A new role has opened up in the Mission Education team as the Pioneer Hub Facilitator for the South Central Region Training Partnership (SCRTP).
In 2011 the SCRTP working with CMS developed a Pioneer Hub, focused around a Pioneer Hub Facilitator role based with Church Mission Society. This role has significantly contributed to the development of pioneer ministry in the South Central Region and has grown a network of pioneers throughout the South of England.
To date the role of the Pioneer Hub Facilitator has largely focussed on working with pioneers themselves but has also raised awareness and understanding of pioneer ministry across the region and enabled collaboration and the sharing of good practice. When the role began very few partner churches and dioceses had developed approaches to working with and supporting pioneers. This situation has gradually changed and is continuing to change with encouraging new strategic developments. The Region now has a flourishing pioneer hub and this role will be able to continue to develop that. But the focus will shift to also include supporting developments at the strategic level through offering a consultative type of support and through enabling collaboration and the sharing of wisdom across partner churches and dioceses. The role will continue to be based at CMS.
The Pioneer Hub Facilitator is a fixed-term (18 months), part-time (14 hours per week), role with a starting salary of £12,522 per annum (£31,305 full-time equivalent), and a generous pension scheme contribution. The role can be home-based/flexible.
This is a varied role; as such the post holder will need to be flexible and practical in their approach. The key aspects of this role include networking and support of current pioneers; learning and training, including identifying training and development needs; and engagement and advocacy in pioneer ministry with dioceses and individuals.
It is essential that the successful candidate be educated to degree level or equivalent in practical theology or missiology, and experience of pioneering, networking, and training. The ability to contribute to theological thinking and policy formation is crucial, as is a solid understanding of the Church of England, Methodist, and United Reformed Church. It is also a requirement for this post holder to be committed to the aims and values of CMS, which are detailed on the CMS website. The post is subject to safeguarding checks.
Further details can be found in the job description and person specification available to download.
Closing date for receipt of completed applications:
Midnight on Monday 17 May 2021
Interviews will be held on Friday 11 June 2021 at CMS house Oxford or by Zoom depending on the government’s guidelines.
