Mencap - the leading charity for the 1.5 million people in the UK with a learning disability, their families and carers - is seeking an experienced and motivated grants, trusts and foundations fundraiser.

This role will be critical to supporting the Trusts and Statutory Team at Mencap to develop a sustainable, ambitious programme that contributes to building a robust pipeline of income from trust, foundation, statutory and lottery prospects with the potential to donate significant income in support of a range of the charity’s projects. It will be responsible for developing compelling and strategically aligned applications to secure funding through various funding bodies and contribute significantly to the financial team target. The post-holder will also identify and research prospective donors that have the potential to support the organisation’s work, through internal networks and undertaking external research.

Mencap is seeking an ambitious and creative fundraiser with demonstrable experience of securing five figure+ sums through compelling cases from trusts, statutory funders and similar funding bodies. You will also significant experience working with and to financial and non-financial KPIs, as well as of project management and cross-organisational working.

Alongside a strong knowledge and understanding of Trust and Statutory Fundraising, key issues and opportunities, you will have the ability to engage and inspire internal and external stakeholders. You will also have a results driven focus, with the ability to thrive in a busy work environment and work to deadlines. Finally, you will share Mencap’s passion about changing the world for everyone with a learning disability.

Support Dog is a unique and innovative national charity that has been transforming the lives of families affected by autism, epilepsy and disability for 30 years.

Support Dogs trains and provides specialist assistance dog to give 100% reliable advance warning of epileptic seizures; to help children with autism to stay safe and better engage with the world around them. Our disability assistance dogs bring independence and a better quality of life for those with physical disabilities including MS, Cerebral Palsy and Fibromyalgia.

Founded and entirely based in Sheffield our charity operates across the UK, growing significantly over recent years. The demand for our work is overwhelming, with requests for support increasing ten-fold over the past few years. Support Dogs provides all of its services free of charge and relies entirely on voluntary donations for funding.

Funding from trusts and charitable foundations is vital to our charities ability to provide its vital, life saving work. Support Dogs is going through a period of growth and is looking for an experienced fundraiser to provide support to help us to reach further and maximise opportunities as our existing post holder takes maternity leave.

The role’s focus is Greater Manchester with some work in Merseyside, and you will also work on joint initiatives and events with the Fundraising Development Manager for Yorkshire.

A day in the life of a Fundraising Development Manager:

• Generate income from individuals, and corporates

The Autism Centre of Excellence exists to improve access to high quality support and remove barriers and stigma for autistic people, but to do this we need to grow our funding.

We aim to raise £5 million over the next five years to increase our reach, impact and activities, whilst creating a sustainable and predictable income stream for the charity. To do this we need to systematically build a pipeline of donors and supporters, to build profile and new relationships. In the short term we need someone who can lead the development of a series of applications to trusts, foundations and other sources of funding to support our priority workstreams.

Main duties and Responsibilities

• Primary focus will be on managing and soliciting income from your own portfolio of high value trusts, foundations and statutory funders, securing gifts of between £10,000 - £1,000,000 to successfully achieve the charity’s ambitious fundraising targets.
• Secondary focus will be on the planning and delivery of first-class Special Events and Major Donor fundraising.
• Create a robust prospect pipeline of effectively researched and qualified funders, ensuring a continued flow of prospects through the pipeline, taking a sales approach to lead generation and the assessment of the warmth and value donors.
• Deliver effective research of prospective and existing donors, which enables us to raise significant income through both new and existing relationships; utilising our networks effectively.
• Implement effective cultivation and stewardship journeys that provides a high-quality supporter experience to your portfolio of donors and prospects.
• Deliver first-class relationship management to ensure excellent ongoing relationships with donors in both a written and face-to-face capacity.
• Deliver exceptional writing skills through proposal and bid writing and day-to-day communication with donors and colleagues.
• Fully understand the charity’s projects and activities to both ascertain their suitability as funding propositions and communicate them in a compelling manner to funders.
• Work closely with operational colleagues to develop compelling and thorough cases for support to inform our research and fundraising strategies.

Salary: Up to £32,000 FTE, dependent on skills and experience.

