About the role

The Natural History Museum at Tring, Hertfordshire, welcomes 145,000 public visitors a year to our Victorian galleries as well as visitors to our research collections held on site. Our Housekeeping Team are crucial to providing a clean and safe environment for all visitors and staff in the Museum. As part of this team, the Museum & Housekeeping assistants’ role is to provide and maintain the highest standard of cleanliness within the Museum’s galleries and spaces, carry out portering duties, non-specialist maintenance tasks and supporting the Museum’s team in gallery exhibit conservation.

Working 36 hours per week on a five out of seven-day Rota, which includes one weekend in four & public holidays.

About you

We hope to hear from people who have experience of commercial cleaning & minor maintenance with a good level of physical fitness that enables you to spend much of your working day carrying out physical activity. With record visitor numbers to the Natural History Museum, this fast-paced environment requires adaptability within the role, teamwork, and a positive attitude. Experience working in a customer facing environment would be desirable, with an understanding of health & safety regulations, COSHH and environmental matters beneficial. You are confident working independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team with strong communication, administrative & interpersonal skills while having an ability to be flexible and use your own initiative. You’ll thrive on multitasking and working at pace, supporting your colleagues while consistently providing outstanding service. Working to a rota and following set operating procedures are essential. Good ‘IT’ skills, including the use of Microsoft applications for administrative tasks & an interest in Natural History and Heritage would also be beneficial to the position. Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

We are now recruiting the team that will deliver Crisis at Christmas 2025. This unique project mobilises a huge volunteering effort to provide warmth, companionship and vital services in temporary centres across London to people facing homelessness.

Vacancies: We are hiring for three vacancies

Contract: Fixed Term Contract – 16 September 2025 to 30 January 2026

Hours: 35 hours per week (some rota’d working to cover weekends and bank holidays over Christmas period)

About the role

As Project Assistant in the Volunteering Team, you will play a proactive role in supporting the recruitment and management of Crisis at Christmas volunteers. This is a great entry-level opportunity to be part of a collaborative and supportive team making a real difference. Acting as the first point of contact for all volunteer enquiries, you will ensure an equitable and inclusive experience for every applicant by processing volunteer applications and confidential data with care and diligence, and by conducting essential safety checks to make sure our volunteers are suitable.

We’re looking for someone who brings bold ideas and a positive attitude, is comfortable working with people from all backgrounds, and wants to help create an impactful volunteering experience. When our project goes live, you’ll also play a key role in running our friendly volunteer helpline—helping people feel supported and ready to make a difference.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience of customer service and be comfortable answering high volumes of volunteer enquiries on the phone or via email in a professional and friendly manner
• Excellent spoken and written skills to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of audiences.
• Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
• A positive and proactive mindset, coupled with a strong willingness to contribute and support the success of the project.

You may have experience in a busy customer service or call centre environment or experience in events or working on busy projects. You should have an interest in the charity or homelessness sector and a commitment to Crisis’ purpose and values.

Swarthmoor Hall in Ulverston is a place of international significance as the birth of the Quaker movement. It comprises a small historic visitor attraction with gardens, a café, on site holiday accommodation plus facilities for the local community. Swarthmoor Hall has lots to offer local visitors and tourists, it is a great place to work with an excellent team. We have plans to develop the attraction further, this along with increasing visitor numbers means we need two new staff. 

We’re looking for motivated and flexible staff to support us opening the Hall and gardens to more visitors, as well as promoting and supervising our self-catering holiday accommodation and café to be open year-round. 

In this role, you will bring experience of managing people, and you will have skills and abilities from working in a range of relevant work settings e.g. café/holiday accommodation/visitor attraction. You will bring lots of energy and ideas on how we can continue to increase the numbers of visitors and improve their experience.

The site is open all year round in 2025, Wednesday to Friday as well as some weekends and bank holidays, and we’re looking to extend this in 2026 and beyond as we grow and develop.

Sitting within the Chief Executive’s Office, this new position of Internal Communications and Team Executive, will play a key role in delivering high-quality internal communications across ARUK. The Internal Communications Team exists to ensure every employee feels valued, included and informed. Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Internal Communications

· Manage monthly intranet metrics and reporting.

· Support teams on Internal Communications events, including the all-employee away day, annual picnics, Monthly Coffee Mornings, Board/Trustee activity, and other relevant areas.

· Work as part of the Internal Communications Team to deliver regular CEO Comms.

· Support the wider CEO Office Team with their internal communications needs.

Strategy and Governance

· Work with the Director of Strategy and Governance to provide support on key priority projects relating to strategy delivery and internal communications.

· Provide administrative and logistical support for our annual planning and budgeting process.

· Support the team with the logistics and organisation around Board meetings.

Administrative and Team support

· Learn how to use/and be proactive in using the organisation's CRM system (Salesforce) to record key activity for the CEO Office Team.

· Help arrange and service CEO Office team activities throughout the year, including team meetings, away days and development opportunities.

· Support the Executive Support team in providing administrative support to the Chief Executive and other Directors as required, including completing expenses, arranging travel and booking meeting rooms.

What we are looking for:

· Proven work experience in a similar role

We are seeking a motivated and efficient Events Assistant to join our growing and welcoming organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a wide range of events (online and in person) for stakeholders across Wales’ political, public and academic life. About the role

Managed by the Head of Public Policy, this is a role which is designed to work across our small team, supporting the management of a wide range of events (online and in person) as well as providing some support for communications, meetings and other areas as they develop.

We organise and host a wide variety of events from large public lectures to small networking events, in-person dinners to online seminars and meetings. Some of these are established annual events and some are one-off.  At these events and meetings, we host stakeholders from across Welsh political and public spheres as well as engaging and involving our 700+ Fellows who represent excellence across academia and beyond.

This role will focus primarily on events relating to LSW’s Strategic Priority 1: “Contribute to major policy solutions by providing independent advice and facilitating knowledge exchange”.  These events typically relate to one of the following five topics:

1. Facilitating the provision of evidence and expertise to inform public policy, with stakeholders including Welsh Government, the Senedd, the UK Government Wales Office, and the Westminster Welsh Affairs Committee.

2. Convening discussions on policy matters impacting research and innovation sectors, such as EDI, research culture, funding, open research, and civic engagement.

3. Advocating for the importance of all research, innovation, and knowledge in and for Wales.

4. Supporting and advocating for Wales Studies, i.e. research about Wales.

5. International engagement to raise Wales’s profile among science and research stakeholders internationally, and give Wales a voice in key conversations in the global science and research world. (Most current work is in Scotland and Ireland, with increasing European engagement)

You will also provide support across the team – including for the CEO, President, Head of Equity and Engagement, Communications Officer, and Events and Awards Officer where they require assistance with meetings, events and communications.  You will be working with different members of the team depending on the particular event or activity so you will manage your own time – with support from your line manager.

We are recruiting for a qualified Youth Worker to join our Family and Youth Services. You will plan, deliver and evaluate youth club activities for young people and ensure that all safeguarding, regulatory and health & safety requirements are met. This role requires a minimum of 2 years experience of leading youthwork sessions, either centre-based and/or detached. The candidate must have a minimum of a Level 3 Youth Work qualification or equivalent, and must be a driver due to the delivery of detached work on the Y Bus. Key responsibilities:

• To actively engage with young people aged 10 to 18 in a wide range of youth work programmes that promote personal and social development

• Coordinate YMCA’s detached programme – Y Bus and Street Talk including liaising with partner agencies. This includes driving our Y Bus.

You will be supporting the Health Services Manager and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, all with a view to improving the quality and the standards of health services for all people affected by Crohn's and Colitis.
