An opportunity has arisen for a lead Support worker to work within our Sanctuary crisis intervention and prevention service, based in Fore Street in Enfield. We act as a short-term A&E and Emergency services alternative, providing support to individuals in the Enfield Borough aged 18+. 

This role is to provide leadership and support to the Sanctuary team on shift. The role will:

• Lead shifts during the week, providing support to team members via case management support, escalation, Health and Safety guidance
• Support the Sanctuary Manager to embed processes within the service, and ensure that these are carried out
• Work alongside the Manager and team to ensure that the service is operating to high quality standard.
• Provide support in times of emotional distress for clients. The support worker will provide a calm, supportive presence.

 The role will support clients through co-producing support plans with practical and therapeutic support offerings, as well as contributing to the development of a warm welcoming environment and ‘safe space’ to be.

This position would suit someone with a minimum of 2 years experience of working with people with mild, moderate and severe mental health issues.

The Sanctuary Service runs Monday - Friday, 5pm-10pm and at weekdays, 12-5pm. We would require the successful applicant to be able to work 4 shifts (21 hours per week) covering these days/times.

Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to join a busy, dynamic and engaging team working in Newham. Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community and move towards greater independence by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. Support Worker will give practical support to help people maintain their tenancy, stay well, exercise choice and control in their care and lives and participate in the community. Support is also provided to develop a model of re-enablement towards self-advocacy, self-management and empowerment, incorporating the principles and practice of recovery, co-production and peer support.

The service includes four sites and form a mini pathway of higher, medium and move on support accommodation.

The shift pattern for this role consists of three shift timings at: 9.00 - 17.00, 12.00 - 20.00 and 14.00 - 22.00. This includes weekends and bank holidays.

- Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Senior Support Worker/Team Leader/ Contract Manager. Creatively working to engage with customers.
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions. Promote positive risk taking.
- Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers.
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities.
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
- Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards.
- Proactive development of links with local statutory and voluntary organisations to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community.

Age UK Kensington & Chelsea offers dementia services which make a real difference to residents affected by the condition living in the Borough. Your new role

To provide clerical and administrative support to the staff in a busy and expanding office. To work as one of the team of Support Assistants within the Service, in the provision of an effective, efficient and responsive service.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out reception duties and act as 'first point of contact' for visitors to the office.

• Input data into internal and external database systems and carry out general internal database maintenance, e.g. modifying tables, queries and reports.
• Maintain and update electronic and paper-based filing and record systems, including the equipment inventory. Assist with the archiving of items, and deal with confidential documents appropriately.
• Under the direction of Official Veterinarians or Officers, record Products of Animal Origin and other imported food consignments on the computerised cargo handling system and port manifesting systems.
• Under the direction of Official Veterinarians or Officers, they undertake the initial documentary check for third country consignments of products of animal origin in accordance with ISO procedures and ensure that documents for charging purposes are sent to the Finance Section on a daily basis.

Barbara Ansell National Network for Adolescent Rheumatology (BANNAR) started in 2013 and has been nested within Versus Arthritis since 2020. BANNAR are a group of professionals from medical, nursing, allied health and third sector backgrounds working in adolescent and young adult (AYA) rheumatology. The network aims to promote best practice and develop research in this area by working with professionals and supporting the National Youth Advisory Panel, Your Rheum.

At Versus Arthritis our mission is to ensure everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose with a real hope of a cure in the future. In our new strategy, the impact of arthritis across the life course is identified as a cross cutting theme and this role will help deliver our mission for adolescents and young people.

You will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people with long term conditions, be skilled at working with a range of stakeholders and have strong administration skills. You will work closely with the BANNAR leadership team and BANNAR members but the role will sit in the Health Development team at Versus Arthritis. You will also work closely with our Research and Young People and Families Service teams.

About the role

The BANNAR Project Support Officer will support the BANNAR Leadership team and BANNAR members to maintain a valuable professional network. You will do this by producing a programme of communications and events tailored to the network’s needs and promoting the network to new members via effective networking. You will play a key role in maximising the impact of BANNAR’s work in adolescent and young adult rheumatology by supporting Your Rheum activities, monitoring and reporting the achievements of the network, and supporting joint working with teams across Versus Arthritis and beyond. You will also play a role supporting wider engagement events and activities for healthcare professionals on behalf of Versus Arthritis.

About you

Support Worker - Housing and Homelessness (Sanctuary Emergency Accommodation) 

Salary: £24,745 per annum

Full-time: Full-time (40 hours per week) with a 30 min paid lunch break. This includes a weekend shift. You will also be rostered to work on bank holidays.

Our client’s Emergency Accommodation offers short-term accommodation (23 bedrooms), as well as support, meals, and laundry facilities. Staff work with other services to provide a tailored package for each person while helping them towards moving into longer-term accommodation.

They are currently looking for two Support Workers. 

What sort of person are they looking for? A person who has a desire to help people who are experiencing homelessness. You may already have knowledge and understanding of homelessness, maybe through a previous job, as a volunteer, or through your own lived experience. You will be the sort of person who sees people experiencing rough sleeping, sofa surfing eviction or living in temporary accommodation as a person, not just as ‘rough sleepers’ or ‘service users’. 

You will be self-aware, compassionate, non-judgemental, and have a strong degree of emotional intelligence. You will have excellent skills in communication, prioritisation, and administration and be open to gaining new insight and understanding. 

You will be motivated to find solutions for service users, and you are key working through partnership work internally and externally. You have the ability to manage complex behaviours and to support service users who may be in difficult situations. You will be a team player who supports colleagues and helps the team to offer the best possible service.

Overall Purpose

• To provide support and care to the young people who are newly arrived in the country, providing the foundations for them to rebuild their lives with dignity, strengthen their resilience and inspire hope for their futures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• To be a Support Worker for newly arrived young people who are in the care of Baca in all areas of the young person’s life, supporting them from first arrival through to their move to semi-independence.
• To welcome new arrivals into the accommodation and communicate basic information about the house, making them feel safe and able to rest; with compassion without discrimination of age, race, colour or behavioural issues.
• To enable young people to achieve the following outcomes increased physical wellbeing, increased emotional wellbeing, improved personal safety, increased social engagement and increased engagement with education, employment and training.
• To enable young people to live with positive values and good boundaries.
• To be a proactive role model for the young people, enabling them to learn day to day living skills and helping them integrate positively with the local community.
• Training young people in living skills such as washing, cleaning, cooking and safety, food shopping and budgeting; proactively and intentionally in line with the Baca independent living preparation plan.
• Helping young people settle into a routine which will include education and social activities.
• Work in close partnership with social workers and other professionals and volunteers to provide a holistic development package for each young person enabling them to become independent.
• Maintaining very good communication with relevant members of the Rebuild Team and relevant social workers through regular appropriate reporting.
• To work collaboratively with the rest of the Rebuild Team to ensure all young people are safeguarded and supported to rebuild their lives.
• Complete and update all admin work as part of the role such as month end reports and support plans on time and in a consistent manner.
• Playing an active role in developing knowledge and understanding in areas relevant to the role and especially in the areas of asylum and refugee law, trafficking, supporting separated children and the cultures of different nations relevant to Baca.

Community Advice Works is an established community charity based in New Cross in South
East London. As the only charity in the London Borough of Lewisham offering a general
drop-in advice service, we are a critical source of support to vulnerable residents. We have
built a strong reputation within the Borough for providing high quality, independent, person-

Key duties

• Staff and volunteer management

£13.15 per hour, on a zero hour contract.

Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.