Finance Lead - Fundraising and CAA

This role will deliver high quality insight and financial management which informs decision-making and helps to ensure maximum impact from our fundraising income. As the Finance Lead for Fundraising and CAA you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient utilisation of financial resources to maximise fundraising returns and ensure efficient spend which is aligned to strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare timely, accurate, and insightful management reporting for the directorates, facilitating informed decision-making and effective financial management.

· Lead financial planning processes and provide analysis, guidance and challenge to ensure the development of robust and credible plans.

· Identify risks and opportunities related to fundraising financial performance, providing strategic guidance to mitigate risks and maximize opportunities effectively.

· Support business development with financial scrutiny of tenders, fundraising bids, and business cases.

· Conduct fundraising portfolio ROI analysis and investment appraisal to optimize fundraising returns.

· Manage restricted reserves to ensure spend alignment with intended purposes.

· Provide external reporting to funders as required and act as the primary contact for annual report and audit queries.

Duties Include:

Fundraising and project development:

· Lead the implementation of Bexley Mencap’s Fundraising Strategy; reviewing existing fundraising strategies, identifying opportunities for development and introducing innovative strategies to achieve fundraising goals. 

· Research and pursue new funding opportunities; including grants, legacies and social enterprise/earned income opportunities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Risk & Assurance Manager to join our Audit, Risk & Governance Team. This role will require the successful candidate to support to the Head of Audit, Risk & Governance in the implementation and oversight of effective risk management and assurance policies and procedures for the whole organisation.

Role Requirements

 You will attend the Audit & Risk Committee and other board committees from time to time to present on risk and assurance.  With experience of delivering 2nd line risk and assurance activities within large, complex or heavily regulated organisation, you will be effective in building professional relationships and influencing and collaborating with colleagues from all disciplines and at all levels. 

You will need to engage effectively with frontline and support colleagues to really understand the needs of our beneficiaries and the risks to the charity more broadly.  The ultimate objective of risk management at The Children’s Trust is to ensure the charity continues to deliver high-quality, safe and effective and financially sustainable services for vulnerable children now and in the longer-term.

Although the role does not have any formal direct reports, the Risk & Assurance Analyst will have a dotted line into the Risk & Assurance Manager, providing support particularly on business continuity but also on risk management as and when necessary.

With experience of working in a complex environment, across a large and diverse workforce, you will be exceptionally organised with a high-level of attention to detail. You will naturally possess excellent inter-personal skills, and an ability to consult and positively engage with key stakeholders across the organisation.

We are looking for an expert who can bring their enthusiasm and knowledge of autistic learners to join our team as our Aspirations Manager. You will be an effective leader, with school experience and QTS, who can inspire staff and our learners on their pathways to greater independence.

This role is a vital member of the Senior Management Team supporting the Chief Executive to make strategic decisions as well as contributing to the areas of Human Resources and Health and Safety to ensure Red2Green runs effectively.

• feel supported in the workplace in regard to their autism

 Key duties and responsibilities of the role:

· Leads the Aspirations Service in a way that reflects the overarching strategy of the organisation via action plans, effective leadership of staff, sound communications and personal example

• Provides leadership and line management to Aspirations staff, including objective setting, performance management and the appraisal process, delegating the process where necessary and ensuring all Red2Green procedures for this are followed

· Creates and oversees a personalised service for clients that reflects the wider landscape within the county and the sector, with the intention that Red2Green and the Aspirations Service is an industry leader for Autism Services.

· Oversees all Education Provision for those at Red2Green with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)

· Organises, attends and takes a lead at EHCP reviews, writes EHCP offers and provides professional reports when needed

· Works as Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead (DDSL) alongside the Options Manager, and Chief Executive

• Builds professional relationships with other agencies, provisions and professionals
• Builds good relationships with learners’ families/carers to make sure that they are involved (as appropriate) in developing learners’ skills and abilities

Person specification:

You will have:

· Experience teaching autistic learners and a good understanding of the complexities that come from having more than one diagnosis

• Experience of working with people with learning disabilities
• Experience of leading staff

· Knowledge and Understanding of Education Health Care Plans

· Understanding of safeguarding duty

· Qualification for teaching (adults or QTS)
