Overview of the role

Our Development Manager will play a key role in supporting ThinkForward to achieve ambitious growth targets and deliver on our mission to support young people facing challenges to build a brighter, better future.

You will work flexibly across all income streams to identify and convert high-value funding opportunities from trusts and foundations, corporate partners and high-net-worth individuals, as well as supporting excellent stewardship for our existing funders. You will bring technical excellence in relation to the highest standard of compelling application and report writing, and you will develop strong relationships internally to facilitate a collaborative approach to income generation. Ideally, you will also bring expertise in at least one of ThinkForward’s identified income streams. The Development Manager will be comfortable working with healthy pressure within a supportive and collaborative team culture and will be able to maintain a high level of productivity, pace and resilience in what is a challenging funding environment.

It’s an exciting time to join War Child as they have just launched their new Alliance initiative. The War Child Alliance brings together the five War Child fundraising members (in the Netherlands, UK, Germany and Sweden, plus Children in Conflict in the US), with 14 programme members, based in and around conflict-affected areas across the world and coordinated by a new international body: the War Child Alliance Foundation. Through the Alliance they are integrating programme activities under one umbrella – allowing War Child to combine strengths and pool resources – all with the aim to multiply impact for conflict-affected children.

As part of the Trusts and Institutional funding team of four you’ll work alongside the Head of Trusts and Institutional, Trusts Manager, Trusts Executive and the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Executive. The main task of the Institutional Funding Lead is to secure funding from UK-based institutional donors, with a primary focus on the FCDO.

You will drive forward dynamic and proactive engagement strategies directly with UK-based institutional donors and indirectly through consortia, as well as developing and supporting organisational positioning for contracts and grants.

This role will introduce innovative and agile funding approaches and models to enhance War Child UK’s competitiveness in a complex donor environment. You’ll achieve this by working closely with the War Child Alliance Foundation to research and analyse opportunities, enhance and support donor engagement plans, and drive forward engagement opportunities to maximise and secure funding.

About the role

• Develop and strengthen a network of contacts with relevant representatives from UK institutional donors and partners, primarily FCDO, institutional foundations and INGOs, to enable consortia to develop and grow.
• Identify funding needs within War Child and match them with institutional funding opportunities by engaging with country teams, the regional teams and the Alliance institutional funding coordination.
• Lead the co-creation, coordination, and design of complex and challenging proposals for institutional funding opportunities, including multi-country opportunities or large-scale consortium bids.
• Line manage the new Trusts and Institutional Funding Executive providing professional development and support.

About you

• Experience of co-creating, leading, and coordinating complex proposal development processes, ideally for relevant donors including FCDO and humanitarian pooled funds.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance, with an up-to-date knowledge of relevant donors including FCDO, and humanitarian pooled funds.
• Experience in building networks, partnerships, and consortia to maximise programme impact and funding opportunities.
• Line management or leadership experience.

We are working with Pact, who are seeking an experienced Senior Manager (Major Gifts) with a proven track record of success to manage and grow their portfolio of major donors and legacies, to enable them to make a difference to the lives of those affected by criminal justice.

Pact is a successful national charity that provides life changing and lifesaving care for men, women and young people in custody, those with criminal convictions in the community and their children, family members and carers. 

In this newly created role, the Senior Manager (Major Gifts) will provide strong stewardship of existing relationships of mid value and major donors, support and cultivate interest in Pact’s programmes and unrestricted giving and take responsibility for identifying and developing new major gifts from individuals and family trusts. In addition, you will strengthen and develop the legacy strategy and offer to existing and new individual supporter. 

This is a senior, strategic role within Pact and you will have 

• A proven track record and specialism in either legacy or major donor giving, and the autonomy to raise funds from individuals, including HNWIs and to lead on this area within a charity.
• Experience of researching and cultivating individuals including HNWIs and family trusts to secure financial support.
• Strong interpersonal skills, talented at building relationships and trust, and able to inspire long term commitment.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey concepts and inspire a wide range of people through written & verbal channels, with the ability to build a case for support.
• Strong literacy, numeracy and budgeting skills and be capable of writing effective proposals, and reports.  Experience of using Salesforce is desirable but not essential.

Purpose of job: To work as a key part of the Philanthropy and Partnerships Team, line managed by the Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, and accountable to the Museum’s Director. This role will bring in vital income from trusts, foundations, corporate partners and individuals to deliver the business plan. This role has responsibility for achieving income targets by collaborating across all departments to understand and translate fundable and core activities into compelling cases for support.
Working pattern: 35 hours per week, usually worked from 10 – 6pm. Flexible/hybrid working offered for up 40% of hours to be worked from home.

Salary: c£36,000-38,000 depending on experience

Who we are looking for:

• You will be our ideal candidate if you are a high performing and target driven person, who enjoys working in a fast paced and rewarding environment. 
• You will have a track record of securing grants, gifts and donations from individuals, trusts, foundations or corporate supporters.

