike independently. Group tandem rides are a great way to connect with others while experiencing the countryside through its sounds, scents, and the exhilaration of cycling together.
The rides are very sociable, and we usually stop at a café or pub for lunch. If you enjoy meeting and chatting with new people, you’ll be a perfect fit!
About the rides
Each year we run rides between March and October, mostly at weekends, but with occasional weekdays or evening rides. The rides are pitched at different levels -gentle, intermediate, and advanced - to enable people of all abilities and fitness levels to participate. Front riders are matched to a different back rider every ride, and each ride has a trained group Ride Leader.
About you
To be a front rider, you should be a strong and experienced cyclist - but no prior tandem experience is required as training is provided. We also ask that you commit to a minimum of three rides a year.
To be a front rider, you should also fit the following criteria:
- Be 18+ years of age
- Be able to cycle long distances (20 – 30 miles)
- Be friendly, outgoing and a good communicator
- Treat visually impaired people on an equal, non-patronising basis
- Be at least 5’6” (168 cm), so you can comfortably pilot our tandems
- Be able to attend induction and training sessions - we do have some adaptability though, so please ask if you are struggling to meet the dates and times offered or have any other specific requirements.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) checks are required for our front riders whilst volunteering as part of supervised group rides.
To help you settle in as a front rider, we’ll provide the following training:
- Practical tandem training
- Visual impairment training
- Safeguarding training
- Disability training

Across the UK, our 60+ local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.
Our Case Officers are a vital part of our local branch activities. They use their organisational and IT skills, sometimes along with a knowledge of engineering, to make sure their branch is best able to support people.
What the role involves
This is a varied role that each branch tends to do a bit differently, but it will involve:
• Processing and allocating cases which have come to the branch
• You may have engineering experience or be a skilled craftsperson, but this is not essential
• Using our online referral portal to manage and update case notes
• Attending regular meetings of the local branch
We can support you to develop the skills you need for this role, and there’s an induction that covers all the areas above. You’ll also have chance to discuss your role and any additional needs with us.
