The role

This is an exciting time to be joining UK Youth. We have recently been through a strategy refresh and are now better positioned to deliver on our ambitions that all young people are equipped to thrive and empowered to contribute at every stage of their lives.

This role will lead design projects to shape UK Youth’s support to young people and professionals working with young people. This could include structured youth work programmes, grant funds, professional development programmes, and campaigns.

You will be confident in taking a human-centred-design approach to tackle some of the youth sector’s knottiest problems. You will help to improve the skills and confidence of colleagues across UK Youth to apply design methods in their own work. 

In 2024, our priority topics for youth work programmes and network development are: mental health, employability, youth social action, outdoor learning and physical literacy. 

You will work closely the research, evaluation, policy, service delivery, network development, and fundraising teams. You will meaningfully involve young people and the professionals who support them in the design process. 

You will design solutions to important problems, ensuring that they are feasible, equitable, and impactful.

SPANA - The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. Key responsibilities 

• Ensure timely and accurate advice and guidance is given to line managers and employees on HR employee relations issues, absence management, employment legislation, policies and procedures, referring requests for advice on complex employment matters to legal advisors.
• Provide in-depth support and legislative expertise and guidance with staff matters, including disputes, performance, disciplinary, and/or grievance matters.
• Provide support for the performance management system ensuring that it is completed on time each year and outputs are used to inform the talent and career development procedures.
• Explore opportunities to increase the Society's Apprenticeship programme and make use of the Apprenticeship Levy.
• Timely recruitment, globally to provide recruitment and interview guidance, and training to interviewers.
• Define and develop specific inclusion and diversity priorities and targets.
• Collaborating with senior leaders and directors to plan and facilitate activities that support the organisation’s commitment to inclusiveness.
• Utilise data and insights to create board and business reports that track progress towards measurable outcomes.
• Partner with relevant teams globally to maintain consistent messaging and branding for equality, diversity and inclusion initiatives both internally and externally.
• Oversee the UK monthly payroll preparation.
• Produce the monthly HR reports for SMT and Committee meetings.

About you 

• CIPD Qualified with experience in a senior HR role 
• Strong knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion best practices and regulations
• Experience of working for an INGO or similar global non-profit entity
• Solid understanding of employment legislation
• Experience working effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience of delivering on HR change and transformation projects would be beneficial
• Proactive and consultative approach with the ability to work in fast pace environment

Head of Finance

To help us with this important mission, we currently have a vacancy for a Head of Finance who will be able to use their professional experience and accountancy qualification to help us transform lives and strengthen communities through grassroots football.

The role

As our Head of Finance, reporting into the CFO, you’ll lead the finance team, ensuring robust financial management and sustainability to support our charitable objectives. You will direct the day-to-day operations of the finance team, actively manage financial planning and forecasting, and develop high level models to support strategic and operational decision making. You will also input into strategy on a functional and organisational level. 

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to follow football or understand about football and sports facilities to apply, but it is expected that you appreciate the power of sport to change lives and have a genuine interest in using your skills and experience to help the Foundation achieve our charitable and strategic objectives.

Here’s some of the experience and expertise you’ll need for the role:

· A professional accountancy qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualified financial and operational management experience.

· Prior experience in a senior level finance role with responsibility across the entire finance function, including hands on experience in delivering business partnering.

· Significant experience of financial planning and analysis.

· Commercial or charity accounting experience, including the preparation of statutory accounts, and preferably SORP compliance.

· Experience leading an end-to-end external audit process.

· Familiarity developing, improving and implementing financial procedures and controls.

You’ll also have good knowledge of the legislative, tax and regulatory framework of companies, ideally in the not-for-profit sector. Most of all we want someone who reflects who we are as an organisation.

What can we offer you?

The International Finance Manager will be responsible for all areas relating to financial activity in our international operations and will ensure appropriate global financial oversight of the growing network of local entities. The focus on governance and internal controls is essential to support the growth in the different locations. • Support local teams to develop new entities or to promote appropriate legal structure.

