This role sits within the South of England Team and you will be expected to work with local partnerships and to travel within the country. As a UK Practice Development Adviser you will work together with Partnership Leads on the key priorities agreed in our local partnerships and country strategies. With the support of a Senor Practice Development Manager you will play a key role in shaping local and national practice. You will identify opportunities for innovation and change (including systems change), adaptation, or improvement. Working with partner organisations, you will generate the learning and evidence required to fulfil the national change strategy, and influence practice at a national level.
In addition you will:
- Support and facilitate innovation and practice development, assisting work with external partners and other members of the UK team
- Engage with children and families in the joint development of this work ensuring that it promotes and reflects their voices and experiences
- Support and deliver training for early years professionals
- Ensure work is delivered in line with agreed quality standards
To be successful you will be a strong team player, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and an in-depth knowledge of the practice development, innovation and systems change approaches. A creative and flexible worker, you will have experience of working with families and supporting them to share their experiences. You will have knowledge of co-design, co-production and participation methodologies and experience of co-developing approaches with practitioners and other stakeholders. Additionally, you will have:
- Understanding and experience of innovation and practice development skills, tools and techniques
- Experience of the implementation of projects to develop and test new practice approaches
- Experience in engaging children and families
- Experience of supporting monitoring and evaluation activity
- Understanding of the impact of poverty on children, families and neighbourhoods and the barriers that communities face in seeking to bring about positive change
- The ability to travel occasionally within the UK, including some overnight stays.

As a Policy and Practice Impact Adviser you will build and maintain expert knowledge on the evidence, practice and policy landscape around early learning and child poverty in the South of England. You’ll work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams with internal colleagues and external partners to develop change strategies which will help to overcome the barriers that result in the Early Years gap for children living in poverty in England. Examples of your responsibilities include
- Developing, managing and delivering advocacy strategies among officials, practitioners, charities, think tanks and research organisations
- Building and maintaining excellent external relationships in the policy and practice community, in order to gather intelligence and influence policy and practice change
- Working in partnership with children and families experiencing poverty to develop research proposals and reports, policy and practice solutions and influencing strategies.
To be successful you will be a strong team player, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of the evidence, practice and policy landscape surrounding early learning and child poverty in England. A creative and flexible worker, you will have experience of working with families to develop research plans, proposals and strategies, alongside experience of working effectively with partner organisations to influence practice at a local or national level. Additionally, you will have:
- Experience of analysing policy and practice challenges and developing creative, credible solutions
- Considerable proven skills in producing high-quality literature, policy and practice reviews
- Experience of developing and managing research, policy or practice projects to strict deadlines

The UK Evidence and Learning team generates evidence that enables us to secure changes to policy and practice, in every nation of the United Kingdom. Through our work, we demonstrate what is effective in improving lives for children and families; we collect evidence directly from children and families to help us understand how current practice affects their lives; we develop and test promising, sustainable interventions in communities; and we gather and synthesise evidence from local partners, organisations in our sector, and academia. As a Senior Evidence and Learning Adviser, you will:
- Develop strategies for generating evidence and learning, especially focussing on qualitative research, participatory practice and other open research and intelligence gathering approaches.
- Undertake primary research and evaluation, analysis and evidence syntheses.
- Support teams to implement evidence strategies, building their capacity and confidence to support evidence and learning practice and ensuring that the approaches put in place are rigorous and practical.
- Support teams in developing and using theories of change and outcomes frameworks.
- Capture and disseminate our data and learning.
To be successful you will:
- Hold expertise in evaluation and evidence generation across a wide range of methods, although we are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with a strong technical background leading qualitative, ethnographic, innovation and participatory research practice.
- Have experience of and be confident in undertaking evaluation and research with both children and families and with marginalised groups.
- Hold expertise in learning and improvement methodologies and have experience of using data and evidence for improvement.
- Hold strong analytical skills, be able to interpret complex data and make it meaningful to others.
- Be adept at developing relationships and working with a wide range of individuals, teams and in different policy and practice contexts.
- Be a confident and experienced user of data analysis software, such as Nvivo or Atlas.ti

We are user-led and have a membership of 1,500 disabled people and carers. We raise awareness of disability and influence change. Generalist Adviser – Covid-19 Financial Shield Project
When the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and other Covid-19 related protections for households eventually come to an end, there is expected to be a significant rise in financial difficulties and debt problems, especially amongst already vulnerable people and people with long term health conditions.
To help address this Citizens Advice Southwark is working with the local Primary Care Networks to create a healthcare pathway allowing general practice to identify local residents that would benefit from pro-active and targeted money advice and financial support.
To deliver this exciting new project we are looking for 2 FTE generalist advisers who will be based at our offices and at GP surgeries in Bermondsey and Peckham and will work closely with Social Prescribing Link Workers employed by South and North Southwark Primary Care Networks.
To undertake this role you will need:
- At least six months recent experience of providing Generalist Advice to the public including casework in welfare rights, housing and debt.
- Proven ability to interview clients using sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of issues and empower clients in a non-judgmental way.
- An understanding of the financial challenges facing citizens, especially as a result of COVID.
- Ability to commit to and work within the aims and principles of Citizens Advice Southwark.
An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.

