The Opportunity

This role at WFN provides an exciting opportunity to lead on the development of our growing Winner Network Development (WND) programme, identified as one of the charity’s key areas for strategic growth and maximised impact over the coming years. We are looking for an enthusiastic and outgoing communicator who is passionate about conservation and can drive forward and create connections between our global network of over 220 conservationists, fostering knowledge exchange, capacity development and collaboration. As part of this programme the Grants and Network Manager (GNM) will help with delivery of annual thematic training workshops, with opportunity for international travel. The GNM will also assist our Head of Grants (HG) in monitoring our portfolio of active grants, with support from the Grants Assistant (GA). The GNM will also participate in the Whitley Awards application process by helping to screen the grant applications and supporting with due diligence. If you have a conservation background, and experience with capacity development programmes, proactively managing growing networks, and monitoring active grants, then this is the role for you.

GRANTS AND NETWORK MANAGER - PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential:

· MSc or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Conservation/ Zoology/ Environmental Science)

· Experience cultivating and managing networks of people, with a proven track record of successful engagement and network growth

· Requisite experience in managing a portfolio of active grants within the environmental NGO sector including ongoing monitoring and evaluation

· Past experience with capacity development initiatives and/or facilitating trainings and events, including organising logistics

· Demonstrable understanding of grassroots conservation projects, issues, and solutions

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels (interface with team members, trustees, international grantees, donors, external assessors, suppliers)

Just Like Us (JLU) is the UK’s LGBT+ young people’s charity, empowering 18–25-year-olds to share their experiences in schools and improve LGBT+ inclusion through peer-led talks and ambassador programmes. 

This joint role represents an exciting partnership between two organisations committed to racial justice, LGBTQ+ inclusion and systemic transformation. 

1. Just Like Us (3.5 days/week): To support the delivery of Just Like Us’ Ambassador and School Talks programmes – including recruitment, training and coordination of young LGBT+ volunteers and engaging with schools to foster inclusive environments. 

2.  Black Queer & Thriving: There is potential for this role to expand in scope (up to 1.5 additional days per week), subject to funding. Should this occur, the role may include additional responsibilities in line with the aims of the Black LGBTQ+ Working Group and Southwark engagement priorities. Duties and Responsibilities 

Just Like Us (3.5 days/week) 

- Support the delivery of the Ambassador Programme, including recruitment, training and retention of LGBT+ volunteers aged 18–25. 

- Coordinate and run community events for Black LGBT+ young people to support outreach and recruitment of volunteers. 

- Represent Just Like Us at events such as conferences and prides to amplify our programmes to a range of audiences. 

- Support Just Like Us volunteer recruitment drives by building relationships with university societies and volunteering services, community partners and charity partners in London and the South East. 

- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of LGBT+ mentors. 

- Attend relevant cross-team meetings with the Just Like Us team such as the fortnightly Ambassador Recruitment meeting 

- Support with the quality assurance of school talks through observations and slide checks. 

- Assist the volunteering team with the coordination and delivery of ambassador skills workshops where needed. 

- Work with the project evaluation consultant to assist with the running of focus groups.

Respect is seeking one Helpline Advisor to provide support to male victims of domestic abuse on the Men’s Advice Line and perpetrators of domestic abuse on the Respect Phoneline.

You will support service users by phone, email and webchat, providing emotional support, practical advice, information on the available options, and signposting to other services. As well as work with male victims and perpetrators of domestic abuse in ways that support them to increase safety and reduce harm, as described in the Models of Work and relevant policies and procedures.

The Church of England is continually striving to improve its safeguarding practices. The 2020 report by IICSA on the Church highlighted failures in respect of child sexual abuse and, more broadly, the challenges facing the Church to get safeguarding right.

The Church's aspiration is that safeguarding is not experienced and approached as a matter of administrative compliance. Rather, it should be what the Church is - something that flows from its core beliefs and values, part of its DNA.

The Church has made important and positive strides over recent years. There is, however, still much to be done to keep children and vulnerable adults safe, and to promote their well-being. The Church is a complex collection of different bodies. Most of the safeguarding work is carried out locally within the 42 dioceses and cathedrals in England. This work is supported centrally by a National Safeguarding Team (NST).

What you'll be doing

The Church of England seeks a committed and collaborative Safeguarding Policy Officer to join the National Safeguarding Team. This role is central to developing, revising, and implementing national safeguarding policies that protect and support all members of the Church community.

Working closely with Safeguarding Policy and Development Leads, you'll ensure policies are grounded in academic research, aligned with legislation and canon law, and informed by survivor experiences and Church-wide learning.

In this role, you will:

• Co-manage the development and roll-out of safeguarding policies, codes of practice and guidance
• Collaborate with stakeholders, including survivors, bishops, Diocesan Safeguarding Officers, and Church bodies
• Ensure policy relevance across dioceses, parishes, cathedrals, religious communities, and theological institutions
• Lead the coordination and improvement of the safeguarding e-manual
• Engage with NCIs departments to embed safeguarding policy into wider initiatives
• Support the NST's learning and review cycle to refine policies over time

Churchfield and Cherington provide supported housing for people facing addiction and homelessness. Churchfield accommodates 12 residents and offers 24/7 temporary support for those in active addiction, while Cherington accommodates 5 residents helps abstinent residents rebuild their lives and rejoin the community. The service is across 4 floors, so applicants must be able to use stairs for welfare and room checks. Please note: the exact address is withheld due to the nature of the service, but it's based in the Ealing/Hanwell area. You’ll help ensure the service meets all contract and regulatory compliance, supporting the Head of Service with monitoring and development.