For Financial Controls and Risk Management, you will:

• Work with the Global Head of Finance to deliver the development, implementation, and maintenance of internal controls.
• Prepare internal documentation to support due diligence and internal controls.
• Lead analysis and documentation of technical issues for Better Cotton local offices and related entities to mitigate organisational risk and develop implementation strategies, working in close collaboration with the country teams.
• Review the financial risks for new investment developments for Better Cotton and drive appropriate policies to reduce organisational risk.
• Lead the risk assessment for Finance and review the financial risks for the overall organisation, working closely with the Finance Managers and country teams.
• Document and maintain updated the global risk register. Represent the Finance function in the Risk Register Working group.

For Systems and Process Improvements globally, you will:

• Drive forward a co-ordinated and well-thought-out roadmap of enhancements that addresses our business processes and systems to drive efficiencies and strengthen controls, including supporting the development of an ERP road map working closely with the IT & Country teams.
• Support the maintenance of the ERP road map, working closely with the IT & Country teams, to ensure it remains appropriate as Better Cotton evolves.
• Oversee the Global IT projects related to finance processes and data delivered by the IT team.
• Oversee the implementation of effective international change management process and documentation.

For other areas, you will:

• Work with the Global Head of Finance prepare pre-reads for Finance Committee and Council.
• Work with the Global Head of Finance for many aspects of functional management, including staffing and building an effective motivated team with the appropriate skills as the organisation develops.

Programme Manager role

We are now looking for an enthusiastic and committed Programme Manager(s) to join our existing Programme Team in September 2024 on a full or part-time basis (6-month fixed-term with potential to extend).  As a Programme Manager, you will be responsible for managing the Yes Futures programmes in-person, in our partner primary and secondary schools in North London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire & Buckinghamshire.

Main Responsibilities

You will be one of a small team of Programme Managers, dedicated to delivering excellent programmes which make a positive difference to the lives of students.  The main responsibilities of the Programme Manager role are:

Programme delivery

• Responsible for the care and wellbeing of all students in your schools on the programme;
• Communicating with parents where necessary during the programme, by email, letter and telephone;
• Planning and delivering whole-group workshops for students;
• Planning and delivering information and celebration events for students and parents;
• Facilitating the in-person and online volunteer coaching team to deliver student coaching sessions. As well as delivering coaching sessions to students, where required;
• Developing business and charity partnerships for day trips;
• Planning and delivering the day trips included in the programme;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of the Into the Wild and World of Work day trips;
• Implementing discipline procedures, including reporting serious discipline issues;
• Implementing all necessary Health and Safety and Child Protection procedures, including recording and reporting any incidents;
• Ongoing communication with the school and Yes Futures head office regarding student engagement and progress.

Organisation and administration

• School onboarding, including ensuring that dates are planned, students are recruited and parental agreements are returned;
• Planning and organising the logistical elements of the programme (timetables, activities, sessions plans etc) through liaising with Yes Futures head office, school staff, businesses, charitable organisations and the rest of the Coaching team;
• Creation of Risk Assessments, parent letters and programme-related documents for schools;
• Sourcing materials needed for programme sessions, including lunches for trips;
• Assisting with finance and petty cash where required.

Management of volunteer Yes Futures Coaches

• Managing and developing the skills of your Coaching teams (usually 2-6 adults per school);
• Ongoing communication with your Coaching teams, to foster their enthusiasm and commitment;
• Supporting Coach recruitment for future programmes;
• Supporting the planning and delivery of training for Coaches;
• Maintaining accurate and secure records of Coaches’ personal information, absences, sickness and other relevant information.

Evaluation and reporting

• Facilitating the pre-, mid- and end of programme evaluations;
• Oversight and input of key student monitoring data and impact data;
• Debriefing and ongoing feedback collection from schools and Coaches;
• Ensure all work is carried out in an effective and timely manner to support continued high standards of the Yes Futures programmes.