About the role
Changing Futures is a new programme to be delivered across a number of London boroughs, supporting young disabled people, aged 18-24, into employment. The Employment Advisor role will identify referral partners, such as schools and colleges, and will work directly with the young disabled people referred to improve their employability, progressing them into work placements, further training and ultimately paid work. The role will also work alongside our Training & Consultancy team to engage employers and support them to create more inclusive workplaces.
About you
You will have experience of working with young disabled people in an employment setting and delivering employability support, including supporting people into employment, work experience and volunteering opportunities. You will also be able to demonstrate experience of working with a range of employers and supporting them to recruit disabled people and become more inclusive in their recruitment and support for disabled people.
You will have a clear commitment to the aims of the programme and the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire.

Our client works to prevent and tackle youth and family homelessness.
The Centre prides itself on its welcome and person centred approach. It recognises each individual is different, often with complex needs and so their response must be multi-layered. They therefore have six principal services: residential services for homeless young people; family support; housing and welfare rights advice; employment support; learning; and immigration advice and advocacy.
They are based within five minutes’ walk from Parliament but it is also in the borough with the highest level of rough sleeping in the Country and the highest proportion of households living in temporary homes. With an annual income in the region of £2.9 million, the Centre currently employs around 60 members of staff. We also benefit from a loyal supporter base and the generous contribution of around 100 volunteers.
Employment Advisor Responsibilities:
To work effectively as a member of the Centre staff team and within the Employment & Learning Services, to progress a caseload of clients on their journey into meaningful and sustainable employment.
Demonstrate and apply knowledge of the impact of unemployment and recommend ways in which clients might obtain and retain work. Build rapport with a range of clients, including those who are hard to engage due to motivational issues or that have complex barriers to employment (e.g. homelessness, substance misuse, disabilities, health conditions, or long-term unemployment).
Preserve strong working relationships with local Jobcentre Plus teams. Manage relationships with employers and create effective relationships with the local business community, public, community and voluntary sector organisations in order to secure work placements and employment opportunities or to signpost clients to other services. You’ll keep accurate partnership contact records and where appropriate implement service level agreements with support from line manager.
Ensure timely capture of client activity and achievement on the Centre database in line with organisational performance management processes as well as providing monthly performance information for management reporting.
Provide line-management supervision and support to the service’s volunteer team in line with agreed staff : volunteer ratios – acting as ‘lead practitioner’ to role model best practice and working in liaison with the assigned Volunteer Coordinator. Maximise engagement and participation of volunteer team through individual/group volunteer supervision meetings and quarterly forums for sharing good practice, problem solving
Assess ongoing risk in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all clients and staff, sharing risk information where appropriate in line with both Centre policies and legal framework; to record risk data accurately on Centre database. You’ll also promote a safe working environment for fellow workers, clients and visitors in line with the HASAW Act, and our Health & Safety policy, reporting hazards, concerns or ideas for improvement
Employment Advisor Requirements:
ESSENTIAL:
• Experience of providing careers/employment support, advice and guidance to clients who are either unemployed or in low paid, part time employment, vulnerable or possessing complex barriers to work.
• Experience of identifying potential partnerships and working with external agencies/employers; mixing comfortably with corporate and business contacts.
• Knowledge of the UK welfare benefits system and employee rights in the workplace with the ability to champion employment equality and diversity.
• Exceptional planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work flexibly, solve problems and manage a varied and changing workload.
• Strong administrative skills and attention to detail with the ability to keep accurate and high quality notes, reports and records.
• High level of computer literacy including applied knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and using electronic databases and diaries.

This is a new important advisory role, which will help to support delivery of the Enforcement Division's objectives. The Senior Audit Advisor will help to ensure that investigations and enforcement action are conducted efficiently, effectively and to the highest standard.
The Senior Audit Advisor will provide audit expertise to support the Enforcement Division's casework and case strategy in complex and often high-profile investigations under the Audit Enforcement Procedure. The role will involve advising across a portfolio of investigations and enforcement proceedings handled by multi-disciplinary teams of forensic accountants, lawyers, and legal assistants.
Many of the investigations are large, complex, and high-profile and our cases regularly require liaison with other investigators including the Serious Fraud Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, the Insolvency Service, and the Pensions Regulator.
The role includes:
- Assisting in identifying issues of potential non-compliance with the regulatory framework, including Auditing, Ethical and Quality Control Standards and Audit Regulations
- Assisting investigation case teams to determine key focus areas at the commencement of an investigation
- Liaising with forensic accountants and lawyers during the investigation and advising on any change in focus or additional lines of enquiry
- Reviewing sections of complex audit files and aspects of firm-wide policies and procedures as necessary
- Drafting reports/advisory memoranda for case teams or external advisors as required to explain complex accounting or auditing issues

The Person:
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with substantial experience at director level or above in the audit of listed and other public interest entities.
