Our Challenge Events team has seen a massive increase in fundraiser numbers this year. We’re hiring to unlock the full potential of this incredible community. Reporting into the Challenge Events Manager, you’ll boost our ability to grow our portfolio of events and connect personally with the incredible people who support CALM on a day to day basis.
The reasons people fundraise for CALM can be deeply personal. They might have lost someone to suicide, used our helpline for themselves or someone they know, or they might want to support a lifesaving service. By understanding what drives them, you’ll shape and deliver event experiences that feel meaningful and memorable, strengthen their connection to CALM, and inspire them to keep coming back for more.
Responsibilities
Support on delivery of the Challenge Events portfolio, ensuring Challenge Event Fundraisers are staying on track - such as completing registration forms on time, and setting up fundraising pages
Provide end-to-end operational support for fundraising events, including liaising with venues, partners and suppliers, obtaining quotes, coordinating travel and logistics, working with production teams, preparing materials, producing risk assessments, and creation of event documentation such as briefs, schedules and post-event evaluations
Represent CALM at Events, including acting as an Event Day Lead, and attending wider CALM events
Work with the Challenge Events Manager and Event Fundraising Lead to develop our portfolio of events, contributing ideas, analysing performance, identifying opportunities and putting ideas into action
Steward CALM’s Challenge Event Fundraisers effectively throughout their journey when supporting CALM, to ensure they feel appreciated and inspired to fundraise for us
Be the friendly voice of CALM, responding to enquiries through the website or phone in a timely manner
Proactively craft and send personalised emails to fundraisers to drive retention and satisfaction
Help with the management and optimisation of Event email automated journeys used to steward participants in the lead up to and after their event
Help to devise and manage our event marketing strategy
Deliver stewardship calls to Event Fundraisers - welcoming them to the team after sign up, wishing them good luck before their event, or offering them fundraising guidance and support
Work confidently across key income platforms to ensure accurate setup, coding and reporting of fundraising pages, campaigns and donations, including JustGiving and Enthuse.
Support on the maintenance of relevant pages on the CALM website
Analyse feedback from fundraisers via our post event surveys and identify areas for improvement
Engage with Fundraisers on our CALM Facebook groups - sparking conversation and fostering a supportive community atmosphere
Recruit and manage volunteers to support at events
Work with the wider organisation to improve processes and data management
Support in other areas of Public Fundraising as required, including community fundraising and individual giving.

What the job involves
As Business Development Manager (Health), you’ll direct identifying and securing high-value partnerships within the health and pharmaceutical sectors, helping to generate meaningful income and impact. This is a hands-on role where you’ll use your sector knowledge and commercial insight to build and manage a targeted pipeline, developing tailored, high-value propositions and leading opportunities from initial engagement through to agreement.
Working closely with colleagues across Fundraising, Research, Health Services, Equity and Improvement (HSEI) and the Leadership Team, you’ll turn existing relationships and networks into strong, value-aligned partnerships. What we want from you
We’re looking for a Business Development Manager who brings both commercial insight and a genuine passion for making a difference in the health space. You’ll have built your career in business development, sales or high-value fundraising, ideally within health or pharmaceutical settings, and will be able to point to examples where you’ve successfully secured significant partnerships or commercial agreements.
You’ll be comfortable shaping compelling, high-value funding propositions that resonate with partners, and you’ll have a strong understanding of how the health sector works in practice, including decision-making processes and the wider regulatory landscape. About the role:

About the team
The Income Generation Directorate at Shelter comprises of 5 departments, delivering a mature fundraising programme that has seen continuous year on year diversity and growth. The directorate generates over £48m gross income each year, of which a high percentage is unrestricted. Our Corporate Partnerships team is split into two areas - New Partnerships which generates income by securing new relationships with private sector businesses, and the Partnership Management team, where this role sits, is responsible for the growth of Shelter’s voluntary income by managing and developing existing corporate partnerships spanning a variety of sectors. And, as the division as a whole continues to grow and develop, it's a truly exciting time to join us.
About the role
This is an essential and valued role within the Partnership Management team, as you will help design and deliver impactful partnerships to generate income to fund our vital work in response to the national housing emergency. You will lead on the employee fundraising and engagement activities across our valued corporate partnerships that include B&Q, IKEA, HSBC UK and M&S. You will also lead on the success and development of a dedicated portfolio of partners, delivering colleague and customer facing fundraising and commercial campaigns to a high quality. You will utilise your proactive nature and creative skills to deliver new and innovative partnership activities that deliver against team targets and will be responsible for developing clear and efficient partnership plans to achieve these agreed goals. You will also be responsible for monthly reporting on income from your partners, updating our supporter database, and supporting the team in their activities, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are kept.

Community Organising

Purpose
At Citizens UK, our organisers and project staff work within communities to develop leaders, strengthen organisations, campaign for change and organise across difference. There are various project roles and operational, communication, finance and HR roles that support the organisation and project staff and organisers to deliver on this mission and work. Main Responsibilities
A Senior Organiser is mastering the craft of community organising and taking increasing responsibility for developing major campaigns, managing budgets and managing staff. They operate with a high degree of independence and are significant contributors to CUK-wide functions such as training. Senior Organisers model the broad-based community organising methodology in their work including the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
You will bring communities together to drive change both locally, regionally, and nationally. This role will work closely with local civic institutions, such as churches, mosques, schools, universities, unions and other community groups to:
develop the leadership of people within those organisations - our 'leaders' who lead the campaigns we work on
help them identify the changes they want to see and create strategies to win those changes
strengthen institutions’ own abilities to achieve their missions.
This includes listening to members of the community to find common issues, engaging local decision-makers through meetings, and planning in-person ‘actions’, where you might hold those in power to account. All of this work is underpinned by the knowledge that everyday people have the ability to shape the world around them. This work will be rooted locally, but you will be a part of a bigger national drive to make change alongside diverse local alliances across the UK. In Essex, the work is currently focusing on the first Mayoral Election for the County but you will also work on other campaign priorities that are developed through the institutions you work with.
Working as a Senior Organiser for Citizens UK, reporting to Sebastien Chapleau, Regional Supervisor for the South of England and Wales, your main responsibilities will include:

Our Organisers and some project teams work closely with our member institutions and will be expected to attend member events that take place in the evenings and occasional weekends. We operate a Time Off in Lieu approach and have very flexible working arrangements to ensure a good work-life balance.

As a key member of the Trusts & Grants team, The Trusts & Grants Fundraiser will work closely with the Trusts & Grants Manager to raise funds from a portfolio of charitable trusts in accordance with Child Bereavement UK’s budgets and targets.

With nationally recognised, award-winning partnerships as our platform, matched with a record-high brand sentiment rating, a highly prominent cause and a marketplace looking for long-term strategic partnerships, we are building the team infrastructure to maximise our strong position through the launch of two developed functions – Account Development and Business Development.
What the job involves
This is a key role focused on delivering, growing and developing some of our most important and high-profile partnerships. You’ll take ownership of a portfolio of major partners, building on strong existing relationships and turning them into long-term, strategic collaborations that deliver real impact and sustained income.
Working within our Account Development team, you’ll look beyond day-to-day delivery to unlock new opportunities. You’ll spot where partnerships can grow, whether that’s through extending existing activity, opening up new areas of collaboration or bringing fresh ideas that add value for both sides. A big part of the role is building trusted, senior-level relationships and using those connections to deepen engagement and create further opportunities.

What we want from you

Building strong relationships will come naturally to you. You’ll be comfortable engaging and influencing senior stakeholders, bringing credibility, clarity and confidence to your conversations. How and where we work