Programme Managers will also be given the opportunity to support with other Head Office functions, including but not limited to:

• Strengthening our strategy, programme design and theory of change;

The Head of Programme Funding will manage and provide strong leadership to a dynamic team of six who support the Action Against Hunger Network to position for, access and deliver programmes with UK institutional funding, in line with the International Strategic Plan 3 (2021-5). Key donors include FCDO, DEC, Start Fund, Power of Nutrition and ELRHA.

The post holder will strengthen and expand the programme funding portfolio through the implementation of our 5-year Programme Funding Strategy and UK Government Engagement Strategy, ensuring our global Network secure and manage UK Aid and other UK funding, engaging with the UK Government and wider sector. Working closely with key stakeholders across Action Against Hunger UK, the post holder will bring a strategic and tactical approach to engagement and positioning which combines our UK and Global priorities to those of our important funding stakeholders – not least the UK Government at National, regional and local levels. The post holder will also seek to diversify our programme funding portfolio through expanding commercial contracts, climate change programming and the identification and support of funding opportunities for Nutrition, MEAL, Advocacy and UK Programme teams.

The post holder will engage positively and effectively with the Action Against Hunger Network, representing the UK at the International Donor Relations Unit (IDRU) within the Network. They will act as a key focal point for both programmatic insight from the Network as well as insight from the donor community and being able to capitalise on this important role. Role description

Results UK has a long and successful history of engaging with UK parliamentarians around international development issues and providing them with the briefings and questions they need to raise these issues in parliament.  As the Parliamentary Advocacy Officer for Child Health, you will lead our parliamentary work on global child health issues (routine immunisation and polio eradication in particular) in line with our new strategy and commitment to equity.  You will have a good understanding of how the UK Parliament works and how to engage parliamentarians in our issues.

You will lead relationships with UK parliamentarians around child health, including providing the Secretariat for the APPG Vaccinations for All.

Key responsibilities 

Parliamentary advocacy

• Working with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and others in the organisation to develop and implement a high impact and politically astute advocacy strategy for child health.

• Alongside the specific global education strategy, contribute to the development of Results’ overarching parliamentary advocacy strategy, working closely with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and other members of the team.

• Lead on the parliamentary work on child health for ResultsS UK, by building and strengthening relationships with MPs and Peers that result in their championing the end of poverty, specifically on malnutrition, and building support for nutrition interventions.

• Provide the secretariat function to the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Child Health. The APPG secretariat/coordinator function includes guiding the Group’s work programme and activities, arranging meetings and events, corresponding with the APPG Officers and Members, briefing MPs and Peers to ask questions or speak in parliamentary debates and representing the Group externally, for example with the FCDO, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, UNICEF and others.

• Lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of Parliamentary Delegations to other countries and advocacy tours to the UK, working with the relevant Policy Advocacy Officer and others in the Parliamentary Team.

• Work closely with the Grassroots Advocacy Team to ensure parliamentary and grassroots campaigning activity is coordinated and the greatest impact is achieved between the relationships our grassroots campaigners build with their local MPs, and the work led from the office to support MPs in Parliament.

• Ensure our parliamentary advocacy and relationships always remain non-partisan and cross-party, in line with our charitable aims and objectives.

Partners and coalitions

• Liaise with other global Results organisations, the ACTION Global Health Advocacy Partnership Secretariat and other ACTION partners to coordinate our parliamentary advocacy at a global level.

• Work closely with civil society and other partner organisations and allies in the UK to coordinate parliamentary advocacy in the UK.

• Represent Results UK in global coalitions and consortia relevant to your lead issue area, such as the UK Gavi CSO Working Group, the Polio Resource Mobilisation Group and others as agreed with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy.

• Identify and develop new partnerships in line with our new strategy and the focus on equity. 

Communications and media

• Where capacity allows, identify media opportunities and support media activity (including traditional and social media) related to nutrition.