Key objectives in first 6 months:

• Established position as a trusted and valued colleague within the Museum team

Key Responsibilities:
Supporter Identification, Communication and Cultivation

• Identify, research and develop a pipeline of trusts and foundations prospects, ensuring that relationships are well managed and planned for first, second and third requests for funding, as appropriate.
• Identify, research and approach corporate partnership prospects to support agreed priorities such as exhibitions and programmes
• Work closely with colleagues in Events, Commercial and Communications to promote corporate sponsorship packages, including working on communications and campaigns that encourage uptake and renewal

• Ensure that supporters are contracted and acknowledged appropriately; including personally, on website, on site and/or in printed materials as appropriate, and ensure all agreed benefits are delivered
• Maintain and create accurate records on submissions, outcomes and correspondence using the Museum CRM system

• Provide monthly updates on progress against targets to the Senior Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager, including planned proposals and income forecast, pledged and paid.

• Work collaboratively with the Philanthropy and Partnerships team, consultants and colleagues across the organisation to ensure that the work of the Philanthropy and Partnerships team is fully integrated and supports the delivery of Museum’s overall objectives and business plan

Person specification
Essential:

•  Proven ability to manage and cultivate a list of active and significant supporters

The Philanthropy & Partnerships team
In Autumn 2023, Foundling Museum delivered a successful, ambitious capital campaign to secure the future of the Museum through a variety of supporters, from individuals, major supporters and trusts/foundations.
The Philanthropy team is responsible for the funding revenue needs of the Museum, which for 2024-25 is c£800,000, making up approximately 36% of total income.
The post of Philanthropy and Partnerships Manager will deliver against personal targets toward this goal. Remaining income includes Arts Council England National Portfolio funding, NLHF funding, core earned income (admissions) and trading activities (retail and venue hire).
The Philanthropy and Partnerships team collaborates closely with the Director, Chair of Trustees and Development Consultants and across all departments to understand and translate fundable and core activities into compelling cases for support. Across a year the team raises vital income for exhibitions, learning and participation activities, events, capital projects, an established endowment fund and unrestricted revenue income.

We are recruiting a Volunteer Support Officer to help support our 3,000 volunteers across the UK and Channel Islands. The postholder in this role will help NCT achieve its vision for volunteering, building strong more inclusive parent networks that boost the wellbeing of parents through warm, friendly, non-judgemental support.

About the role

You will help by recruiting, supporting, and managing volunteers who deliver parent support and fundraising activities. 

Responsible for supporting volunteers to organise and deliver parent support and fundraising activities this role is perfect for someone who loves variety in their work.  Speaking to volunteers, developing new resources, thinking creatively, and improving processes are all a big part of this role.

Senior Community and Events Fundraiser, an excellent opportunity to join a long-standing regional Hospice, with Head Office based in Surrey area.

• This role can be either Full-Time (37.5 hours a week) or Part-Time (30 hours a week).
• Hybrid working pattern, with a min of 3 days office based for Full-Time hours.
• Salary; Full-Time - £35,000 per annum. Part-Time - £28,000 per annum.

As the Senior Community and Events Fundraiser, you will work with the Community and Events Lead, and be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the community and events fundraising plans and activities. You will managing a varied portfolio of events, including third party, challenges and bespoke. Along with engaging with the community to develop and implement plans for maximising income and support from individuals, groups and businesses.

Key Responsibilities for ensuring the delivery of community and events fundraising plans and activities:

• Manage, achieve and where possible exceed Community and Events income targets, taking a lead for specific projects, activities and events.
• Support the Community and Events Lead, contributing to the development of annual plans and budgets.
• Project manage challenge events (e.g. London Marathon, bike rides, skydives etc.), liaise with third-party organisers, participant recruitment and participant support.
• Work with other teams across Fundraising and MarComms to market and promote fundraising products, activities and events.
• Organise events, including liaison with venues, suppliers, monitoring expenditure, volunteers and participants and ensure all preparation is complete.
• Ensure an excellent level of supporter care and stewardship with supporters is maintained and developed.
• Provide regular reports and information about activities, supporters and volunteers.
• Line management of a Community and Events Fundraising Assistant.

To be successful in this Senior Community and Events Fundraiser role, you will have gained skills and experiences in the following areas;

• Previous experience working in fundraising in either a community, challenge or mass participant event capacity.
• Experience of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with individual fundraisers/supporters and/or, managing fundraising events.
• Experience of working to budgets, targets and plans.
• Previous experience of managing staff and/or volunteers.
• Knowledge of fundraising regulations.

The Role
Support the Regional Major Gifts Team in delivering the major donor elements of the fundraising strategy to secure c£400k per year.

Manage a portfolio of existing major donors and prospects and ensure a first- class cultivation and stewardship journey.

Attend meetings with existing and new donors, developing bespoke, personalised written communications and proposals, preparing budgets and proposals to accompany approaches.

Be responsible for stewarding existing major donors in Scotland and recruiting new high-net worth supporters, through creative engagement techniques and the development of trusted relationships.

The Candidate

Proactive, ambitious team player, able to work from own initiative.

A track record of relationship development and securing gifts from individuals or corporations to meet targets.

Experience of making successful asks through written and/or verbal proposals.

The ability to be articulate and persuasive with a range of stakeholders.
