Job description

Join our award-winning Youth Empowerment team at the pioneering Cambridge House charity.

The Youth Empowerment Coordinator will provide long-term, holistic support to at-risk 16-21-year olds living in Southwark and surrounding boroughs.

Through the delivery of weekly group workshops, personal mentoring, liaising and referring to specialist services, providing employment and life skills support, and facilitating trips and events, the Youth Empowerment Coordinator will help young people to find out what they want in life, overcome barriers, and support them to achieve their goals.

You will need to be confident working one-to-one with young people as well as delivering group workshops and activities over a range of topics. Using your initiative, you will be able to engage participants, adapt to their individual support needs and nurture their development, health and wellbeing.

Strong organisational skills are required in this multifaceted role and the post-holder must be reliable and patient, with the ability to build trust and establish positive working relationships.

Working as part of a newly expanding team, your contribution will be pivotal to the ongoing evaluation and development of the project.

Our ideal candidate will have previous relevant experience (in a paid or voluntary capacity) and:

  • Be positive, enthusiastic and friendly
  • Be self-motivated
  • Share our commitment to our vision of a society without poverty where all people are valued, treated equally and lead fulfilling and productive lives

As an organisation we are particularly keen to ensure that our staff reflect the diverse nature of the community in which we work.

We value diversity and warmly welcome applications from disabled people, the LGBTQ+ communities and people from ethnic minority backgrounds.

We are a Disability Confident employer and will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by person specification.

To apply, email your CV and cover letter (see Recruitment Pack attached)