• Contribute content to Results UK’s website, blog and social media to help achieve our organisational objectives and strengthen our brand presence. 

• Publicise the APPG's activities, primarily through its website and twitter account. 

• Represent Results at external meetings and events in relation to child health advocacy. 

Organisational Development

• Carry out effective monitoring, evaluation and learning of your work, recording activity and outcomes that enables Results UK to measure its success, in addition to measuring the impact of your activities towards these outcomes.

• Be a key part of Results UK’s organisational development by participating in strategic discussions, evaluations, sharing your experience and ideas, and working flexibly to support other staff as required.

• Actively develop and support funding ideas to help appropriately expand Results UK’s portfolio in close collaboration with the Head of Parliamentary Advocacy and the Operations team.

• Build new and strengthen existing relationships with donors, external partners, and our advocacy targets.

• Together with the Senior Policy Advocacy Officer for Child Health, be responsible for regular reporting to grant funders. 

• Be flexible and undertake other tasks as required.

Person specification

This role is ideal for someone with public affairs or political advocacy experience, preferably in the UK, who understands the way that political decisions impact global poverty and wants to influence these decisions. A strong understanding of and passion for global health issues, particularly those that relate nutrition. Equally important is a proven ability to quickly gain an understanding of a complex new area and translate it into succinct, clear, achievable recommendations. 

This post will provide excellent opportunities for leading parliamentary advocacy to deliver real change in funding and policy outcomes on child health and other issues; for building and deploying a strong understanding of key international development issues; and experience of working directly with UK parliamentarians and other actors across the international development sector.

Essential criteria

• At least one year of experience in a substantial parliamentary or public affairs role with demonstrable success in managing relationships with parliamentarians from different parties.

• Understanding of the UK Parliament (including the roles of MPs and Peers; the range of activity parliamentarians can undertake in parliament to influence Government policy; the role of APPGs; Select Committees).

• A good understanding of international development issues and in particular, the need for approaches based in equity and partnership.

• An ability to learn quickly about new development issues and clearly convey this information to others.

• An ability to write clearly and succinctly, for a range of audiences, from lengthy formal submissions to short articles or blogs.

• Experience in representing organisations, networking, and working in coalitions.

• Experience of event organisation.

• Excellent English writing skills with an ability to write clearly and succinctly for a range of audiences.

• Strong interpersonal skills, able to build rapport with people from different backgrounds and cultures.

• Good understanding of carrying out effective Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), for advocacy work.

Young People’s Senior Peer Research Coordinator - Haringey

Are you passionate about working with young people?  Do you have experience of project management, involvement and research methods and helping others to do research?

If yes, we have the ideal job for you. We are working in partnership with the Peace Alliance in Haringey as part of the Peer Action Collective to develop solutions with young people to address youth violence. The work is funded by the Youth Endowment Fund.

Working with young people aged 10-20, as well as local secondary schools and colleges, the project will carry out peer research and develop social action projects.

The person in this role will be excellent at co-ordinating multiple projects and groups, with strong project management skills and will be a core part of our delivery team.  You will also get the opportunity to work on other young people’s involvement projects at McPin.

The post is full time and will suit someone who would like some flexibility in working hours, as there will be evening, weekend work plus school holiday activities, including Wednesdays and Fridays from 4-7 pm at Tottenham Town Hall. Your time will be split between working from Tottenham Town Hall in Haringey, the McPin Foundation offices in London and remote working as needed for project delivery.

You will link with stakeholders – schools, the police, local councillors – to help build networks to drive our social action projects forward.

An exciting position has arisen to join the fundraising team at Support Through Court - a small social justice charity that packs a big punch. We help increase access to justice for those who, due to severe cuts to legal aid, are forced to face the Civil and Family courts alone and without legal representation, often in life-changing cases such as domestic violence, eviction, and debt. 

This role helps raise vital funds for the charity from partnerships with corporates in the legal world.  You will steward corporate partners, create funding applications and marketing materials, and run events to engage new and existing supporters.