Role Description

BASIC is seeking a motivated and dynamic Project Manager (Policy Fellow) to lead BASIC’s deliverables within our joint project with the Federation of the American Scientists (FAS): ‘From the Noise, the Signal’. 

The project investigates how emerging and disruptive technologies (EDTs) pose credible threats and disrupt traditional assumptions regarding relative military advantages and disadvantages. One such assumption is the traditional dominance of hiders over seekers in the military domain which appears to be increasingly challenged by a package of EDTs. These technologies operate across military domains, including: outer space and the upper atmosphere, air, ground, sea surface, undersea, and cyber. Research has, however, not yet fully assessed EDTs collective impacts on hider-seeker dynamics, at a time where technologies are advancing faster than policy.

This joint FAS-BASIC project addresses this gap in both the research literature and policy discourse through collaboration with an interdisciplinary community of scientific, technical, and OSINT experts, to build a higher-resolution picture of the technological readiness according to the open-source.

This high-impact role offers the opportunity to deliver the research and manage the part of the project that covers sea-based dimensions. The second phase will bring the project’s sea- and land-based dimensions together, and assess the overall strategic implications of these technological advances for nuclear stability.

The Project Manager is expected to have a solid understanding of global security, nuclear nuclear issues, and expertise in EDTs and nuclear weapons issues demonstrated through a record of relevant (policy) research. The successful candidate will have experience with convening and leading high level dialogues  and experience with project delivery. 

The successful candidate will manage and lead the project’s delivery across several outputs, working closely with FAS partners.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

1. Project Delivery

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to: 

• Deliver high quality desk-based research. 

• Manage the project’s critical path and risk register, implementing mitigation plans as required.

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting requirements.

• Write high-quality, policy-relevant research reports, op-eds and briefings.

• Organise international roundtables, workshops and other events with track 1 and 2 participants.

• Manage relationships with stakeholders and build BASIC’s network and reputation.

• Independently represent BASIC at international meetings.

2. Fundraising

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Develop a project, by independently and confidently scoping funding opportunities.

• Liaise with the Programme Manager on funding priorities and opportunities.

• Manage projects with minimal day-to-day manager input.

• Develop new and existing relationships with funders.

• Write and edit funding applications.

3. Communications

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders including international partners to build strong relationships.

• Facilitate dialogue and cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

• Promote our / their work confidently and internationally. 

• Confidently use online social media platforms, and if possible, press contacts.

4. Office support

Applicants will need to be able to support the running of the organisation and colleagues with a range of administrative tasks wherever required.

Essential:  Educated to Master’s level – or demonstrate the equivalent in work experience

Essential:  7+ years of work experience in a think tank, research institute, NGO, foundation or government working on international security issues.

Essential:  Familiarity with issues relating to strategic stability and emerging and disruptive technologies is essential.

About the Role

This role requires using your initiative and proactive attitude than reactive.

You will also be working with women who are in trauma and can be in crisis requiring you to be empathetic but aspirational. You will provide advice and support to women who have experienced domestic abuse in a refuge setting, across the three sites.  You will carry out risk and needs assessments, develop support plans and carry out key work with women survivors. You will be expected to work in one of the three Refuges as part of your role

Some of the tasks you will be required.

• Support – Induction, Risk Assessments, Domestic Abuse, Mental Health, Benefits, Debt Advice, Move On, maintain accurate recording on Solace case management system and ensure regular reviews are carried out.
• Frontline delivery of support directly to service users
• Repairs Identification/reporting/meeting contractors
• Void inspections, basic void works – i.e. clean/clear, furniture, welcome packs 
• Service Users Arrears & HB Claims and benefits - Identify arrears of concern & raise to Service Manager
• Helping service users understand housing benefits/welfare benefits available to them 
• Initial Safeguarding Reports 
• Deliver Clear Outcomes – contractual deliverables or Solace standards 
• Multi agency working involved with Service Users
• Support service user to access other community services 
• ED&I Awareness-needs for SU’s including organising EDI activities.
• Promoting SU involvement activities.

About You

The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of domestic abuse and its impact on women and their children, as well as experience of providing emotional and practical support to victims of domestic and sexual violence.  An in depth understanding of the needs of women and children from a diverse background is essential. 

• You will have experience of managing risk and following case management procedures to meet the needs of the client group, and the ability to work with women to help them to understand their needs, risk assess, develop safety plan and support them in linking with other agencies.
• You should have an understanding of the homelessness process, either professionally or personally. 
• You will have a working knowledge of the available legal remedies, housing and welfare benefits, as well as experience of providing workshops.

Outside of this, you will have excellent administrative and time management skills and the ability to effectively manage a caseload.
